Lessies POV

Before I could say another word, Jasmine had already leaped onto me.

"Yay! Mommy, are you serious?" she squealed, bouncing with excitement. I knew just how much she loved outings.

"Yes, I am," I chuckled softly.

"Alright, alright, let’s go already!" She dusted off any stray hair from her clothes before standing straight. Her excitement was unmatched, and I would do anything to keep seeing that joy on their faces.

Even James seemed pleased. He didn’t show it outright, but I could tell from his demeanor.

"No, first, we need to pack our luggage so that when we return, all we’ll have to do is take them out," I said firmly.

"Okay!" Jasmine spun around and immediately got to work.

Nanny Adele followed suit, checking for any clothes or items that still needed to be packed. It wouldn’t be ideal to leave the city only to realize we’d forgotten something important at the hotel.

James looked around for anything that needed packing, but when he found nothing, he decided to help by ha

Freddie's POVHe turned to Lessie. “Miss Lessie, please have a seat.”Then he dashed out like something was chasing him.Once the door closed, I kept pretending to work, ignoring the fact that she was now seated in front of me.I glanced at her out of the corner of my eye. She sat quietly, saying nothing. What was she doing? Why wasn’t she talking?Since she seemed in no rush, I focused back on my files. Surprisingly, in the time she’d been sitting there, I managed to finish four files.I didn’t know if it was because she was here, but something felt different. She’d been messing with my head for a while now, and I couldn’t even focus at work because all I kept thinking about was how she hurt me.Just when I thought I’d finally gotten into a rhythm and could finish some of the files, I heard Lessie’s voice.Normally, I shomuld be glad to hear her speak. But no, I wasn’t. Her tone was sharp and annoyed.“Aren’t you going to say something?” she asked.I looked up, confused. “What do you

Freddie's POVAt the office~“Boss, you haven’t even started on these yet?” Zenith’s voice trembled. He was holding a stack of documents, staring at the desk already piled with files.I didn’t respond. I stood silently by the large window, staring out at the buildings far below. On the outside, I looked calm, but inside, my emotions were raging.“Why? Why? Why?” I whispered under my breath.I’d been repeating that word nonstop. I was sure Zenith was silently cursing me by now, frustrated that I wouldn’t stop.“Boss, please… this has to stop,” Zenith said, his voice filled with concern.I finally turned away from the window, but I didn’t look at him. My eyes went straight to the desk covered with paperwork. Then, without warning, I swiped everything off the desk, sending the files crashing to the floor.“Why do you keep making me lose my mind, Lessie? LESSIE, WHY?!” I shouted, breathless, eyes burning red with anger.“You ignore my pleas… you reject everything I offer… and it’s driving

Lessie's POV I was just as surprised. James usually stayed quiet and distant around people he wasn’t close to, especially Ella. None of us saw that coming.“Mm.” James nodded shyly, then looked away.“Hehe,” Ella giggled, “James, do you care about me?”James didn’t reply this time. He quietly went back to his seat and ignored everyone’s stares.“Come on, James, answer me,” Ella said, not giving up. She wasn’t upset about being ignored; instead, she kept trying.I knew James wasn’t going to respond, but I didn’t stop her either. I didn’t want to ruin her mood.Just a little while ago, she had been crying. Now she was smiling—thanks to James. As expected, James stayed silent, but Ella still didn’t quit. She walked to his seat and kept asking over and over again.I looked at them briefly before turning my attention back to my food. Jasmine and Nanny Adele also returned to their meals.Luckily, by the time I finished eating, Ella had stopped bugging James. She was finally breathing calml

Lessie's POV Jasmine sneered at James before returning to her seat, and he quietly went back to watching TV. I smiled to myself at how dramatic they both were. While they were focused on the screen, I turned to Nanny Adele. “We’ll be sleeping here tonight.”“Oh, okay,” she nodded, then greeted Ella. “Hello, Miss Ella.”“Hi, Nanny Adele,” Ella replied warmly.“This is the first time I’m seeing you,” she added. “You look really gentle.”To my surprise, I noticed Nanny Adele blushing. Was I seeing things? I blinked, but nope—she really was blushing.“You look so pretty too, just like ma’am,” Nanny Adele said.I knew she was being honest because Ella truly is beautiful.“Aww, thank you,” Ella said. She didn’t blush, though. Clearly, she was used to compliments like that.“Feel at home, okay? This is also Lessie’s house,” Ella added. “She told you, right?” Her voice carried a bit of excitement.“Yes, I know. You and ma’am are like sisters,” Nanny Adele replied.Ella blushed this time. “I

