Kaelion’s POV

Kaelion Voss Blackthorne wasn’t sure what was happening to him. Seraphina Ravenwood was what has happened to him.

He had always prided himself on being in control—of his pack, of his emotions, of his own heart. But ever since this morning, ever since Seraphina had changed, a strange, unshakable tension had settled inside him.

She had never been this way before.

She had always been soft, patient, never demanding more than he was willing to give. He had thought that was what made her easy to be around—her unwavering devotion, her quiet acceptance of whatever role he placed her in.

But now?

Now she was different. Totally different.

She had clung to him, whispered to him, let him carry her around like she belonged to him in a way that felt different from before. And he had liked it. More than liked it.

And then, she had turned around and ignored him. This was new. Nobody ignored him, ever and Seraphina was going to pay for that. He was going to own her, possess her. He had never desired anyone else like he did for her, he was going to posess her, soon.

Kaelion sat in his office, fingers drumming against the wooden desk. His eyes burned into the reports in front of him, but none of the words were registering. His mind kept drifting back to the courtyard, back to the moment he had walked outside and seen her.

Seraphina had been sitting beneath the willow tree, golden sunlight casting a soft glow over her delicate features. She had looked breathtaking, almost untouchable. Just like a royal, a Queen, his Luna.

But she hadn’t been alone and that irked him.

Darius had been standing beside her. Talking to her. Making her laugh.

Kaelion clenched his jaw. He had never cared who she spoke to before, never thought twice when she spent time with the other pack members. And yet, when he had seen that smile—the one that was supposed to be his—directed at someone else, something inside him had snapped.

The possessiveness that had always lingered in the background had surged forward like an unstoppable force. He had dismissed Darius with barely a glance, but the moment Seraphina turned to face him, there had been something mocking in her gaze. Something different.

Like she had known exactly what she was doing. But Seraphina was never like this, she was so damn innocent, she could never play such games.

"You’re here," she had said. Not I missed you. Not Where have you been? Just a simple, detached observation, as if his presence wasn’t the most important thing in the world.

And for the first time in his life, Kaelion had felt insignificant.

That had never happened before.

He had pulled her close, testing her, waiting for her to soften the way she always did. Instead, she had met his intensity with a teasing smirk, her voice laced with something he couldn’t quite place.

"You’re acting a little possessive, Kael."

He had wanted to growl, to pin her against him, to remind her exactly who she belonged to.

Instead, he had whispered the truth.

"I am possessive, Seraphina. You know that."

And she had smiled. Not the soft, adoring smile he was used to, but a slow, knowing curve of her lips. A seductive smile so unlike her. As if she was in control.

That unsettled him.

Now, hours later, he still couldn’t stop thinking about it.

She was playing with him.

He wasn’t sure how or why, but she was.

And the worst part?

He was letting her.

Kaelion exhaled sharply, pushing his chair back and rising to his feet. The room suddenly felt too small, too constricting. He needed to see her. To unravel this sudden mystery that was Seraphina.

He found her in her chambers, sitting on the edge of the bed, combing through her long, dark waves. She didn’t even look up when he entered, didn’t acknowledge his presence in the way she normally would have.

He hated that.

Kaelion crossed the room in two strides, standing in front of her, forcing her to meet his gaze.

"You’ve been avoiding me," he said, his voice rough.

Seraphina finally looked up, amusement flickering in her golden eyes. "Avoiding you? I’ve been here the whole time, Kael."

He narrowed his eyes. "Don’t play games with me."

She tilted her head, feigning innocence. "I wouldn’t dare."

Something about the way she said it—soft, sweet, but with an underlying sharpness—made his blood hum.

Kaelion knelt in front of her, placing his hands on either side of her hips, trapping her in place. "Tell me what changed," he demanded, his voice low. "Why are you suddenly acting like this?"

She blinked, her lashes fluttering like she was actually considering his question. Then, she leaned in, just a fraction, just enough for him to feel the warmth of her breath against his skin.

"Maybe," she whispered, "I just realized what I really want."

His fingers dug into her waist, not enough to hurt, but enough to let her know he was losing patience. "And what’s that?"

Seraphina smiled. That slow, teasing smile that sent a spark of frustration through him.

"You’ll find out soon enough."

His grip tightened. She was toying with him. Tempting him. And the worst part? He couldn’t do a damn thing about it.

Because the moment he tried to push, she would pull away.

And he wasn’t sure he could take that.

Kaelion exhaled sharply, pulling back, forcing himself to regain some semblance of control. He wasn’t used to this—this chase.

Seraphina had always been his. But now, for the first time, it felt like she was slipping through his fingers.

And he couldn’t allow that.

As he left the room, he made a silent vow.

Whatever this was—whatever game she was playing—he would win.

He would make her his again. Completely.

Because Seraphina was his.

And he wasn’t letting her go.
