I remained hidden in the corner, patiently waiting for the intruder that was lurking around to approach my direction. The room was very dark and the reflection of the moon was the only source of light inside but my eyes had grown accustomed to darkness and they were clear as the day.
Just as predicted, I noticed a sneaky move towards my direction, I mentally calculated my moves and with a raise of my fist, I landed a heavy punch on the throat of the intruder.
“ Argghhh,” a loud groan escaped his mouth, making me maintain a satisfactory expression . I turned on the wall switch for a clear glimpse of who the person was.
The first thing that caught my attention was the green snake tattoo on his neck. “ Wait, you are …” I trailed off, trying to gather my thoughts together.
I was very mad and furious because judging from the tattoo, the assassin was from the Vein clan and he is a smaller assassin. What were they thinking when they sent a newbie to me?
I tried hard to connect the dots together but I couldn't. Turning towards my locker, I brought out a pistol and shot it towards the assassin who was witting on the floor.
“ Bloody motherfucker,” I cursed as his blood splattered all over my face.
I moved closer to him to check whether he is dead but luckily for him, he is still alive. “ You are a tough one right?” I said to him while deliberately pressing down on his wound. He was sweating and screaming in desperation.
After seeing that he was helpless and almost dead, I placed a call across to Joe who picked up after the first ring.
“ Boss,” he mumbled in a hoarse voice.
“ Send three guards to my room and come along with them,” I hung up immediately, not waiting to hear his response.
I sat back on my bed, glancing at the door at intervals in expectancy of the people I requested for. Some minutes later, I heard a series of footsteps approaching the door and I breathed a sigh of relief.
The three guards entered in a row and bowed their heads In Front of me, they all looked unfazed and unbothered with the almost lifeless body In Front of them.
“ Clear that body up. He is still alive so lock him up in the confinement and call the doctor to attend to his wounds. We will need him later,” I instructed and dispersed them, indicating to Joe to wait behind.
“ Do you know who that is?” I asked after the guards had cleared the mess on the floor.
I turned my back at him, gazing down at the quiet street.
“ No, I don't. But judging from the tattoo on his neck, he is from The Vein clan,” he answered accordingly.
“ You are correct,” I took out the packet of cigar in my pocket and put it up.
“ But I think this is more of a threat than a message,” Joe beat me to what I was just about to say and I unconsciously nodded in admittance to what he just said.
“ We have never had a clash with them, I don't know why they decided to send an assassin to me and not even a trained one.”
Joe remained silent, seeming to think about something.
“ I think we should set up a meeting with them before we strike back,” Joe suggested. I gave him an eyebrow raise but nevertheless accepted his suggestion.
“ I really need to clear my head, get the car ready, I will be going to the Hot bar,” I instructed before proceeding to take my shower in the bathroom. Hot bar is a popular stripper club for the rich group and that is exactly what I need to cool my head off right now.
The ride to the bar was very peaceful and quiet, we met very few cars on the road and that was understandable, given that it's almost midnight.
“ You are welcome sir,” the bartender greeted me as soon as I arrived. I signaled him to bring my usual to my private room while I settled back to enjoy the show that was about to unfold.
I patiently waited for them to bring the shots that I ordered for and it didn't take long for them to arrive.
“ I will be at the door side to attend to any of your needs sir,” the bartender said with a bow and excused himself afterwards.
I rested my hand on the long couch while watching the performance in the showroom. After some minutes, some girls will leave and others will replace them.
I kept watching but nothing seemed to draw me in. Infact, their performance all bore me out and somehow added to the anger brewing in me.
Just as I was about to leave, another switch happened and the new girl made me pause unconsciously.
I can't say what particularly dragged my attention towards her but she has a very white and milky skin with certain goddess features. A stud was hooked to her belly button and her waist chain dangled in the direction of her soft movement.
I released a heavy breath and cursed silently at the effect she was having on me.
She turned her around professionally and my gaze lurked more on my face, I couldn't see or decipher the expression on her face but I know one thing for certain. ‘ I want to have her,’
“ And I will have her,” I declared, giving an answer to my thought.
Till another switch occurred, I was fully focused on her waist and movement, up to the point that I got a boner.
“ Shit,” I landed a heavy punch on the soft couch, I hurried out of the room to meet Joe outside. Standing firm and serious.
I didn't say anything to him rather I quickened my pace towards the changing room of the strippers. I was pacing back and forth, calmly waiting for her to emerge from the room and boom! Her graceful figure came out.
I was jaws dropped when I saw how curvy and beautiful she was. She is simply an angel in human form.
“ Excuse me,” she voiced out, making me drown in the depth of her sweet voice. I gave her a questioning gaze and she gestured in response then I realized that I was obstructing the door.
I recovered my composure and ran my tongue over my lip evilly while I contemplated the next thing that
was coming out of my mouth.
“ How much for the night,” I blurted out, making her eyes widen in shock.
“ What?”
