It was almost an hour before the twins and Eva’s father walked through the door. Eva had been awkwardly sitting on the sofa with Tina glaring at her in silence. Eva did no want to be here and it was obvious the feeling was mutual.
The twins rushed through the door and bundled on Eva causing her to break out into a huge smile for the first time in forever. Evas dad stood in the shadow of the doorway studying the scene in fron tof him. He noticed how annoyed his wife looked sitting with a blank look on her face. The twins on the other hand were full of excitement and happiness to see their big sister. Tims eyes fell onto the tall slim young teenager, she was beautiful. Her long auburn hair was plaited in two french plaits and she had her mothers smile. Tim felt saddened that he had missed out on so much of his daughters life. He was determined to make up for it now though. “Everly Janice Smith, wow look how youve grown. Almost Taller than your old man, i see.” he entered the room and held out his hands to hi smiling daughter. She looked up from the twins and gasped at the sight of her father. He was just as she had always remembered him. He was grinning with happiness and eva was sure she saw a tear in his eyes. “Hi dad, long time no see.” she smiled back at him as he embraced her for a long awaited hug. She was the image of her mother and tim took a deep breath as he tried i compose himself. He had always loved his daughter and his ex wife. Things had happened and he had no choice but to leave. His daughters mother had made him swear to keep away and never tell the true reason. Looking at his daughter in the flesh and holding her in his ams made him feel complete. It did not matter that his current wife was throwimng daggers his way. Of course she did not want eva to come to their home. She was a reminder of the fact that tim would truly only ever love that one woman. Evas mother. “Mummy whats for dinner?” the twins jumped up and down excitedly as tim suggested they go out for a meal together. Tina did not seem to keen on the idea but agreed because she did not want her twins to be upset. Eddie and Millie rushed to their bedrooms to get changed and dragged Eva up with them. Tim followed. “Do you want to show your sister her new room?” the twins nodded and eva chuckled at their enthusiasm. Eva was shocked when she saw her bedroom, it was on the second floor just down from the twins. She had her own bathroom and a huge double bed. Next to it was a desk and a brand new macbook laptop. Eva was gobsmacked. Millie showed eva to a walk in closet which was packed with clothes and shoes. Eva tuedn to her father in disbeeif. “Is all this for me?” she cried. Tim nodded that it was. He felt a surge of guilt fill him that his daughter had had to leave her life behind and wanted something to make her feel at home. He had made sure she had everything that she would possibly need. “ it doesnt make up for my absence in your life but i hope it will help you to feel a little more comfortable here since this is your home now too.” he told her. “Wow, thanks so much.” she stepped into the walk in closet and started to pull out clothes, choosing what to wear she smiled at her little sister who insisted on helping her choose a beautiful necklace with the letter e on it. “You look beautiful.” tim said as eva walked down the stairs half an hour later. Tina was behind him and her eyes almost popped out when she saw eva. Even she could not deny her step daughter was stunning. She still was not happy that her husbands daughter had come to stay with them. She worried it would disrupt her twin's routine and what would her friends say about this girl being in her home. With a mother like hers, she was bound to become a disgraceful woman. Tina had never liked Tims ex-wife. She knew he loved her even after all this time. It was only because of her father owned such a well off company that Tim was doing so well financially. He had helped Tim so much by giving him an opportunity of a life time. Tina did not feel that Eva deserved to benefit from such wealth since it were her twins that should be in line not her. It did not matter to Tina that Eva was also his daughter. She were not Tina’s blood so why should she get such luxury? Tina watched in jealousy as Tim could not take his eyes off his beautiful daughter. Tina hated that she would no longer have her husband's full attention. If she had her way then Eva would be on to next flight back to England. “Shall we go?” Tim held his arm out to Eva who grinned as she slipped her arm into his. Tina followed behind them with a fed up look, while the twins rushed off in front. Eddie and Millie were arguing over who would sit next to Eva, much to their mothers horror. “Eddie and Millie, do you not know better than to behave in such a manner?” Tina roared, causing the twins to immediately stand up straight. Eva was taken aback by their mothers military style of parenting. “Let's go.” Tim rolled his eyes at Eva causing her to giggle and gain a dagger look from Tina. They piled into the car and buckled themselves in. Tina was silent for the whole journey and Tim decided to let her be, he was not going to let her destroy his night.Eva woke to her alarm going off, she groaned as she pulled the duvet right up over her head and realised today was the day she started at her brand new school. Only one year! That's all it was going to be then she could go home where she longed to be more than anything. Eva had enjoyed their evening out last night, although Tina had not exactly made her feel welcomed, the twins certainly made up for their mother's hostility. Quickly getting up and throwing her feet over the edge of the bed she felt for her favourite fluffy slippers and shrieked when a hand grabbed her ankle and she heard two muffled giggles from underneath the bed. Eva rolled her eyes and grinned with amusement at her twin siblings trying to prank her like that. It was nice to have a little brother and sister around. “Oh I spy two little monsters that need a good tickle.” she teased as they both shrieked with laughter and jumped on her messy bed. Millie was thrilled to have a big sister to look up to while Eddi
