Chapter 29

Carolina and Betty watched as Layla slammed the door and stormed out of the house. Mike sat on the bed, clearly distressed by how the conversationhad gone.

"What are we going to do now?" Betty asked her mother.

"Well, we have to talk to Layla," Carolina replied. "We need to find out what's really going on here. Is she really a gold digger,or is there something else at play?"

Mike looked up at his family, feeling ashamed for getting into this situation in the first place. "I shouldn't have let it get this far," he said. "I should have listened to you guys."

"It's not too late to fix this," Carolina said. "We just need to talk to Layla and find a compromise that works for everyone."

Mike nodded, but he wasn't sure how that was going to happen. Layla had been so adamant about her demands, and he didn't know if she was willing to budge.
