“Where is Lorraine?” Clarissa asked the moment she spotted one of her maids.

Her footsteps were hurried, her heels slamming against the tiled floor as she entered the living room.

The maid bowed slightly. “He’s sleeping upstairs, ma’am. Welcome home.”

Clarissa hummed as she brushed past the maid, climbing the stairs as she headed to the second floor where Lorraine’s bedroom was located.

She lived in a separate house from her dad and brothers. It was a nice portable apartment.

She wordlessly opened the bedroom door, but Lorraine wasn’t sleeping, he was sitting on his bed, staring back at her with his large brown eyes.

“Mommy, you’re back.” He called out.

Clarissa blinked back her tears as she stretched out a smile. “Yeah.” Her voice came out strained.

She stepped into the room fully, her shoulders tensed as she made her way to the bed.

She wiped her palm on her pants as she asked. “The maids said you were sleeping, why are you awake?” She tried to keep her voice even.
