“She's suffering from lack of rest. Her body has just suffered a miscarriage and she hasn't been able to rest properly ever since,”
Those were the first things Nuella heard when she regained consciousness. She grunted and opened her eyes taking in her environment. Kevin was standing by the side with a doctor who seemed to be scolding him. She flushed as she realized he was taking the heat for her carelessness and sat up. “Oh you're awake,” the doctor came over to her side immediately and the conversation was cut short much to her relief. “How are you feeling now?” Nuella nodded her head, not quite ready to speak. The doctor checked her vitals and excused herself, promising to come check on her later in the day. Soon, they were left alone for the first time since the party. For the first few minutes after the doctor left, no one said anything. They just stared at each other without saying a word. “I'm sorry,” she said, breaking the silence as she finally found the words. “I should have handled myself better at the party.” Kevin shook his head as he joined her on the bed and she shifted so he could sit properly. “I am responsible for everything. You weren't prepared for any of that and I shouldn't have taken you to meet my family so soon without preparing you for it.” He had a point when he said he should have warned her. However she should have told him about Silas as well. It would be unfair of her to let him shoulder all the blame when she had played a huge part in what happened. “I should have told you about my past with Silas and the miscarriage. I just…” she started to explain when he had finished speaking but he cut her off. “You don't owe me anything. Our marriage is one only in name that stands to benefit us both. I should have protected you better.” She gulped and opened her mouth to say something, anything but he wasn't finished. “I don't care about your past and I especially do not care about your relationship with Silas. According to what I gathered, that chapter of your life is now closed.” She nodded but didn't interrupt him. “As far as your divorce is concerned, I'll get my lawyer to look at the papers to ensure there are no loopholes.” Nuella was stunned. He was still being generous even after finding out she had lied to him. Why? “All I want from you is your loyalty to me. I don't care about your past like I said as long as it doesn't affect this partnership between us.” She shook her head. “I'm sorry about Silas. He has probably ruined things with your family now.” He shook his head. “Silas has always been good for nothing and I'm not concerned with anything he has to say. Besides it's his loss for leaving you in the first place so it's quite alright. He'll regret it soon enough.” Her mouth fell open at his words. Why was he taking her side against his family? His own nephew? “Just promise me that you'll always be honest with me no matter what. I hate deception and lies, I can't stand it.” She nodded. “I promise.” He stood up and turned to leave but she caught her hand, stopping him. “I have one request to ask from you.” She said to him and he sat back down. “Anything. Just say it and it's done.” Nuella's heart rate picked up at his words and she struggled to piece the words she intended to say together. “Don't be afraid.” “I'm not,” she grumbled and he chuckled, making her blush. “Silas betrayed me in the worst way possible and I want him to pay dearly for it. He hurt me when he slept with my sister and watched her kick me out of my own room like a common servant.” He listened to her without interrupting and she felt emboldened by it. “I was bleeding out and our child was being snuffed out of me while he was busy having sex with my sister.” She paused to control her emotions before she continued speaking again. “While I was still mourning the loss of my child, his child, he threw divorce papers at me. I want him to feel the same pain I felt and I won't give him a chance to plead for mercy because my child never got a child to breathe in the same air as me.” Her eyes filled with tears but she held them back. “I want him to feel so much pain and regret. I want him to suffer and to cry the same way I did.” She stopped speaking and sniffed, brushing away the tears on her face with her hands. “Is that all?” She nodded and he grunted. “Consider it done.” He said then stood up. “Now get some rest. Nuella watched as he walked out of the room and couldn't help but feel amazed. What type of man is he and how could he be so supportive? Never before had she felt so safe and secure in a man's words the way she felt in that moment. She felt confident that he'd keep to his words and that his promises weren't just empty promises. How could she feel this safe with him when he was practically a stranger to her? With his help, she knew she would be able to make Silas pay. It was only a matter of time before Silas would be crawling and begging for her forgiveness. As she laid down to rest, she smiled feeling happy for the first time in days and all thanks to Kevin Lowes, her contract husband. *** Meanwhile in another part of town, Alicia Storm threw a jar at the wall. She had been unable to control her anger since the party. ”How could Kevin treat me like that”? “How could he humiliate me like that? Who does he think he is?” She yelled. “Calm down sis, you'll hurt yourself,” her brother urged but she ignored him as she hurled a vase at the wall. “He brought shame and disgrace to our family by bringing that nobody and introducing her as his wife! How dare he? I'll teach him a lesson he'll never forget.” “And I'll handle the woman. Relax, we'll get them. She's nothing compared to the Storms and she should never have messed with our family in the first place.” “I want to make her suffer and humiliate her the same way he humiliated me.” “Consider it done, now relax.”Nuella's POV“Oh my…” I said as I stretched from the bed.It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and it was one of my favorite days of the week because it was stress-free and also served as my resting day.But today was different. I woke up very early because yesterday I had prepared a lot of work ahead of the week, so I need to start working on it as soon as possible. And today was the perfect day to start.I woke up early and went straight into the bathroom; I brushed my teeth and had my bath. When I was done dressing up, I went downstairs for breakfast.