Chapter 2

Author: Perfect Timing
After dismissing the ministers, Mother breathed a sigh of relief. However, when she saw my eyes that were dry of all tears, she immediately seized the opportunity to lash out.

"You're truly selfish and cold-blooded. Vee died because of you, yet you show no gratitude for her sacrifice."

Her sacrifice? I scoffed inwardly. In my previous life, she knew that relations between humans and beastmen were strained, yet she deliberately provoked beast nobles for her own selfish desires.

When she grew bored of them, she left behind ambiguous words that made all three believe they were her true love, causing them to fight endlessly over her.

When they finally got tired of fighting each other, they blamed everything on me. They decided I was the one who had killed their beloved and caused them to turn against each other. With nowhere to vent their rage, they all agreed that I was the one who deserved to die the most.

First, the merman brutally tore out my spiritual core and abandoned me in the frozen wasteland. When wild animals came to gnaw at my flesh, he had simply watched coldly from the sidelines.

Not only had he watched, but he had also summoned lustful snow serpents, wanting to crush both my body and spirit into dust. When I fought desperately to kill him, he just said, "You killed Vee. Even killing you 10,000 times would be justified."

Eventually, I fell into a ravine. I was barely alive, but the fox spirit still grabbed me by the throat. He forced poison down my throat but kept me alive with healing elixirs.

I lost all five senses, and my nerves were severed one by one. The bone-deep agony had even made me wish for death. Later, when he grew bored, he thought of ending me with a single sword strike.

However, when I woke up again, I found myself in the lion shifter's hands. He hung me in a dungeon and used every torture device imaginable until I became nothing but rotting flesh.

"If not for that face, you would've died long ago."

For three years, I used every method possible to escape, just hoping to see if my parents were safe. However, after fighting desperately to crawl back to the palace, I was met with betrayal from my entire family and a sword through the heart.

At that moment, I was staring coldly at Mother. My gaze unsettled her, and she was about to question me when a group of people suddenly poured in from outside.

Mother looked at them in surprise. "Why are you here?"

"The crown princess was wise and benevolent, beloved by the people. She died so suddenly. We subjects only wish to mourn and pay our respects."

Mother watched helplessly as her maternal relatives went to pay their respects before Victoria's coffin, her anxiety barely concealed. "Who told you to notify them?"

"Vee had always loved lively gatherings. If she knew how beloved she was, she'd surely be happy," I said sincerely.

Mother clenched her teeth in anger, furious that I had brought so many people here, creating future complications for Victoria's resurrection.

She could not lose her temper, though. She had only herself to blame for delegating trivial matters to me while she enjoyed her luxuries. As it appeared that I was acting with good intentions, my actions were deemed perfectly reasonable.

After Mother's relatives finished paying their respects to Victoria, they began consoling her. "The crown princess's sudden death is truly a tragedy for the people. Your Highness, do take care of your health and try not to wallow in grief."

They spoke earnestly, and Mother was forced to divide her attention to deal with them. She did not even notice when I brought in the professional mourners. It was only when they began beating the drums that someone exclaimed in amazement.

"The crown princess truly has lasting blessings. She's responding to the funeral songs so quickly."

The great hall fell silent for a moment. Mother's expression changed as she rushed forward to carefully examine the burial cloth covering Victoria.

"Who invited you people? Does a princess need lowly commoners like you to mourn for her?"

The mourning troupe stopped and quietly turned their gazes toward me. I quickly stepped forward and knelt, saying pitifully, "Mother, I invited them from the beast kingdoms to send Vee off. I heard Vee had always wanted us to be at peace. I just hope she'll be happy now that she has passed on."

Mother pointed at me angrily. "You..."

She was too furious to speak. Everyone kept their heads lowered, and the implication was obvious. Even so, she still refused to back down.

"Serena Songworth, just how many times have you acted without my permission?"

