I think this is the time I die. I widened my eyes at Kieran in shock while he stared expressionlessly at me. I can't tell if he was also as flabbergasted as I was or not with that blank look on his face. If he thinks he is going to be my step brother and also my boss, then he is crazy, crazier than I thought. "You fucking asshole!" I cursed him aloud after recovering from my shock "This is also part of your plan right?" He creased his brows, his mouth twisted like he was confused "My plan?" "Yes, your fucking plan!" I threw my arms up in rage "The step sibling thing, the way I magically appeared in your bedroom when you could have taken me to another bedroom, Keiran, you could have taken me to any other bedroom—wait...." I narrowed my eyes when something clicked in "Did you carry me?" He thinned his eyes at me "You thought I flung you into my bedroom?" He asked back. "You can just say yes or no" I said, irritated. He bit his lower lip for a second, running his eyes down my body. "Yes. I carried you" Bastard. "Did you carry me over your shoulder, or bridal style?" I asked, still upset that he had touched my body. "Bridal style of course! You were unconscious, Virgin" "Don't call me–" I stopped yelling to exhale softly. This guy is making me go crazy "You know what? I'm leaving" "Wait, just like that?" His eyes were following me as I turned towards the door. "You can't just leave" He said calmly, easily grabbing my arm with his strong hand. I felt the heat from his hand pass to every part of my body. I breathed quietly and snatched my hand from his grip "You can't touch me like that and tell me 'I can't just leave' " "Tanya, please" He pleaded in his deep voice, surprising me. He is begging me? "Just....have a seat" He said the last three words softly. Too soft. I didn't want to listen to him, but his blue eyes....they were hypnotic, and no, they can't bewitch me. "Please" He begged again, pocketing his hands. That is an arrogant way of begging if you ask me, but honestly, it was hot. "I don't want our parents getting suspicious of whatever is going on between us" He said, staring at me with an expression that is hard to define. With a huff and a flip of my hair, I sat on the black leather chair that was in front of the brown, large desk. "Thank you" He said when I took my seat. He sounded honest but I scoffed as a response to his appreciation. I don't care. He sat on the chair across the table, his eyes bright with glints in them and his lips slightly stretched in a smile. "Don't smile at me, just go straight to the point" I said curtly. He stayed calm on his seat, his gaze cool. I expected him to say something, and I hoped he would confess he had planned this whole thing but instead he stayed quiet. He scanned one the printed resume on his desk, then glanced up at me. I glared at him and he bent his head back to his desk, moving his attention from the hard copy resume to the soft copy on his computer monitor, then returned his focus to me again. "I have reviewed the resume you sent online and I must say that I am impressed" I rolled my eyes. "You got the job" He announced. "What? Just like that?" I asked between mocking laughter. "Yes. You got the job" He said coolly. "I don't want the job" I pointed to my chest, noticing the way his eyes flicked there briefly. "I need you in my company" He stated with his authoritative tone. I looked steadily at him "Why? So you you can make my life a living hell?" "No! I just want you here" He said quickly. I tilted my head, not trusting him "Why?" "Because you are the only girl that can work close to me and not think of....of favoritism" "The only girl, huh?" I was now mocking him and he knew but he ignored my unkind tone. "Yes" That response got me laughing. "I'm serious!" He lifted his broad shoulders lightly, his voice louder "Other girls wants to be my secretary just so they can end up in my bed. I can see that in their outfits" I noticed too. I just didn't think they would want favoritism so bad, and I wouldn't be surpised if they push favoritism aside and try to seduce Kieran all because of his biceps that were easily noticeable in his white shirt, and his bewitching eyes. He carried on, looking very serious "It's really not okay for me as the boss. You know how many boobs were opened for me to check out today?" He blurted out. My mouth opened. "Seriously? You were checking their boobs?" "No....." I slanted my head. He compressed his lips "Yes...." I gave him a pointed stare. "They showed me okay? I didn't intend to look" He explained but I rolled my eyes like I didn't care, but I felt weird that he had checked out other girls boobs. "Whatever" I said, rising to my feet. "I am not working for you" He copied my action. "Tanya, you are resuming on Monday" "No" I told him sternly. "We can sort this—" "I SAID NOOO!" I screamed. "Okay, Jesus" He said without flinching. "But you have to work for me, you know that, right?" I halted and half turned my body to him. "I am going to kill you Kieran if you