Luca’s POVI stood frozen with the world around me shrinking until all I could see was her.Jessica.Her wide, panicked eyes. The way her shoulders rose and fell with sharp, uneven breaths. The way her fingers curled into her palms, like she was bracing herself for a fight she had already convinced herself she’d lose. And her words—They kept repeating in my head like some broken record. She thought I had taken those pictures. She thought I had violated her.The realization was more hurtful than a blade to my chest, it felt deeper with every second she stood there just looking at me like I was a monster. My jaw clenched so tight it ached. My pulse beat faster than normal against my skull.I wanted to tell her she was wrong.I wanted to shake her, to force her to understand that I would never, ever do something like that to her but I couldn’t because right now, all she saw was a man guilty until he was proven innocent.Jessica sucked in a shaky breath, “Say something,” she whispered.
Luca's POVI stepped out of the bathroom as I rolled the condom packet between my fingers with a lazy smirk already playing on my lips.Jessica had been the one pushing for this, and fuck, I was already getting excited thinking about how much I wanted her—how much I had always wanted her. I guess taking things slowly wasn't in the cards for her. "Hey, you might want to—" I was saying but then I froze. She wasn’t there, She wasn't in the room, on the couch where I last saw her. I frowned as my eyes scanned the living room. The spot on the couch where she had been sitting was empty.Perhaps she was thirsty after the steamy moment."Jessica?" I called out as I glanced towards the kitchen. No response.A strange feeling had already begun to crawl up my spine, the kind of unease that didn’t make sense yet. Maybe she was in the other bathroom? I walked toward the door, listening. Silence. She still wasn't anywhere. Is she trying to play games with me? I wondered. Jessica really wasn't the
Jessica’s POVI should have known Ava wouldn’t let this slide. The moment she got me alone after I had agreed to go on a date with Luca, I could see it all over her face—the disapproval, the concern, the desperate urge to shake me out of what she believed was a mistake.I understood that she didn't want me to have to go through that trauma but I promise I was fine. "You can't be serious about this, Jess," she said with her arms crossed as she stood in front of me like a mother about to scold her child. "A date? With him?" She asked me incredulous. I let out a sigh, I had already anticipated this conversation. I knew she was speaking out of a place of concern but I could handle myself. "Ava—" I was saying. "No, hear me out," she cut in as I saw the way her eyes burned with something close to frustration. "I'm not saying Luca's a bad guy, okay? I actually think he's annoyingly charming in his own way. But you... you've been through so much, Jess. Are you sure you can handle this?"
Jessica’s POVI wasn't supposed to be know what he was going to say. At least, that’s what Ava had whispered to me the moment Luca showed up and Coran had called him away to speak with him. Ava had reached for my hand when I wanted to follow them and she had tried to pull me away from going with them. “Leave it to Coran,” she had urged me in a low but urgent voice. “You really don’t need this right now.” she had said to me and she was right, I didn’t need this. I didn’t need Luca showing up at Coran’s house, invading a space that had finally started feeling safe for me. I sure as hell didn’t need the way my heart stuttered the moment I sst my eyes on him, nor the way the world suddenly seemed to shrink down to just his presence the moment o noticed him standing there. But none of that stopped me from standing up and ignoring Ava’s grip."I'm just going to check up on them and let them be." I said to her as I ignored Navia's eyes on me and I quietly followed Luca and Coran as they d
Luca's POV I wasn’t supposed to be here,I know that much but the moment I heard Navia casually mention a barbecue at Coran’s place—and the fact that Jessica might be there, I shut my thinking.I already had it planned out, I was visiting a friend in Milan. An old pal, but upon hearing that she was going to be at Coran's place on Saturday, I just knew that this was my chance to see her and if I got lucky, get to speak to her. I had called, rescheduled my visit to Milan for a few more days and prepared to visit Coran's mansion when no one was suspecting. I had spent days trying to figure out where Jessica had disappeared to and everyone refused to tell me, they were all acting clueless. Not Ava, not Coran, and definitely not Jessica herself as she had somehow either deactivated her phone or blocked me from contacting her. It was like she had vanished into thin air, and I had been left with nothing but restless nights and this growing frustration that gnawed at me at every thought of
Jessica's pov The afternoon sun was warm and it's golden rays were sprawled over estate as I pulled up to the gates of Ava and Coran’s mansion. I had debated coming because I was a bit hesitant for reasons I didn’t want to acknowledge, but Ava had been persistent, She kept texting and bothering me. Begging that I came. What had finally pulled me to the bathroom was a particular voicemail she sent to me. "Jessica, it's just a casual barbecue. You need to get out of your apartment for once," she had insisted over the phone. "And before you ask—no, Luca won’t be there. He’s traveling to Milan for a few days. You won’t see him, I promise." Those were her exact words. That promise had been the only reason I had agreed on visiting. Well, plus the fact that it's been days since I last saw Coran. He wasn't one to bother me, but I knew he wanted to see me as well. Now, as I stepped out of my car and adjusted my sunglasses against the blinding sunlight, the sight of the grand villa stole
