Chapter 5
Ethan was a little sad when he realized Emma was all grown up. He'd never called her anything but Bug their entire lives. He knew that soon it would be up to someone else to protect her and surprisingly that seemed okay to him. He was lost in these thoughts as he started to head upstairs to get ready for their party, he was actually more excited for Emma than himself. Just as his foot hit the bottom stair the doorbell rang.
He knew it would be Katie as he yanked the door open, in an attempt, to scare her. This was a little game they played together. He would scare the shit out of her and she would stumble, drop something or knock into the closest object. It worked again! He yanked the door open and as if on cue, she dumped out the entire contents of her bag.

Ethan's mind was a whirlwind of emotions as he drove himself to the venue. In all honesty, he'd hoped he had followed all traffic laws on his way because he'd driven on autopilot, his mind too busy to remember if he'd stopped at lights or signs. "Ethan, can you come here a minute?" Ethan heard the familiar voice of Bella, his lab partner in his high school chemistry class.