don't shut up" "No, you won't" He stared blankly at me. "And you still have to work for me" He pressed. I turned my full body to him "Why do you even think I would want to work for you, huh?" He gave a lopsided smile "Because, my dear...." I'm not his fucking 'dear'. "You don't want our parents thinking we are really not good terms, do you?" I pulled my lower lip into my mouth to bite hard on it. He is right. I wouldn't want my mum raising her eyebrows at me, asking me why I didn't want to work for Kieran, but hold on.... "She does not know this is your company, so I can just tell her that I didn't get the job" I said, gesticulating with my hands. He smirked, his eyes glinting with wickedness. "You see, there's something you don't know...." I didn't take my eyes off him, listening attentively. "In one way or the other, my dad would find a way to fix you into my company" I bit my lip harder. He continued "And when he does, you would have no choice but to be my secretary because your mum would be involved and you wouldn't want her to ask questions about—" "Cut the bullshit, Kieran, we both know I already know your plan" I said, staring boldly at him. "My plan again" He mumbled, pushing his fingers into his soft hair. "Yes, everything" I said confidently. "Virgin, stop. I don't know what you're talking about" His voice was not holding any power or anger. "Everything that has happened....It wasn't me, okay? It's beyond my power to change anything" "You're lying" I uttered but he remained relaxed. "You can chose not to employ me, Kieran, it's your company, you can change anything" He penetrated his gaze into me. "No" He said firmly in a hot whisper "If I can change everything in my company, I would not change your position as my personal secretary" "You have to" He came closer, while I stood rooted on a spot "Your fierceness is beautiful" His eyes twinkled with amusement "And that makes me not want to change anything" "Why are you so bent on making me miserable!" I cried, spreading my arms. "You have always been like this since high school, always mapping out plans to make things work in your favour alone" He parted his lips, his eyes getting dim. "Why, Kieran?" I whispered. He fixed his perusal on me and I wanted to coil on the ground at the intensity of his gaze. "I am not doing this to make your life miserable, Virgin" There was truth in his blue eyes but I won't let that deceive me "Then why? Why do you want me to work for me? Why are you so stubborn?" "I just want to fix things" I frowned, wondering if that was a joke even when he looked serious. "And I had to be stubborn because you are stubborn too" He pocketed his hands in his black, fitted pants and my gaze swept over him. "I wanted to do something about your job, but now...." His sinful eyes did a once over that made me suck in a soft breath "Seeing you like this in my office...." He came nearer, our fingers almost touching "I don't want to change anything anymore" He whispered hotly in my ear. "Fine!" I breathed roughly, moving backwards "I'll resume on Monday, okay? I'll work for you or is that not what you want?" I spread my arms wide "You always get you what you want, at any fucking time you like from who ever you want to fucking get it from, that's how it's been from high school, isn't it?" He shook his head "V...." "No, don't fucking V me there, alright?" I warned him strictly. He is calling me V, as in Virgin. Seriously. How could he? The name 'Virgin' is beautiful but it was painted bad when Kieran mocked me with it in highschool because of my weakness, my modest outfits and my innocence at that time. "Hey, V...." He tried again but I stopped him by giving him one of my killing glares. Thankfully, he kept quiet, but his silence was not going to change things. He already made his decision and nothing would make him change his mind. How am I supposed to face him on Monday? And what's up with him telling me he wants to fix things? How will I even survive staying in the same environment with him for minuites? Hours? The thought of facing him again not only angers me, it also makes me nervous. So nervous.[Tanya]"Kiss me."Kieran smirked at me, drawing me closer until his mouth was just below my ear. "Gladly, my lady." His grip on my waist hardened, bringing a passionate spark between us, then he lowered his head for a french kiss, so deep and breathless, filled with pure fervor. ****[Tanya]A wide smile spread across my face as I heard the tall priest say:"You may now kiss the bride"People clapped loudly and screamed happily at the top of their lungs, including me. Yep, that's right.... including me. I wasn't the one getting married. It was my mum. Shawn had proposed to her about four months ago during dinner at his place, and today, they had their I do's. It was so emotional. I smiled wider as she kissed the love of her life. "Eeew" Lyra and I chorused, feigning irritation as we watched them kiss passionately. "We are finally real sisters!" Lyra said after the kiss and hugged me. I hugged her back, beaming. I looked to my side and saw the love of my own life, standing so
