Nuella’s Pov
It’s been days in the hospital due to the compulsory bed rest given to me by the doctor and I missed being home. “Hi Mrs Nuella,” a doctor said to me as she walked into my ward with a nurse who accompanied her. “Hi,” I replied and turned to her with a big smile on my face. “I'm here to give your last injection.” the doctor said as she brought out the injection and gave it to me through my drip. “I’m so happy that I will finally be going home. I miss my bed and the smell of fresh air. I don’t know why but I kinda dislike the air that comes from the hospital. I feel like it makes me feel even more sick at times.” I said jokingly to the doctor who had just given me my last injection for the day. “Most patients say that a lot of the time and sometimes I wish I could relate but I can’t even relate maybe because I'm used to the environment already.” the doctor replied to me with a smile while the nurse stared at me and smiled. “No, I think it's because your case is different from mine and any other patients coming here. It's more like you are here to save lives but most of us patients are coming here with a bit of fear thinking we might just never return home.” I muttered with a sad tone. There was a little bit of silence in the ward. “Hmm that's true, you kind of gave a point Mrs. Nuella.” the doctor said as she broke the silence. “I checked your file and you are fully recovered and fit to go back to your daily life.” the doctor said to me as soon as the nurse gave her the file they came in with. She also informed me about the drugs and maintenance medicine that I was to get and use for myself even if I was fully recovered. I noted it down and was waiting for Kevin to arrive so that I could tell him. “Thank you, doctor, I will make sure to get them,” I said to the doctor as they left my ward. A few minutes later Kevin was back from the house. He had just gone home to bring my hand cream because I complained about having dried hands. He rushed home to get my hand cream, I wasn't expecting him to come back so quickly because he left not long ago. “Hi, are you good?” he asked me as soon as he came into the ward. “Yes I am Kevin and I hope it wasn't so much stress looking for my hand cream?” I asked him curiously. “No, it was very easy, I simply followed your direction,” Kevin replied with a straight face. “Ohh wow, I wasn't expecting that,” I muttered. “A few minutes before you came in one of the doctors came and gave me my last injection,” I said to Kevin. “Last injection?” Kevin asked me with a surprising look on his face. “Yes, she said she went through my files and I was fully recovered and was fit to continue my daily life,” I explained to him. “Fully recovered? And fit for daily life?” Kevin asked me in a loud tone. I was so stunned by his reply that I couldn't reply in words. I just nodded my head. “I mean why is he asking and acting this way? I remember vividly a few days ago when I rushed you down here, you look really weak, and the doctor who checked you said you needed enough bed rest” Kevin muttered angrily. “I know you will say you are better but I need to see the chief doctor so that I can be sure that you are fully recovered. I would not forgive myself if I went home and then you start acting funny. Who is that doctor who came to attend to you in my absence? Is he/she a senior doctor and did she take a full vital test on you? His reaction was still confusing to me because I thought that he would be happy for me since I finally had to be free from the shell of the hospital which I have always wanted. “Kevin,” I called out his name, and he answered me. “Yes, Nuella.” I moved forward and looked him in the eyes saying “I'm perfectly fine and you need to believe me and not what the doctors say to you. I own my own body and I'm telling you that I am fully recovered. I was able to stand and walk around the garden of the hospital yesterday and trust me I didn't feel weak like I used to. This time I was feeling good. I could even go twice if I wanted to.” He didn't reply to me, he just kept looking me in the eye. “You know I hate being in the hospital and now I'm feeling even much better. Trust me, I feel more like me, I don’t like it here most especially, the hospital, the doctors, and the medicines coupled with the fact that I was also away from social media. You helped me recover faster and with your constant words of affirmation, I am better and yes the doctor was right, I'm fully recovered. There was a long silence; it was more like a breathing competition in the room. Kevin looked at me like he still had so much to say but he couldn't put it together. He looked like he still doubted the fact that I said I was fully recovered after a short period of time. “Hmmm,” he breathed out and finally broke the silence. “I would love to believe the fact that you said you are fully recovered and fit to go back home to your daily life but I'm not in support of this. You were told to have a long bedrest…” I tried talking back but he stopped me by giving me a sign that he wasn't done talking yet. “So, if you say you are better now it is fine but when you get home you are not allowed to work or do anything yet, at least for the next month. By then I must be really convinced that you are back on your feet.” Kevin continued. “One month?” I ask him, curiously. “Yes, Nuella one month,” he replied to me. “But I have stayed in the hospital for over one week doing nothing and I get really bored sometimes,” I added. Kevin didn't look convinced or moved by what I just said. It seemed he already had it in mind a long time bef now. “It's for your own good Nuella.” Kevin said as he stood up from the chair and walked towards the door. “I will be back soon, please use the hand cream you requested and wait for me,” he added and headed out. I know Kevin is such a sweet soul and a very protective person and I felt it was cute and somehow refreshing sometimes because it made me look like a princess but this time he was doing it too much and I wasn't comfortable with it. He annoys me sometimes with the way he behaves. Besides, I'm no longer a child he could control or play around with. I'm a full-grown adult and I can handle myself. Finally, he talked with the chief doctor who agreed to take my vitals again so as to confirm if I was truly fully recovered and fit to go home. The chief doctor checked everything that needed to be checked and stepped out for a while and a few minutes later I think he was done and the results were out. He told Kevin and me that I was better and fit and it was okay for me to return back to my daily life. I was so happy with his final statement but Kevin looked like he still had some doubts. “Finally, I am going back home,” I said with so much excitement. “I'm happy