Lessie's POV “Why not?” Jasmine asked with a sniff.“Because we can all look for him together. I may not know where he is, but we can search for him,” Ella said, smiling at the idea.Jasmine and James looked at each other, silently passing a message.“How will we find him?” James asked curiously.“Hmm… we’ll have to figure that out,” Ella replied with a shrug. Then James said something that caught Ella completely off guard.“Our dad came yesterday.”“What?” Ella looked shocked again.I sighed. Poor Ella, she was really getting hit with a lot today. First, finding out the kids knew they had a father, and now this? That their dad had already visited? It was a lot to take in.“Aunt Ella, are you okay?” Jasmine asked, looking concerned.Ella took a deep breath and nodded. “I’m fine. But what do you mean he came yesterday?”“At Uncle Ben’s place, where we stayed last night,” Jasmine explained. “When someone knocked, our nanny rushed us into the bathroom, so we didn’t see anything. But we

Lessie's POV Even James and Jasmine looked at me, their eyes full of concern.I laughed, knowing what they were thinking. “Relax, I’m fine. I’m not sick. I just want to be alone for a while.”“You two can stay here and chat with Aunt Ella,” I added.Still, I could tell they didn’t believe me. They looked worried.“Oh, alright. Go ahead. The bed’s already made,” Ella said, and I stood up and headed to her room. The moment I stepped in, the soft scent in the air calmed me. I walked to the neatly arranged bed and lay down, but I didn’t close my eyes.I hadn’t come here to sleep, just to be alone. I’d tried to clear my head last night and again this morning, and it helped. But right now, I just needed my own space.“What am I going to do now?” I whispered.Everything felt like a mess.No matter how hard I try to forget the past, it keeps following me.The kids know they have a father. They even know he visited yesterday.I’m scared they’ll meet him soon. And I don’t know if I’m ready.“S

Lessie's POV James nodded while Jasmine waved her tiny hand and blew kisses back, copying Nanny Adele adorably.“Bye, Nanny Adele,” Jasmine said in her sweet little voice.Nanny Adele gave one last warm smile before finally leaving. Jasmine’s charm was just too much, and I could tell Nanny Adele felt a little sad to go after that adorable goodbye. She probably only left because she remembered she had to get to the hospital.I watched her go, then turned to the kids, missing the mischievous smiles on their faces. My eyes were on the tray Jasmine was holding.“You should put that on the table first,” I said, standing up and gently taking it from her. She could only carry one tray, so I went to the kitchen to get the rest of the food. After setting the table, we all ate in silence. When we were done, I didn’t need to say a word. As soon as I stood up, the kids did too. They had heard me tell Nanny Adele that we weren’t staying here but going to Ella’s place.Jasmine was the happiest of

Lessie's POV I kept chasing James without stopping.“Hey, stop running!”“You really don’t want to stop, huh? Just hope I don’t catch you!” I kept shouting as James kept slipping out of my reach. As I ran, I started to lose my breath. Every time I thought I was close to catching him, he’d dodge me like a sneaky little rat.“Alright, that’s enough,” I said, finally stopping to catch my breath. “You didn’t even let me catch you.”Just as I was getting a bit of rest, I started chasing him again. James saw me coming and took off running. Yeah, I cheated a little by starting early, but even then, I still couldn’t catch him. After a few more laps, I was completely out of breath and had to stop again. That’s when I realized something, James might be small, but that boy’s legs are fast!“Mommy’s tired,” I said, resting my hands on my knees and breathing hard.Anyone who saw me like this would probably feel sorry for me. No kidding.James stopped when he heard my voice. He looked at me with a