[Tanya]What do you say to a guy you refused to speak with the last time because you parents and his ex lover had caught you kissing. What do I say after he's said hi?Kieran took the couch, occupying the space beside me. My pulse quickened more. "I spoke with my dad" he said in a sibilant mumur that I almost didn't grasp his words, and when I did, my conversation with John came tumbling to my mind. "I'm sorry" I said in an undertone. He flicked his fingers over his left brow, shutting and opening his eyes quickly. "Tanya, don't do that""John told me everything"If Kieran was surprised, he didn't show it. He rubbed his hands together. "You still don't have to apologize" he pressed his hands over each other tensely. "I was the one who treated you badly.""Yeah, but you didn't wish to be like that.""I'm sorry" he apologized quickly before giving me a hurried look. I went quiet, taking in his tousled hair and the soft strands falling over his face. I had to restrain the urge to br
[Tanya]There were some people who made you feel comfortable and protected. They'd treat you nice but at the same time, you feel like they'd get your kidney and sell it at a cheap price if given the chance. That was how I felt with John Smith. His son, Kieran Smith, had made me cry many times, and yet I didn't feel that way with him. "What are you thinking about?" John suddenly asked."How I've not trusted you all this whole time." I blurted out. "I know" he simply said.Wait, he knew?"How long have you known?" I asked. "Since the day I met you" he replied. "Do you trust me?""Tanya, let's go straight to the topic now, shall we?"Okay, I guess that's a no. "We both know you're here to talk about Kieran."I went mute for one second....two seconds....three...."Yes" I couldn't deny it. "I did some deep thinking and realized that for me to understand what to do about this whole situation, I need to speak with you."John didn't say a word. He bowed his head slightly and I was abou
[Third–Person]Lyra observed how Tanya ate some chips rigidly, sighed, drank some water and sighed again. She had done that four times already, Lyra was counting. "Okay" Lyra mumbled, pushing the snacks and drinks away from Tanya. "You need to stop"Tanya raised her head. "What?" It was Lyra's turn to sigh. She sat on the kitchen stool next to her. "You've been like this for hours"Tanya rested her elbow on the kitchen countertop, her eyes drowsy but not from sleepiness. Lyra could see that clearly. "I want to stop working for Kieran" Tanya muttered. "But you can't just do that" Lyra said sharply. "Exactly, I can't" Tanya agreed. "Because I had a deal with him.""Oh" Lyra's brows slightly shot up."Kieran doesn't joke with deals." Tanya said, her voice a little shaky. "I can't be the one breaking a deal like that. He won't take it gently with me""So?...." Lyra pressed to get more of Tanya's thoughts. "If I can keep to the end of the bargain, I'll be free, but at the same time,
[Kieran]We were all now in the living room, all standing with the tension high as fuck. "I kissed Tanya." I said with a calm voice and a composed expression, but internally, I wasn't relaxed. Everything was in disorder. "Well, we saw that" My dad said, gesturing a hand to Tanya and me. His expression was quiet, furious and confused at the same time. "I thought you guys hated each other."I rubbed the back of my neck. "It's complicated.""Obviously." Clara remarked for the first time, eyeing her daughter who stared at everyone but Clara. "So you're doing this again." Sheila accused, facing me angrily. My dad ran his glance from Sheila to me. "What is she talking about?" He pointed to her side. My muscles went rigid. "Nothing" I rumbled. "Well it's not nothing!" Sheila snapped. "I'm talking about how it's her again!" She pointed angrily at Tanya. "Don't do that" I warned tightly. "Of course! It's Tanya fucking George again!" She snapped. "Shut the fuck up, Sheila!" I growled.
[Kieran]I had my hands in my pockets, my face turned to the side, watching how Tanya explained and described things wildly with her small hands, her expression taking different forms every second. "You know that waiter was just like Freddie?" She said with a small frown. "Fredrick Lance? From high school?" I asked and she nodded. "Man, that guy's weird."She laughed, heading towards the staircase. "Why're you laughing?" I asked, staring at her bright face. She is really beautiful."You call someone weird when you share part of his weirdness." She replied.I paused, furrowing my brows slightly. "But I am not weird like Freddie, am I?""Well...." She smirked, her eyes twinkling with wickedness. I smirked back at her. "Don't go evil on me now"She laughed, flipping her long hair and that little action had me pausing again to gaze at her longer than usual. "You might think you're not weird, but what if you are?" she had her pink tongue playfully pushing out her inner cheek, her stu