Eva stepped up the pathway and took in the new surroundings that would now be her new school, during the last year of her school journey. She took a deep breath and gripped her bag tightly to her chest. “Name?” Eva stopped and looked at the tall figure blocking the doorway. He was huge, over six feet and had a clipboard in his hands. “Eva Smith,” she stated and the man glanced at her for a second before turning back to his clipboard. He grunted when he found her name and allowed her to enter. “This is your class schedule. She will show you where you need to be.” He handed Eva the information that she needed and pointed to a girl opposite. The girl was wearing a name tag which read Nessie. Eva noticed that she was a pretty girl with glasses and probably a bit of a nerd. She was dressed in a smart white shirt with a black tie that matched her black skirt and tights. Her shoes looked hideous to Eva but she didn't say a word about that. “Hi Eva. Welcome to our school. I will show
Eva was in so much trouble. Her father was going to be so furious when he found out about this. Not that Eva blamed him. She was annoyed at herself for letting someone tear her down and make her lose her temper on the first day at her new school. Tina was going to have a field day since she already hated having her stepdaughter living in her home. She would probably kick her to the curb if we had her way. Eva was sitting in the office waiting to be called in to see the head. Megan was opposite her and throwing a dagger looking her way. They were both silents. The door opened and the head teacher appeared. He did not look too impressed at the sight of the two girls in front of him.“What's the meaning of this?” he demanded to know. “It was my fault, sir,” Megan said through fake crocodile tears. Eva frowned wondering what she was up to. “I walked into her and in apologised but she lost her temper and attacked me.” Megan wept. Eva could not believe the nerve of this girl. She had
Tina was fuming when she found out that Eva had been sent home early for fighting. She hated the fact that this would be a bad influence on her twins. They had always been so well behaved and Tina could see how happy that they were to finally have their big sister with them. “Do you think this is funny?” She shouted at Tim and glanced at the clock to notice it was almost time to pick up the twins. Tim shrugged his shoulder and stirred his coffee like it was no big deal at all. Eva did not like the way that her stepmother had a huge problem with her being in their home. She wanted to make an effort. “I will come along with you to pick up the twins?” Eva suggested but the look of horror on Tina’s face made her stifle a laughter. Tim was certain that she needed to just lighten up a little, she was far to Snobby sometimes. “No. I can manage.” She grumbled before stomping off to the car. She did not even say bye but Tim was not fussed about her right now. He would have words with his
Eva sat on her bed and quietly stared at the wall where she had placed so many photographs of her childhood with her mother. Both of them happy and smiling. Eva felt her eyes begin to well up with tears as she looked at the photo, remembering the good times. Why had her mother had to leave her?She missed her so much. Wiping her wet cheeks with the palm of her hands, Eva picked up her phone from the bedside unit and frowned at the unknown caller id. She decided to ignore it but a few seconds later, it came up again. Whoever was ringing certainly did not give up so easily. Feeling slightly irritated, Eva picked up the phone and said hello. Nothing. “Who is this?” she sighed, not in the mood to be messed about. “Eva?” She froze at the sound of the familiar female voice on the other end of the phone.Lara. She sounded really upset but then Eva wondered why should she care since her so-called best friend had stolen her boyfriend and ruined her trust. Who does that? “What the he
“Tina, I would suggest that you go back downstairs right now.” Tim stood up and pointed towards his sneering wife. Eva was astonished by her father's firm and demanding tone of voice. “You need to tell that girl the truth. Her mother was nothing special anyway.” Tina glared at Eva with so much hatred in her eyes that Eva was speechless. Tim watched as his wife walked away slamming the door behind her. Who did she be that she was? Tim was beginning to really regret ever getting with this crazy woman. She had always been jealous of Eva's Mother. Turning back towards his daughter he noted how worried she had become. “It's ok, Eva. She won't hurt you. She's just upset.” Tim said trying his best to reassure her. He knew that Tina would have told Eva the truth if he had not stopped her right there and then. He realised that he could not keep it a secret any longer. He needed to tell his daughter the truth. No more lying. No more secrets. “Eva, lets go for a drive. I think we need
The beep of a car horn forced Eva back to reality with a huge thud. “Watch where you're going stupid girl.” The driver shouted angrily out the window as he drive on by. Eva sighed and looked around her. She was in the town centre now. It was not so busy since it was quite late in the early evening now. She wiped her face and pulled her jacket over her more as it was getting slightly colder now. Remembering that she had her phone in the pocket of her jeans and looked at it to see no new notifications. That meant that they were still too busy arguing to notice that she had left. Eva hoped that Millie and Eddie were ok. It could not be very nice for them to have their parents argue and disagree like they were doing. She knew that it would be a strange adjustment for the little ones to have their big sister come to live with them. Spotting a small case across the road, she decided to go on there for a hot drink and to sit so she could calm down and gather her thoughts. Nobody wou
Tim was furious when he discovered that Eva had disappeared. “This is all your fault.” he turned on Tina and shouted. She smirked, reapplying her lipstick and feeling satisfied that the girl had gone. She hoped that Eva would not come back anytime soon, or at all if she were that lucky. “Maybe you will remember you have a family now. That bitch was never worthy of you anyway.” Tina spat. Tim could not believe what he was hearing. She was so spiteful. How did he ever agree to marry her! “Daddy, is our sister ok?” Millie tugged at her fathers sleeve and looked up at him with wide eyes. Tim softened at the sight of her. He bent down to pick Millie up. Tina ignored them and walked to the garden with a glass of wine. She disgusted Tim. She was not who he had thought her to be. Not at all. Stroking the hair from his daughter's face, he smiled and nodded. It was hard for him to not get so emotional since he wanted to go out there and find his girl. She could be anywher