“Good morning, Nuella,” I heard as I was adjusting my dress when I got to the dining room.I looked up, and it was Kevin; he was still dressed in his pajamas, and of course I wasn't shocked to see that because it was supposed to be a work-free day. He glanced at me like I was some sort of stranger who just walked into his mansion.“Good morning, Mr. Kevin,” I greeted him as I pulled a chair from the dining table and sat down.“Please ge
Kevin’s POVI was on my way to the office when I heard my phone ring, so as I walked down to my car, I decided to pick it up.“Hello, good morning, Mr. Kevin.” I heard greetings from a man's voice. “Good morning,” I replied to him.“This is Mr. Journal from Angels Gold Limited.” He said to me, “Oh okay, how is your day going, Mr. Journal?” I asked him.“Oh, it's going fine, thank you, Mr. Kevin.”“You are welcome, sir. I'm calling you in regard to your order. Mr. Kevin I heard you came to our store yesterday to request a certain golden ring.” Mr. Journal said to me.“Oh yeah, I just wanted to make some inquiries; I hope you would be of great help to me. I spoke with the general manager of the gold store. Our conversation went well. I was looking for a perfect store where I could get expensive and well-crafted gold for Nuella. I noticed that the one she had on currently wasn't speaking volumes like I wanted. So, I decided to get her a new one. I wanted to get her one, which is expensiv
Nuella's POVSeeing the both of them look miserable at that spot was relieving to me. This was only the beginning of their torment and living in hell. They should both get ready because I would never spare them!!!They were finally kicked out, and the crowd began to murmur. I saw some of them pointing their hands towards me while some were talking with their eyes. There was too much murmuring and gossiping happening at the same time, but I could only care less about what they were saying at the moment.“Thank you.” I appreciated Kevin for helping me out even though I was still a little upset with him for not showing up earlier and fighting for me.“You are welcome.” He replied to me in a calm tone as we walked towards the VIP area. We sat down in one of the reserved spots. There were a few minutes of silence from the both of us. He asked the waiter to serve us a glass of red wine. “Are you okay?” He asked me calmly.“Yes, I am.” I replied to him, shyly. “Okay, that's good to hear. I j
Nuella’s POVHis words came as a surprise to me. A slut? Silas of all people knows how decent I am. I looked around and noticed that people were talking and gossiping already. I knew this was time for me to defend myself because if I don't do so now, that name and title of being a s*** and a murderer will keep flying around.“Hahaha,” I laughed. “So this was your plan all along, to act like a victim and ruin my name. Calling me a murderer and a s***, you? Silas, have you forgotten so soon that you were the first man in my life? And those that know me too well know that I don't flirt around like you. Who are you calling a s***? Or are you calling yourself out?” I questioned him.The attention on us kept on increasing. “You are just a weak and loose woman trying to get vindicated by your fellow whore.” Silas said to me.I was angry, and this was not a good time to back down from a fight. “You liar, you think I wouldn't know that you were not just cheating on me with my stepsister but al
Nuella's POVNatasha was pushing me to the wall. I was controlling myself from doing something that will hurt her so bad because of her dad. This is not what he would have wanted from us. I stood up with poise, glared into her eyes with so much confidence, and told her, “Natasha Jones, hand me back my phone immediately.” The tone of voice was authoritative, and I could see the fear in her eyes. There were a few seconds of silence in the hall. Those that were observing us from when she came to me paused to hear what I wanted to say. Natasha was a little shaky, but she didn't want it to be too obvious.“What?” She asked me, surprisingly.“Did you just talk to me like that? Have you forgotten your place and whom you are talking to?” She kept on adding more questions to the ones she asked before now.“Of course I know who I'm talking to, or do you have a twin who talks, looks, and acts exactly like you?” I questioned her back, angrily. Natasha Jones, one of James Jones’s daughters, my ste
Writer's povAs I waited for Kevin to pack well before I came down from the car. I kept adjusting and setting my outfit even when I knew it was perfectly okay. I did that because I was a little tense, so it just happened to me unexpectedly.I kept staring around, looking at people who were also just arriving at the venue. The opening was for kings and queens to attend. Every wife or kid was either a senator's wife or child, or they were business mogul family members like FG.FG was known to be a well-known and popular business mogul who had his company branches across all continents. I wasn't expecting anything less from him when I saw different cars being packed and different calibers of people coming in. Sometimes I feel so insecure.“ Hope I matched up to the event, I kept on asking myself. It was more like I was missing something, but when I remembered I have Kevin by my side, I cheered up. It has been long since I was in a gathering like this. I was not opportuned to attend any kn
