“She's suffering from lack of rest. Her body has just suffered a miscarriage and she hasn't been able to rest properly ever since,”

Those were the first things Nuella heard when she regained consciousness.

She grunted and opened her eyes taking in her environment.

Kevin was standing by the side with a doctor who seemed to be scolding him. She flushed as she realized he was taking the heat for her carelessness and sat up.

“Oh you're awake,” the doctor came over to her side immediately and the conversation was cut short much to her relief. “How are you feeling now?”

Nuella nodded her head, not quite ready to speak.

The doctor checked her vitals and excused herself, promising to come check on her later in the day.

Soon, they were left alone for the first time since the party.

For the first few minutes after the doctor left, no one said anything. They just stared at each other without saying a word.

“I'm sorry,” she said, breaking the silence as she finally found the words. “I should have handled myself better at the party.”

Kevin shook his head as he joined her on the bed and she shifted so he could sit properly. “I am responsible for everything. You weren't prepared for any of that and I shouldn't have taken you to meet my family so soon without preparing you for it.”

He had a point when he said he should have warned her. However she should have told him about Silas as well.

It would be unfair of her to let him shoulder all the blame when she had played a huge part in what happened.

“I should have told you about my past with Silas and the miscarriage. I just…” she started to explain when he had finished speaking but he cut her off.

“You don't owe me anything. Our marriage is one only in name that stands to benefit us both. I should have protected you better.”

She gulped and opened her mouth to say something, anything but he wasn't finished.

“I don't care about your past and I especially do not care about your relationship with Silas. According to what I gathered, that chapter of your life is now closed.”

She nodded but didn't interrupt him.

“As far as your divorce is concerned, I'll get my lawyer to look at the papers to ensure there are no loopholes.”

Nuella was stunned. He was still being generous even after finding out she had lied to him. Why?

“All I want from you is your loyalty to me. I don't care about your past like I said as long as it doesn't affect this partnership between us.”

She shook her head. “I'm sorry about Silas. He has probably ruined things with your family now.”

He shook his head. “Silas has always been good for nothing and I'm not concerned with anything he has to say. Besides it's his loss for leaving you in the first place so it's quite alright. He'll regret it soon enough.”

Her mouth fell open at his words. Why was he taking her side against his family? His own nephew?

“Just promise me that you'll always be honest with me no matter what. I hate deception and lies, I can't stand it.”

She nodded. “I promise.”

He stood up and turned to leave but she caught her hand, stopping him.

“I have one request to ask from you.” She said to him and he sat back down.

“Anything. Just say it and it's done.”

Nuella's heart rate picked up at his words and she struggled to piece the words she intended to say together.

“Don't be afraid.”

“I'm not,” she grumbled and he chuckled, making her blush. “Silas betrayed me in the worst way possible and I want him to pay dearly for it. He hurt me when he slept with my sister and watched her kick me out of my own room like a common servant.”

He listened to her without interrupting and she felt emboldened by it.

“I was bleeding out and our child was being snuffed out of me while he was busy having sex with my sister.” She paused to control her emotions before she continued speaking again.

“While I was still mourning the loss of my child, his child, he threw divorce papers at me. I want him to feel the same pain I felt and I won't give him a chance to plead for mercy because my child never got a child to breathe in the same air as me.”

Her eyes filled with tears but she held them back. “I want him to feel so much pain and regret. I want him to suffer and to cry the same way I did.”

She stopped speaking and sniffed, brushing away the tears on her face with her hands.

“Is that all?”

She nodded and he grunted.

“Consider it done.” He said then stood up. “Now get some rest.

Nuella watched as he walked out of the room and couldn't help but feel amazed. What type of man is he and how could he be so supportive?

Never before had she felt so safe and secure in a man's words the way she felt in that moment.

She felt confident that he'd keep to his words and that his promises weren't just empty promises.

How could she feel this safe with him when he was practically a stranger to her?

With his help, she knew she would be able to make Silas pay.

It was only a matter of time before Silas would be crawling and begging for her forgiveness.

As she laid down to rest, she smiled feeling happy for the first time in days and all thanks to Kevin Lowes, her contract husband.

Meanwhile in another part of town, Alicia Storm threw a jar at the wall.

She had been unable to control her anger since the party. ”How could Kevin treat me like that”?

“How could he humiliate me like that? Who does he think he is?” She yelled.

“Calm down sis, you'll hurt yourself,” her brother urged but she ignored him as she hurled a vase at the wall.

“He brought shame and disgrace to our family by bringing that nobody and introducing her as his wife! How dare he? I'll teach him a lesson he'll never forget.”

“And I'll handle the woman. Relax, we'll get them. She's nothing compared to the Storms and she should never have messed with our family in the first place.”

