This was a very hard chapter to write! Let me know what you think. Thank you so much for reading. <3
Kendra stared at the Silver haired witch in fear, and horror and amazement and— and mortification. Yes, a whole myriad of feelings and emotions. “You... you killed him.” She whispered as she stared at the General’s charred remains still emanating wisps of smoke. “Well, I’m pretty sure we can all agree that he had it coming,” Morgana said testily as she dusted her hands clean. “Why my sisters and I were helping him in the first place, I have no idea... I guess I became too fond of him and blind to the monster he was becoming, but I’m glad that I put was able to put a stop to it after all,” She admitted softly, lifting up her head to shoot Kendra a sad smile. Kendra could see the tears in her eyes. It hadn’t particularly been an easy feat for her after all like it had seemed. The thing was that Morgana had seen it all… her interference in altering the course of destiny had been because she could not bear to see that much massacre. Maybe she was growing too weak… becoming too soft to h
CHAPTER 67- THE NEW ALPHA“Now what?” Kendra asked later that evening as she sat along with the other six at their usual spot around the High table in the library, each of them sporting looks of weariness and dreariness at how things had turned out. They had been successful in defending Dnakle... or scratch that, the fates had worked in their favour, but even then, they were unable to celebrate their little victory because of how misery still hung in the air. Every now and then a loud wail would pierce the air, wafting into the opened library as some wolf mourned the loss of a loved one, the sound striking chords in their hearts as each of them realised just how close they had been to being in the same position, or even worse... dead. For Kendra and Killian, the feeling was even more intense. It was very much obvious in the way they clung to each other, having not left the other’s side for once even with all the day’s strenuous activities. But they were still here. They were still al
68. ATTA GIRLThe vigil was a beautifully resplendent, and a truly elaborate ceremony. Well as beautiful as a funeral ceremony could be anyway. The entire pack was up between the wee hours of dawn and midnight old and young alike, dressed in formal attires of midnight black with no trace of any other colour... just as werewolf culture demanded. Candles lit up the grand courtyard, just enough to provide some light as the healer, who had thankfully made it back in time for the ceremony gave the final words and performed the concluding rights, but it did not matter anyway... was not really needed. The moon gave just enough light, its ivory coloured illuminance making the whole presentation almost otherworldly, blending in with the golden light of candles and the dark midnight of clothes to create a harmonious explosion of colour. And then all the candle lights were turned off, the huge, elegant pyre set up.The names of the dead were mentioned, and then they were placed on the pyre as t
“How are you feeling, child?” Alpha Joffrey asked his only child almost an hour to the handing over ceremony. He had summoned her into his personal chambers for a chat, an act that he had not done in a very, very long time. As a matter of fact, Aiyisha could practically count the number of times that had happened all through her life on just one hand, and she was pretty sure a few fingers would have even been left if she did.The last thing she had expected him to ask when she had come before his presence was how she was feeling... not once in a million years had that thought even crossed her mind.Perhaps, if he had said he had changed his mind on handing her the position and decided to give it to someone else instead, then sure... that was something she would not put past him, but this? This father seeming genuinely interested in his daughter’s wellbeing and feelings? This was definitely going to take some getting used to for sure.“I—I’m fine, father... I should be the one asking
CHAPTER 70- EXPOSED “Adua, come on... you need to take your lessons seriously. You surely do not want to be a maid forever, do you?” Yelena shot her friend a pointed look as she glared at her in frustration. They were going through some grammar books in the library that warm Sunday afternoon, with Yelena filling in for Aiyisha now that the woman had other far grand responsibilities to attend to. She had been enjoying the lessons when they had started, but now it looked like her friend’s concentration had drastically diminished, and for the love of her, she did not know what to do to rekindle it. “No you come on, Yelena... but what be wrong wif being a maid? I be okay wif my station. I am happy.” The chubby brunette grinned beautifully for emphasis. “That is not the point, Adua...” The violet eyed girl insisted, “...becoming more fluent in English will give you a better paying job, and then you will earn more money to live a comfortable life.” “I can marry,” Adua wiggled her eyebrow
CHAPTER 71- CLAIMING HER AS HIS“B—but that is impossible, Aiyisha,” Retired Alpha, Joffrey von Sterling stuttered in disbelief.“Oh, but it very much is possible, father...” She said coolly, and then turning to the girl in question, she ordered, “Now, why don’t you tell him how true that is, Yelena?”Tears stood in the brunette haired wolf’s eyes as she mourned her relationship with the female Alpha before her secret had been found out. As it was now, she did not think it would be restored back in any way. Even she could see how the whole thing looked— hiding such a huge thing as being the old retired Alpha’s daughter.— What else could it be for if she truly did not have ill intentions? It did not even matter that that was not the case… that was most certainly not how she was going to come across in the eyes of anyone who heard the story.“It is true my lord... you are my father,” She admitted at the female Alpha’s cold push, her eyes downcast in respect and sadness, but all she got
CHAPTER 72- PREPARATIONS “Now who would have thought it?” Kendra mused out loud in reference to Yelena and Aiyisha being siblings as she dug into her chicken with relish. Her mouth was stuffed even as she spoke, a bush act, yes she knew... one that would have probably had her kicked from human society had she been in their midst for sure, but she was pretty sure her friends did not mind. Not much, at least. Or at least that was what she hoped. And as for her mate, if the mesmerised way he was staring at her was any indication, he did not mind at all. She and Killian had rather been cooped up in his room the whole of yesterday, seeing as he had had some unfulfilled promises to deliver on (Pleasuring her senseless, among other things), but unfortunately for them, they seemed to have missed out on quite a lot, starting with Yelena being Aiyisha’s sister. It was funny, how all the juicy stuff waited for them to be absent before deciding to happen. “Actually, I would have thought it,” S
CHAPTER 73- THE RED MOON By five o’clock in the evening, the entire skies were already dark with night. Birds of the sky, confused by the sudden darkness, littered the skies, fleeing to their homes where they would safely spend the night. Bats on the other hand came out with relish, not knowing what was happening, but glad that they had the cover of darkness to go about their nocturnal activities. Everyone in Dnakle was on edge, from the oldest of wolves to even the littlest of pups. “It is not going to be good, Aiyisha…” Yelena tsked in despair as she looked up at the skies for what was most probably the hundredth time that night. They had kept everyone as hidden from the quickly darkening moon as possible, making sure that those who did not want to find partners were sent straight down to the grandiose basement. What was the point in keeping them above ground where they would just be more numbers for casualties? “Are you looking to find a partner tonight?” The younger wolf asked h
