The next day, as Simon and William walked into the head office, they met Gideon in the lobby. A broad smile was on his face, making the hair on Simon’s back stand in suspicion.

“I was about to go see you,” Gideon said, smiling at Simon.

Simon looked around trying to be sure the smile was directed at someone else and not him.

Nat and Clayton stood in Anna’s room, staring out across the expanse of the backyard to watch them.“Is it really necessary for us to watch them like this?” Clayton asked.“Yes, what if Anna starts throwing some punches his way?” Nat asked him right back.“Anna won’t do that,” Clayton responded.Nat looked at him with her brow raised, her eyes narrowed at him in concentration. After a few seconds, Clayton said, “Okay, okay, maybe she can; as long as it involves her kids, there is nothing she won’t do, I know.”“Well, she won’t allow us to go with her, but we can watch from here.” Nat replied.“Well, no, not if they decide to go into the house.” Clayton pointed out."Then we are screwed," Nat stated.“Anna specifically told us to head to the office; we have some financials to go sort out, Nat. Let's quit this detective act and be on our way.” Clayton replied, turning away from the window.“I need to be sure, or I won’t stop thinking about what’s going on over there.” Nat stated.Clayto

Simon woke up from the bed, his eyes bloodshot and drowsy, his hair tousled in every direction. The event of the last few days was taking a toll on him. Those of the coming days were the ones that had him deprived of sleep.“F*ck” he mumbled as he stared at the roof. The night had been filled with turns and hisses, his thoughts consumed by what Anna’s decision would be.“When exactly is she going to…” He muttered, trailing off just as his phone vibrated. He saw the drop-down of two incoming texts at the same time, and she bolted up from the bed.The first was from Hillary, while the other was from Anna. Ignoring the one from Hillary, he opened the one from Anna.-Pick a place; let's meet by 10am.-Simon blinked as he stared at the text, unable to believe she had agreed to meet with him.He typed an address in response to her, his lips curling up in a smile. Well, it looked like all hope isn’t lost after all.He dropped the phone, falling back to the bed in excitement, completely forge

At the Fisher house, Anna stayed in her room alone for the next two hours. Totally absorbed in her thoughts."Anna? Can I come in?" Nat knocked on her door later. There was no response, making her sigh, and as she turned to walk away, she heard the doorknob turn."Ahh, finally, I was going to tear down the door after I try again." Nat stated.Anna shrugged, turned, and walked back into the room, lying down on the bed and staring at the ceiling."Don't you want to talk to the kids?" Nat asked."Not now," Anna stated."When exactly would that be? It's been hours, and they are anxious." Nat replied."I will when I leave my room. I just need to take everything in right now." Anna mumbled.Nat sighed, lay on the bed next to her, and closed her eyes, the silence enveloping them.Anna closed her eyes as she remembered the conversation Alex had with her just a day before."What did you find out?" Anna has asked."Anna, he was admitted to a hospital that night; his alibi is confirmed." Alex ha

Simon was furious all the way back to the hotel, his jaw hardened for most of the ride."Do you want to talk about it?" Steve asked."Hmm," Simon grunted as they drove into the hotel."That does not sound like an answer." Steve insisted"F*ck! How could I have been so blind to their heartless nature?" Simon asked himself, raking a hand through his hair in frustration."You didn't know," Steve muttered. They sat there in silence for a couple of minutes, the car ignition off as they both stared out the car window."I was blinded by my needs. I just wanted someone to use, and I didn't bother about how that would affect them." Simon said into the silence."Well, now you know, and you've changed. You're no longer the mindless j*rk you were then." Steve replied. An awkward silence followed as they both thought about their words. The reality of all that had happened in the past few hours weighed on Simon."I don't know, Steve; I feel like karma has finally caught up to me." Simon responded.

Simon grunted. They fell silent again, with Simon staring out the window and constantly muttering to himself. When Steve pulled into the street and parked in front of the building, he looked over at Simon."Is this where I think it is?" In the house, Nat headed out of the children's room only to see Loveth coming up with Clayton and Steve."Where are you going? Did you find another one?" Nat asked, raising her brow in displeasure."No, we are giving them some space." Loveth responded."Oh," Nat murmured, as the meaning behind Loveth's words became clear."Looks like they are not in the living room; I can't hear their voices." Clayton stated."Still, we should wait here till one of them calls on us or walks up here." Nat replied."I agree." Steve mumbled, still in shock."I'm sure you can all let this go, seeing as it's just the children's prank." Loveth said, turning to face Steve."I can't really say, ma'am; the damage done was actually real. I don't know how they were able to pull it off, but it was a real panic on our end."