to see that you are fully recovered and excited about going home,” Kevin said to me as he packed my bags alongside two nurses. “But, you are still going to have your compulsory one month home rest like I said earlier. “But that's not what the doctor said. He told us here that I am perfectly okay, so there is no need for a one month house arrest.” I muttered to him in a sad tone. Maybe he just wants to stop me from being happy. Why punish me like this? A lot needs to be done when I get out of here. And how can I possibly do that just by staying at home? I kept on wondering. “House arrest? Come on Nuella you of all people know that's not a house arrest besides it's for your own good. I'm only doing this for your sake.” Kevin replied to me as he walked closer placing his hands on my shoulder.Writer's pov"Sir, I agree with your last sentence. I think it's better for you to go home and relax, and then tomorrow we'll know the next step to take. I think by then our people must have taken the videos down on all social media." Miles agreed with his last sentence."Okay, that's fine." Silas agreed with Miles but was wondering how he is going to leave the company without being noticed by anyone.Sir, I know you are not that kind of person, and you would never be. I have been working with this company for 7 years now, and I know the kind of person you are. I trust you, and I believe in you. I just want you to know that these too shall pass." Her words to him were motivating to Silas. One could tell from the glow on his face. He kept looking at the lady in admiration. "Thank you very much for that. I hope you don't go back on your words because I would have to hold you to that." Silas said as they both said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. The driver was already wait
Writer's pov It was a bright and cool Monday morning; Silas had woken up early just like every other day to resume for the day. He had his breakfast and headed straight to work as usual. When he got to his company, he stepped down from his car and went inside. As he walked past his staff, he noticed the weird stares, gossiping, and side eyes they were giving him. The energy just seemed a little off to him—the fact that as soon as he passed them, they startled like he was a scary person or he had a mask on his face.He tried as much as possible to ignore them all as he immediately went straight to his office. As soon as he got into his office, he called his personal assistant to come over to his office, and when he got there, he began to question him."What's the problem? What's happening in the company today? Is there anything or any information that needs to be passed across to me because I can sense the weird energy everywhere?" Silas asked him, curiously. His personal assistant M
Nuella's povI know it might be awkward having Kevin in the house with us. He might get offended by our loud voices and our late-night laughter. So in order to avoid that, I advise that we spend all night in a luxurious hotel rather than going to spend the night at Kevin's mansion. As we got to the hotel, we unpacked.I placed an order for us to eat while Dora decided to take her shower and put on something more comfortable.A few minutes later, Dora was done taking her shower. She came and joined me in the sitting room, where I was already setting the table for lunch."Hurry up, come join me." I said to her as soon as I sighted her. "Of course," she replied to me and sat down immediately."What do we have here?" she asked me. Well, we have fried potatoes and chicken with the little sauce on it. I know for a fact that it's something that you haven't eaten in a while due to where you are coming from." I replied to her."Oh my goodness, you got me on this one. I'm so in love with you."
Nuella POVWe're done with our meeting, and I was about to leave her office when I got a call."All right, thank you for today. Thank you very much; I hope we see each other some other time." I said to one of the ladies as I walked towards the car."Hello, is anybody there?" I said as I picked up the call. I didn't get any response from anybody, so I wanted to hang up the call when I suddenly heard a feminine voice."Hello, bestie, what's up with you!" I was surprised to hear that voice. "Oh my goodness!" I screamed out."Dora, is that you?"Dora was the last person I expected to call me. We haven't seen her in a long time because she has been out of the country for years now.The last time I spoke to her was a few months ago, and the last time we saw each other was 7 months ago. She has been my friend since childhood. We've done a lot of things together; we play together, cry together, and also have fun together. We have had so many experiences together, and she was a big part of my
Kevin's POVI kept on walking round the compound, thinking and pondering all my thoughts together. I kept on thinking of what Nuella could be up to.I attempted calling her, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that. I tried dialing the number but didn't call her. I stopped walking around and just stood in front of the door trying to place my thoughts together.I have been in so many situations and problems in my life, but I have never been in this kind of situation before now. Being scared of calling someone has never happened to me.As I stood there trying to think of what to do next, I saw my personal driver coming towards me, and I paused to hear what he had to say."Good morning, sir," he greeted me politely. I didn't reply to him; instead, I just raised my eyeballs at him, just so he could know that I was all ears."Sir, I came to know if you needed me to do anything for you, like maybe look for something for you or assist you with anything." He said to me."Are you sick? Or a
Nuella's POV“Oh my…” I said as I stretched from the bed.It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and it was one of my favorite days of the week because it was stress-free and also served as my resting day.But today was different. I woke up very early because yesterday I had prepared a lot of work ahead of the week, so I need to start working on it as soon as possible. And today was the perfect day to start.I woke up early and went straight into the bathroom; I brushed my teeth and had my bath. When I was done dressing up, I went downstairs for breakfast.“Good morning, Nuella,” I heard as I was adjusting my dress when I got to the dining room.I looked up, and it was Kevin; he was still dressed in his pajamas, and of course I wasn't shocked to see that because it was supposed to be a work-free day. He glanced at me like I was some sort of stranger who just walked into his mansion.“Good morning, Mr. Kevin,” I greeted him as I pulled a chair from the dining table and sat down.“Please ge