“I want to make her suffer and humiliate her the same way he humiliated me.”

“Consider it done, now relax.”

Writer's pov"Sir, I agree with your last sentence. I think it's better for you to go home and relax, and then tomorrow we'll know the next step to take. I think by then our people must have taken the videos down on all social media." Miles agreed with his last sentence."Okay, that's fine." Silas agreed with Miles but was wondering how he is going to leave the company without being noticed by anyone.Sir, I know you are not that kind of person, and you would never be. I have been working with this company for 7 years now, and I know the kind of person you are. I trust you, and I believe in you. I just want you to know that these too shall pass." Her words to him were motivating to Silas. One could tell from the glow on his face. He kept looking at the lady in admiration. "Thank you very much for that. I hope you don't go back on your words because I would have to hold you to that." Silas said as they both said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. The driver was already wait

  • Ex Wife’s Sweetest Revenge    Chapter 25

Writer's pov It was a bright and cool Monday morning; Silas had woken up early just like every other day to resume for the day. He had his breakfast and headed straight to work as usual. When he got to his company, he stepped down from his car and went inside. As he walked past his staff, he noticed the weird stares, gossiping, and side eyes they were giving him. The energy just seemed a little off to him—the fact that as soon as he passed them, they startled like he was a scary person or he had a mask on his face.He tried as much as possible to ignore them all as he immediately went straight to his office. As soon as he got into his office, he called his personal assistant to come over to his office, and when he got there, he began to question him."What's the problem? What's happening in the company today? Is there anything or any information that needs to be passed across to me because I can sense the weird energy everywhere?" Silas asked him, curiously. His personal assistant M

Nuella's povI know it might be awkward having Kevin in the house with us. He might get offended by our loud voices and our late-night laughter. So in order to avoid that, I advise that we spend all night in a luxurious hotel rather than going to spend the night at Kevin's mansion. As we got to the hotel, we unpacked.I placed an order for us to eat while Dora decided to take her shower and put on something more comfortable.A few minutes later, Dora was done taking her shower. She came and joined me in the sitting room, where I was already setting the table for lunch."Hurry up, come join me." I said to her as soon as I sighted her. "Of course," she replied to me and sat down immediately."What do we have here?" she asked me. Well, we have fried potatoes and chicken with the little sauce on it. I know for a fact that it's something that you haven't eaten in a while due to where you are coming from." I replied to her."Oh my goodness, you got me on this one. I'm so in love with you."

Nuella POVWe're done with our meeting, and I was about to leave her office when I got a call."All right, thank you for today. Thank you very much; I hope we see each other some other time." I said to one of the ladies as I walked towards the car."Hello, is anybody there?" I said as I picked up the call. I didn't get any response from anybody, so I wanted to hang up the call when I suddenly heard a feminine voice."Hello, bestie, what's up with you!" I was surprised to hear that voice. "Oh my goodness!" I screamed out."Dora, is that you?"Dora was the last person I expected to call me. We haven't seen her in a long time because she has been out of the country for years now.The last time I spoke to her was a few months ago, and the last time we saw each other was 7 months ago. She has been my friend since childhood. We've done a lot of things together; we play together, cry together, and also have fun together. We have had so many experiences together, and she was a big part of my

Kevin's POVI kept on walking round the compound, thinking and pondering all my thoughts together. I kept on thinking of what Nuella could be up to.I attempted calling her, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that. I tried dialing the number but didn't call her. I stopped walking around and just stood in front of the door trying to place my thoughts together.I have been in so many situations and problems in my life, but I have never been in this kind of situation before now. Being scared of calling someone has never happened to me.As I stood there trying to think of what to do next, I saw my personal driver coming towards me, and I paused to hear what he had to say."Good morning, sir," he greeted me politely. I didn't reply to him; instead, I just raised my eyeballs at him, just so he could know that I was all ears."Sir, I came to know if you needed me to do anything for you, like maybe look for something for you or assist you with anything." He said to me."Are you sick? Or a

Nuella's POV“Oh my…” I said as I stretched from the bed.It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and it was one of my favorite days of the week because it was stress-free and also served as my resting day.But today was different. I woke up very early because yesterday I had prepared a lot of work ahead of the week, so I need to start working on it as soon as possible. And today was the perfect day to start.I woke up early and went straight into the bathroom; I brushed my teeth and had my bath. When I was done dressing up, I went downstairs for breakfast.“Good morning, Nuella,” I heard as I was adjusting my dress when I got to the dining room.I looked up, and it was Kevin; he was still dressed in his pajamas, and of course I wasn't shocked to see that because it was supposed to be a work-free day. He glanced at me like I was some sort of stranger who just walked into his mansion.“Good morning, Mr. Kevin,” I greeted him as I pulled a chair from the dining table and sat down.“Please ge
