Rachel’s POV.

I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding as I watched Darius walk out of the kitchen, his words still echoing in my mind. "You belong to me."

I gulped, a lump clutching in my throat that suddenly went dry. There was something in his tone that made me feel scared and giddy at the same time.

I couldn't explain it, but it was like my body was responding to him in a way that I couldn't control.

In a way, it shouldn’t, be a dangerous way.

Damn it!

I wet my bottom lip as I stood there, the effect of the moment still dawning on me, my cheeks heating up as I relive the moment in my head.

I didn’t like how Darius was making me feel and how dominating he was in every situation; it didn’t sit well with me, yet I didn’t have a choice or say, not after I agreed to this, which I am now regretting.

This was supposed to be a pretense, which it still is, but right now I feel there is more to this, and there was no doubt that Darius was attracted to me.

Or could I be overthin

  • Ex Husband’s Regret: He Wants Me Back   46.

Rachel’s POV It had been a week. A whole week since I met Andrew in the park. A whole week since Darius stopped looking at me or talking to me. He wasn’t yelling. He wasn’t even ignoring me not really. He still spoke when necessary. Still came home every night. Still sat at the dinner table with me and Aria. But it wasn’t the same. His eyes didn’t warm up when he saw me anymore. His touches were gone no more brushing my hand when he passed by, no more pulling me close when we slept. It was killing me. And Andrew wasn’t helping. His messages kept coming "Rachel, we need to talk” "Please, just hear me out” “Don’t do this to me." I blocked him. Then he called from a different number. I blocked that too. But the damage was done. The cold shoulder was killing me and I didn’t like it. He doesn’t even give me room to speak to him. I missed him. I made a mistake one which I regret but I didn’t deserve the silent treatment at least not anymore. I was in the g

  • Ex Husband’s Regret: He Wants Me Back   45. Gone Wrong

Rachel’s POV My head throbbed as I slowly opened my eyes. The bright light made me wince. Where was I? A hospital. I was in a hospital bed, an IV in my arm. The beeping of machines filled the silence. Then I saw him. Darius sat in a chair beside my bed, his head in his hands. His knuckles were bruised and bandaged. His shoulders were slumped, like the weight of the world was on them. He looked up when he heard me stir. His eyes were red-rimmed, exhausted. "Rachel," he whispered, his voice rough. I opened my mouth to speak, but tears came instead. If I had known Andrew planned this if I had known he wanted Darius to see us like that I would’ve never come. Darius pulled me to his chest as I cried, he rubbed my back slowly and mumbled soothing words to my hearing.“I’m sorry” I mumbled in between sobs.He pulled back cupping my cheeks and wiping off my tears. “We’ll talk about this when you get better, now is not the time” I didn’t even realize I was crying again unt

Rachel’s POVI walked into the park, my hands shoved deep in my coat pockets. The air was cold, but I barely felt it. My mind was too busy running through all the reasons why I shouldn’t be here. But I was.And if Darius was to find out about this he wouldn’t take it likely with Andrew or me. Part of me knew that Andrew has nothing important to say or defend himself yet the curiousiry in me got the better. And there he was. Andrew sat on a bench, looking all perfect like he always did.His stupid expensive suit, his perfectly styled hair like he had just stepped out of a magazine. The moment he saw me, he stood up fast, a fake smile spreading across his face. "Rachel," he said, stepping forward like he was about to hug me. I took a quick step back. "Don’t." His smile faltered, but he recovered fast. "Right. Sorry. I just, thank you for coming." I didn’t sit down. I didn’t move closer. I just stared at him. "Cut the chase, Andrew. Why did you call me here?" He sighe

Rachel’s POVThe drive home was very quiet, the city lights blurring past my window as my mind wandered. It’s been a very been long, exhausting, and all I wanted was to sink into a hot bath and rest my sore muscles. I was completely worn out,Then my phone rang. I glanced at the screen Darius. A small smile tugged at my lips despite the heaviness in my chest.I answered. "Hey," I said, trying to keep my voice light. "Princess," his deep voice came through, steady as always. “I won’t be home early tonight. Work’s keeping me. I’m sorry."I swallowed the disappointment. It wasn’t his fault. He had responsibilities, just like I did. But still… I missed him. "It’s okay," I lied. "I understand." "I love you," he said, and my heart squeezed. "I love you too," I whispered before hanging up. The rest of the drive was quiet. Too quiet. When I finally stepped inside, the emptiness of the house wrapped around me like a cold blanket. I kicked off my heels, dropped my bag o

Rachel’s POVI walked into Beaumont Enterprises with Diana on my left and Jasmine on my right. The huge glass doors slid open, and everyone in the lobby stopped to stare.I could hear whispers “That’s her. That’s Rachel Beaumont the only daughter to Mr and Mrs Beaumont and now the new CEO”I ignored them. Diana stayed close, her sharp eyes scanning every corner. She had always been so cautious, and she took her job way too seriously. But I didn’t mind. She was only looking out for me.Jasmine, on the other hand, was all smiles. She still couldn’t belive the news when it broke she’s been trying to get me to tell her the whole truth. I employed her as my assistant and double the fee Andrew paid her so she didn’t think twice to quote her job with his company, she was the only one who had been kind to me when I was pretending to be just a regular employee. The elevator ride up to my office was quiet. Too quiet. "So," I said, breaking the silence. "What’s my schedule looking lik

Rachel’s POV I groaned as I slowly opened my eyes, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. My body ached in places I didn’t even know could ache. I stretched slightly, wincing at the soreness between my thighs. The thought of what had happened last night came rushing back to me like a wave of nostalgia. Darius, the way his hands had explored every inch of my body, the way his lips had trailed fire down my skin. My face burned as I remembered the things we’d done, the things he’d whispered in my ear. I bit on my lower lip remembering the feeling of him inside of me. Fuck! I turned my head to the side and saw my dress crumpled on the floor, along with Darius’s shirt and pants. The sheets beside me were empty, but still warm. He hadn’t been gone long. Where is he? I sat up, pulling the sheets around me, my heart pounding just thinking about him. My phone buzzed loudly on the nightstand, pulling me out of my thoughts. I reached for it, frowning at the f
