I WATCHED IN slight amusement as the faces of people around me shifted in shock. My mind could not comprehend the amount of money that Adraino was spending to get back at our enemies.

I was certain that the blogs were going to have a field trip with the news.

I looked around the ballroom. Laura had a slack look on her face, and Dante was red with rage beside her.

Clarance stood on the other side of the room, sweating profusely as she stared at me angrily, but I did not care. I was strangely enjoying this show of power.

When it was all over, Adriano handed me a glass of champagne and said in a whisper, "What do you think, Miss Avery?"

I hid my smirk behind my cup as I took a small sip and said, "That was a showoff. I do not need you fighting my battles."

He chuckled and responded, "Look at their faces and tell me that you're not satisfied."
