Chapter 41 - I See You

Ares’s POV

“BECAUSE!” I shouted.

“BECAUSE WHY?” She screamed back at me. God her body was a fucking temple and she was denying me admittance at the current moment. She was pissed at me for taking her away from her father’s palace. She didn’t trust me. I felt it from our mate bond. If she would just let me touch her, I could reassure her, but she wouldn’t let me near her.

“Because I created this place to keep my father and his warriors out! I outfitted it with state-of-the-art retracting steel doors and windows and scent blocking barrier technology years ago!” I shout at her. I hated reopening old wounds, and she was making me do just that. She was scratching at my scabs that had barely healed emotionally. I didn’t want to revisit those memories but she was giving me no choice. I sat at a chair across the room and put my head in my hands fighting back the tears that were welling up in my eyes as flashback after flashback surfaced.
