Archie nodded. "I am thirsty. I want water," he said.
"Okay. Mummy will get you some," she replied, turning to the counter to pick up a cup. She filled it with water from the tap and walked toward her son.
She handed the cup to him. He took it and drank it all, then handed back the cup.
"Thank you, Mum," he said.
"You are welcome, baby." She placed the cup back.
"Let's get you back to bed," she said as she led him back to the room. He climbed onto the bed, and she joined him.
He stirred on the bed and placed his hand on her neck. She placed her hand on his body and kissed his temples.
"Good night, sweetie," she said.
"Goodnight, Mum," he replied.
She moved her hand to Ayla and caressed her hair.
"Do it for your kids, Giselle," Blaire's words echoed in her mind.
She heaved a sigh.
---
"Where are we going to, Mum?" Ayla asked as Giselle helped her with her pink dress.
"Yes, Mum, why aren't we wearing our uniforms?" Archie asked, already dressed in his blue t-shirt and black shorts.
"That's because you both are going to Aunt Blaire's house," she explained.
"Yay!!!" They squealed in unison.
The door opened, revealing Blaire.
"Speak of the devil," Giselle thought.
"Aunt Blaire!" the kids squealed happily and ran toward her.
"Aw, my little treasures. How are you both doing this morning?" Blaire asked as Giselle got to her feet and walked toward the kids' bags.
She had packed them last night.
"We are good," Archie said.
"Mum said we are going to your place," Ayla added.
"Yes, are you excited?" Blaire asked.
"Yes!" they answered together.
Blaire chuckled. "Well, you both and your mum will be staying with us from now on," she said.
"Yay!!!!" They squealed and jumped happily.
Giselle walked toward them with their bags in her hands.
"Okay, okay, go and put on your shoes," she said as she dropped their bags on the ground. They ran to get their shoes.
She looked at Blaire.
"I am proud of you," Blaire said.
"Yeah, right," Giselle muttered, walking toward the mirror to check her outfit. She wore a black knee-length skirt and a peach-colored silk shirt. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, and she had just a little lip gloss on. She matched her skirt with her old black shoes.
"You look great," Blaire complimented.
Giselle heaved a sigh.
"You know what, just go. I will do every other thing," Blaire insisted.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Trust me. You can't afford to be late," she replied.
"Blaire," Giselle called, tilting her head in frustration.
"I insist. Go," Blaire urged.
Giselle nodded. "Kids, I will meet you at Blaire's place, okay?"
"Where are you going to, Mum?" Ayla asked.
"I got a new job," Giselle answered.
"What job?" Archie asked.
"A big job. Mummy has to go, say bye," Blaire said.
"Bye, Mum," they said in unison.
"Bye," Giselle said, picking up her purse and heading out.
She walked down the stairs, out of the building, and through the gate. She boarded a tricycle and they hit the road.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the company. She quickly paid the driver and hurried inside.
Standing a bit away from the door, she looked around. People were already there, moving around and minding their business.
She thought about Xavier's office, realizing she had forgotten where it was. *God, Giselle, what is wrong with you?*
"Move," a female voice said, pushing her out of the way.
Giselle whimpered, struggling to keep her balance. She glanced at the girl who had pushed her—a woman with long straight brunette hair, wearing a black and red designed short dress and black heels, followed by two other girls.
Furrowing her brows, she continued to stare at her.
"Arabella!" some people called as they approached her with a book and a pen, seemingly wanting an autograph. Others were taking pictures.
*Is she a celebrity or what?* Giselle wondered. *Why did she push me like that? That's rude.*
One of the girls following Arabella turned to Giselle and clasped her hands together, mouthing an apology.
Giselle sighed.
She took the direction she recalled to be the way to Xavier's office.
Upon reaching a familiar place, she saw Rob seated at the front desk. He looked at her.
She opened her mouth to speak, but he raised his finger at her, silencing her.
He gave her a fake smile, making her furrow her brows.
"Perfect timing. He is waiting for you," he said, gesturing to Xavier's office door.
Giselle nodded slightly as she walked toward the door.
She inhaled and exhaled before knocking.
"Enter," his voice sent shivers down her spine.
She opened the door and walked in.
He was in an ash-colored suit, seated at his desk and writing on a file.
She approached him.
"Good morning..."
"Why are you late?" he retorted without looking at her.
"I was... I..."
"I hate stammers, Ms. Harrison," he said, finally looking at her.
"I don't work with stammers," he added.
She nodded slightly and gulped. "I am sorry."
His eyes moved to her attire, and he relaxed in his seat, still staring at her clothing.
She clenched her purse nervously.
"What the hell are you wearing?" he asked.
She looked at her dress and then back at him.
He raised his brows.
"Clothes," she answered.
He scoffed. "You call that clothes?" he asked mockingly.
Her heart clenched.
"Your lover couldn't afford to buy you good clothes?" he asked.
"Xavier, please..."
"It's SIR to you, Ms. Harrison. Don't you dare call me by my name," he admonished, glaring at her.
Her heart tightened. She nodded regardless.
"I am sorry, sir," she said.
He nodded. "That's more like it."
"This is the best attire I have. And I don't have a lover. I never did," she said boldly, suppressing her tears.
He scoffed mockingly. "Really now? Women and lies. Pathetic."
Her heart tightened further.
*God, I don't recognize him anymore. He is being mean to me, and it hurts.*
"Take these files to Rob and wait for him to go through all of them," he ordered, pointing at a pile of files on his desk.
She walked closer and picked up the files.
