Twenty-six

It’s been a month since she saw Jacob but she still haven’t heard anything from him. So he expects to see him or hear any news about his comeback, but to no avail, there is no single article about him. She’s starting to wonder if she was just mistaken, maybe it is not Jacob. Perhaps, it was just somebody who looks like him. She is not certain so she hired a private investigator to ease her mind.

“What have you found?” she asked the investigator over the phone one morning. She is anticipating that he can give her some useful information.

“Nothing, ma’am. There is no news about him since he vanished in thin air when he became a suspect for murder a year ago.”

Natasha took a huge breath. A year. She can’t believe it has been one year since that case broke out. Time flies so fast, she did not even notice it.

“Do you think he is New York?” she whispered, not wanting anyone to hear her though she is alone in her office.
