Lessie's POV

“Are you even listening to me? I’m telling you to leave the club right now and go home. And make sure you eat properly,” I said, raising my voice slightly to emphasize the seriousness of my words.

Freddie didn’t respond, not to my earlier words or this latest demand. The silence was frustrating.

“Freddie, are you there? Don’t just sit there acting dumb!” I snapped, my patience slipping as I raised my voice even more.

I could hear his faint breathing on the other end, so I knew he was still there, listening. He just wasn’t saying a word—or maybe he didn’t want to.

“Fine. Since you don’t want to say anything, I’ll just hang up now,” I said sharply, my thumb hovering over the end-call button.

But just as I was about to hang up, his voice came through, hoarse, low, and unexpectedly electrifying.

“What?”

The sound of that one word sent an odd jolt through me. I froze.

“Goodness, Lessie, get a grip!” I mentally scolded myself, smacking my forehead. “Don’t tell me you’re losing

  • Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 116

Freddie’s POV While they were still talking in the corner, I suddenly heard Jasmine’s loud, upset voice.“Ugh, why didn’t you say something earlier? You knew we were supposed to be home, and now you're just reminding me?” she said angrily.“You looked like you were having fun, so I didn’t want to interrupt,” James replied.“But still…” Jasmine cried, clearly frustrated.I stood there, confused, not sure what was going on.I finally asked, “What’s going on?”Jasmine pouted and answered, “We’ve been here since morning, and now we’re late getting home. Mom is probably back already and must be worried.”I thought for a second, then said, “Don’t worry. I’ll have Zenith take you home and explain everything to your mom for you.”It seemed like a good idea. If Zenith talked to their mom, maybe she wouldn’t be upset. I smiled, expecting Jasmine to thank me or at least feel better. But after a moment, I looked up and saw she was frowning even more.“No, it’s fine. I don’t like that idea,” she

  • Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 115

Freddies POV Seeing me get upset, she apologized, before walking into the house fully, my eyes landed on what was in her hands. “You've bought the snacks.” My eyes fell on the three full white nylons.“Yes sir.” She dropped everything on the table before finally walking away.I waited for fifty minutes more, when I saw the door open this time. Fortunately, it wasn't any nonsense person this time around, but the children.I wanted to rush over to meet them, but I restrained myself with a lot of gritting teeth. It was the sweet Jasmine voice I heard first. She'd not notice me and was talking to Freddie.“Wow, you really mean this is his house?” She gushed, as she stared around. “It's so beautiful and every item here is screaming expensive.” She continued to wow.I turned speechless at her continuous gasp. I would have called such a behaviour from someone else as nothing but shameless, but as it got to do with Jasmine, all I felt was joy. She loves the house? She really does!I even wa

Freddies POV I could have gotten more workers to do the jobs in the house, but I chose not to even after Zenith suggested. I wanted the presence in this house to be small and peaceful for me.Besides, It was also because of peace I left the other house.Just when I'd finished my food, and was resting in the backyard garden, I saw my phone ring.It was from Lessie. Actually Jasmine. I have now gotten used to Jasmine calling, and no longer expectant that it might be really Lessie calling me.A bright smile came on my face, as I picked it.“How are you, jam jam?” I mused out,It must be surprising, hearing the name I called her. Actually, it was Jasmine's idea. She wanted to give her a nickname that only I would be calling and so I did and came up with this weird nickname. Her whispering voice followed. “How are you,” she greeted.I frowned slightly, understanding what was happening, but I still asked to be sure. “Are you hiding to take this call?”She nodded and that confirmed my own

  • Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 113

Freddie's POV Just then, I heard footsteps, I quickly glanced over with anxiousness. And when I saw the fragile looking girl in the arms of the maid my mind seemed to freeze. She looked really fragile even from afar and I began to wonder what she would look like up close. Just when I saw her fully, I sucked into thin air.So fragile! More fragile than I ever imagined. I remembered seeing her at the hospital, and from my memory, I don't see her all thin to this extent. Her eyes were so big, and they looked back at mine with curiosity.I pursed my lips. Was it because she hadn't seen me? That's why she was staring at me.Ignoring everything, I continued to stare at her pretty face. For a young fragile girl that's battling with a sickness I'm not aware of, she's indeed beautiful. So beautiful and delicate.I pursed my lips but I didn't forget why I was here. If I didn't have my own fear and thoughts, I would have rushed over to hug her and share her pain.“Who are you?” Suddenly the gi

  • Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 112

Freddie's POV Right now, I wasn’t in the right mood. Trying to understand someone else's feelings just wasn’t something I could deal with.So even though I saw that the maid looked scared, I didn’t care. I just urged her again, “Go and tell her to come downstairs now.”I was losing my patience. Honestly, part of me wanted to run upstairs and drag Judie down myself. But I held back. What if she tried to twist things and lie about it? After what she did last week, I couldn’t trust her anymore. She’d done something I never expected, getting pregnant without telling me and suddenly showing up, claiming the child was mine. That was low. And now, I wouldn’t put it past her to set me up again if I barged into her room.Just as I was pushing the maid for answers, Judie finally came down the stairs. My face darkened the moment I saw her. “What were you doing in that video?” I asked sharply. She pretended not to understand. “What video?” she said innocently, but the smirk on her face said othe

  • Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 111

Freddie’s POV “I called Zenith to ask about you,” Collins said, “and he told me you’ve been really busy. He also complained that you’ve been dragging him along and not letting him rest. That’s when I figured you probably forgot about the party.”I nodded. If Zenith said that, then it was likely true. I’d been busy lately, no lies.“Don’t mind that guy,” I replied. “He just doesn’t like working overnight.”Collins laughed. “Who enjoys working until they’re completely exhausted? I think it’s only you.”“Whatever,” I said, getting ready to hang up.“Wait, before you go. Has Dave reached out to you since that day?” Collins asked suddenly.I paused, then shook my head even though he couldn’t see me. “No, I haven’t gotten any calls from him. Why? Did he say he would call?”“Not exactly,” Collins replied. “But every time I run into him, he asks about you.”“Huh, well I haven’t gotten anything from him. If he called, I would’ve seen it.” I shrugged.“Alright, just checking. Someone’s here to