"None is to drop on the floor or else you pay for it," he warned.
Ignoring the pain in her heart, she walked toward the door.
The door opened before she reached it, and a woman in the same attire as the one who had pushed her earlier entered with her entourage.
"Hey, baby," the woman said, smiling at Xavier as she walked toward him.
Giselle watched as Xavier stood up, smiling back as she approached him. The woman wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
Giselle's heart dropped.
Xavier wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her back.
Giselle stood there, watching them.
Xavier's eyes rested on her as he continued to kiss the woman.
The pain in Giselle's heart deepened, a feeling she had never experienced before.
Giselle sighed as she unlocked the door to Harley’s office. She walked in and turned on the lights. So much for partying. If it weren't for Damien, she wouldn't be there. She would be with her kids right now, not witnessing the drama between Xavier and Arabella. So annoying. She couldn't even drink. She was banned from taking anything beyond water and fruit juice.Drinks had literally destroyed her. She couldn't let that happen again. She walked toward the desk and picked up the only file on it, which had "Monday" written on it.Opening it, she discovered it was Walker’s shoot. Wow. Another shoot. She blushed, recalling her huge portrait on the wall of his company building. She couldn't believe her eyes. She looked very beautiful in the picture. She loved it.Damien was such a nice guy. He had paid for everything she was wearing. He had taken her to a nice restaurant and a spa where she got everything done.He was very nice.No doubt she liked him. What was there not to like? She turn
The night is beautiful and a bit windy. It is past eight pm and the city's lights are igniting the beautiful city. Lens Masterpiece company has two huge lights at top of the building that is pointing to the sky. The building is booming with music, and moving down, you would see a projector on the wall of the building, displaying most of Arabella’s personal pictures and some of her and Xavier together. A lot of exotic cars are piling up in front of building. There are a lot of press and photographers all over the place taking pictures of the arriving guests in their beautiful attires. There are flashes of lights from the cameras all over the area, giving the sense of a Met Gala event or Oscars. There is a red carpet on the ground, leading from the end spot of the company's compound to the inside of the company. There is also a long red ribbon on both sides of the carpet, separating the press and the photographers from the carpet pathway. Guests dressed in very beautiful and expen
Giselle furrowed her brows in confusion. Why is she here? How did she get here? She looked at the bed. Her kids were not with her. What was going on? She didn’t understand. She moved to get out of the bed, but the door opened, revealing Xavier. She froze. He was dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, holding a covered plate and a glass of juice in his hands. She furrowed her brows. He smiled at her the moment their eyes locked."Good morning, baby," he said, walking towards her."Baby?""Rise and shine," he said, placing the plate and glass on the nightstand. He leaned in front of her, smiling. She shifted a little, confused to say the least."What's wrong?" he asked, furrowing his brows."What is this, Xavier?""What do you mean?" he asked, pretending as always. She scoffed, standing on her feet and moving away from him."Baby, what is—""Baby?" she retorted, scoffing. He furrowed his brows."Did you kidnap me?""What?""Yes. That's what you did. You kidnapped me. Where are my
Giselle's heart raced more than it already did. Xavier was kissing her roughly and holding her tightly. What had gotten into him all of a sudden? She struggled to push him away from her. She moaned out of frustration, hitting his shoulders with her hands, but he kept on kissing her. He held the back of her head tightly. She felt pressure between her legs. She experienced a lot of emotions: adrenaline, goosebumps, pressure, and anger. He was too strong for her. She didn't like this. What was wrong with him?He moved them toward his desk, making her rest on it as he continued kissing her.She did what her instincts told her to do. She kicked his groin, making him let out a groan and release her. She attempted to run away, but he held her hand and drew her back.In an instant, she gave him a hard slap on the face, making him look away.Giselle was panting in anger. She wanted to hit him again and again. He deserved it. He was her worst nightmare. Her worst mistake!“You bastard! Don’t yo
“Big sis," Alex called.Giselle got on her feet and walked around her desk while still staring at Alex. He was amazed to see her.So was she.He looked different. Different from the little Alex she used to carry in her arms all those years ago. She hadn't seen him in a long time, even after she got married. He was very tall, muscular, and very handsome too.She got closer to him, and they hugged each other."I can't believe my eyes," he said, unwrapping her and looking at her from head to toe."You look different and more beautiful," he added. She chuckled. "Oh my God, Alex. You don't know how happy I am to see you.""Me too, big sis. I looked for you after our parents told me what happened. I couldn't reach you. Aria and I couldn't reach you. I still can't believe what they told me."She stared at him."That you are not my real sister," he added. Her heart clenched."Seriously, sis, I didn't know. Aria and I didn't know until they kicked you out," he said worriedly. She nodded. "It
Loads of regrets washed over her as he smirked at her.She felt terrible. She felt dirty. She felt shameful. She felt pissed beyond anything. She pushed him away, and he almost fell."You bastard!" she yelled, pushing him again."Don't you ever come near me again!" she almost cried, running out of the kitchen. She ran toward the restroom and entered one of the stalls. Sitting on the toilet seat, she covered her face with her hands. She cried silently, feeling very awful. That didn’t just happen to her.He was a devil. He was a bastard! She hated him!She hated him so much. What is wrong with you, Giselle? How could she let him come near you like that? How?!What is wrong with you?!She hugged herself, sniffling. She felt so pathetic. She couldn’t believe she let this happen. She felt very awful.Damn you, Xavier.Damn you!*******After some minutes in the bathroom, she headed back to the studio. She managed to compose herself before stepping out.She still felt awful, but she had to