I was very familiar with that kind of look. I knew they would never let me go as they would never forget a grudge.I smiled slightly and, under their puzzled gazes, raised my hand to cast a spell. They froze for a moment, but after realizing it was just a simple communication spell, they burst into laughter."Fool! Only now did you think to call for help?"With that, Caspian rushed toward me with the other two close behind. However, before I could defend myself, a figure quickly arrived and shielded me from behind."Don't be afraid!"I quickly stepped aside while Felix cried out in shock, "It's you!"The other two were stunned, but before they could react, they were surrounded by hidden guards who had emerged from the bushes. The newcomer was none other than Leo's brother. Noble families were fiercely competitive, and beastmen traditionally had many brothers. In my previous life, after my hearing partially recovered, I memorized everything they said and did. Leo had constantly

When Victoria was pulled back up by another rope tied to her body, she was covered in wounds. Her arms and legs were bent at unnatural angles. Felix skillfully pried open her jaw to force medicine down her throat.Mother sobbed uncontrollably. Victoria reopened her eyes and immediately crawled forward, bowing repeatedly as she tried to apologize."I shouldn't have toyed with you...""Shut up." The three beastmen gave her no chance to speak, kicking her over with a single blow."Was it fun?""No, it wasn't.""Hmm?" Leo raised an eyebrow.Victoria hastily said, "Yes, yes! It was fun."Felix looked satisfied. "But since you've had your fun, it's time for someone else to take your place. How about that old woman who helped you fake your death?""What?" Mother's face turned deathly pale as she backed away frantically, but Victoria nodded enthusiastically."Yes! That works!"She cried out to Mother in the same wheedling tone she always used, "Mother, you won't abandon me, will y

The court erupted in chaos because of that day's events. Many ministers and royal relatives had witnessed Mother and Victoria's fake performance, leaving them with no reasonable explanation. This made Mother's already mediocre political achievements look more pathetic. The people's support of me only grew stronger.Mother used her maternal family's connections to barely suppress the matter, but Victoria was still missing.I watched as many new wrinkles appeared on Mother's face. In my previous life, when I was tortured for three years and returned to the palace after hiding and fleeing, she had shown no signs of aging and had even been cheerful and smiling. The difference in how she treated us was painfully clear."What are you still doing here? Get out and find your sister! How can you be so shameless? You're a cold-blooded monster who only cares about power!"Mother frantically beat me, forcing me to leave. I dodged her impatiently.Just as I was about to mock her, a spirit be

The three beastmen spoke in a cold, threatening tone as they questioned Victoria."If you explain yourself clearly, I might still be willing to love only you.""You accepted so many precious gifts from me, but now, you fake your death and claim we're just friends?""If you've truly had a change of heart, turning you into a puppet wouldn't be excessive."They seemed quite willing to listen to her explanation, but Victoria mistakenly believed she still held the upper hand. She collapsed weakly on the ground, displaying her most fragile side while desperately trying to think. The people around them were deeply shocked and could not help whispering among themselves."Good heavens. How could she commit such shameless acts? No wonder they came looking for her.""Didn't the crown princess always preach that beastmen were inferior? How did she end up with three of them?"By now, everything had become both clear and absurd. Mother, as the main participant, did not dare say a word. She w

Felix reacted swiftly, immediately grabbing Mother by the throat. Everyone froze, not daring to make any sudden moves. They were stunned speechless by what they were witnessing."Oh, this… This is..." Everyone was clearly confused by Victoria's 'resurrection' and romantic entanglements."What's going on?" Felix narrowed his eyes, suddenly realizing there was more to this situation. When he first read Victoria's farewell message, he had assumed she was throwing a tantrum and leaving. However, a day ago, someone suddenly informed him of Victoria's whereabouts. He rushed here in haste, only to encounter the other two beastmen, resulting in this mess. The people he questioned did not dare to answer, so Felix tightened his grip around the throat of the man in his hand. The man trembled as he explained, "The crown princess fell off a cliff and died a few days ago. She's supposed to be buried today, but now, she has risen from the dead...""Risen from the dead?" The lion shifter, Leo,

  • Escaping Three Beastmen   Chapter 5

By the third day, Mother voluntarily proposed a simple burial for Victoria, claiming it was to prevent her from ruining the kingdom's fortune. I had no reason to object and naturally let her proceed.Even so, how could I simply allow her to help Victoria escape through this elaborate scheme? The moment I opened my eyes this morning, I had someone announce the burial. By now, all the court ministers would know about it.I claimed that Mother wanted to accompany Victoria on her final journey alone and had requested the officials and me to join later. When the coffin was carried outside the palace, Victoria, disheveled and dirty, could not help but start crying."Mother, it's so stuffy. Let me get some air first."Mother felt deeply sorry for her and immediately planned to let her out."Your Majesty!"Both Mother and Victoria were startled. The officials and I had actually caught up with them. She shot me a hateful glance but dared not delay any longer."Since you're all here, le
