The events ended, Briella and Brian walked out only to be stopped by Mrs Linford.

Anger was evident in her eyes by just seeing Briella. As she opened her mouth to speak, she got an urgent call and left.

“Who does she think she is stopping us?” Brian was ready to make a scene if she had tried anything.

“You don't have to worry, she's all bark and no bite,” Briella said in exhaustion.

Grateful to have escaped the unpleasant confrontation.

They had just reached the parking lot when a voice called out.

“Briella!”

She turned to find Allen (Hayden’s brother) jogging toward her. His presence was a surprise, but not unwelcome.

Brian, sensing the moment, gave her a look. “I’ll be in the car.”

Briella nodded and turned back to Allen.

David got information on the hide out of the gang that kidnapped Lauren's sister and they planned to strike. The small house downtown looked inhabitable from the outside, it had cracked walls and dead light bulbs but David knew better. He stepped out of the van with a bulletproof vest secured and a gun in his hands, his men were already taking positions, they strategically surrounded the house. A nod from David, and the front door exploded open."Everyone, hands where I can see them!" voices roared. The men knew the in and out of the place bolted even faster than their shadows. Three dashed out the back, two ran over the side fence. There was an order to bring the bad guys alive so David’s men were extra careful not to kill anyone. There was an exchange of fire and pursuit. The bad guys were professional and already used to the area so they disappeared with the blink of an eye.Only one of them got caught. He was young, probably in his early twenties. Sweat beads formed on his forehe

Jaylen hadn’t expected this, as far as he knew, Hayden wasn’t even in the city that day let alone standing here, breathing the same air as him, staring down at Briella like he belonged in the room. And the worst part was that he didn't disguise because he was so sure.“I should be asking you that,” Jaylen said at last, voice quiet but cold. His posture was stiff, his knuckles pale as he clenched the railing of Briella’s hospital bed.Hayden took a half step forward. “This is my…”He stopped himself, the word getting tangled in his throat. My what, my woman or my responsibility? Those words didn't even make sense.“I’m here for her,” he said instead.Jaylen’s jaw twitched. “So am I.”Their eyes locked. And for a second, the room shrank. They had the same broad shoulders. The same height, same sharp jawline and eye shape. The kind of resemblance that wasn’t born out of coincidence.Hayden’s brows furrowed as he studied the man in front of him. “Who are you?” he asked again.Jaylen hesit

Highcare Hospital Hours earlier.Briella stirred, her eyelids felt like they were stitched together. she managed to peel them open but even that small movement took more effort than she expected. Her throat was like she hadn’t swallowed in days. She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Just a croak, dry and broken. After the doctors examined her and left, a warm hand suddenly touched hers.“Briella?” a voice whispered, low and breathless. She tried to lift her lashes again, slower this time. Through the haze, a figure leaned over her.He looked like he hadn’t slept in days.“Lex” she mouthed, barely a sound.“I’m here. I’m right here.” His voice cracked, and his thumb gently stroked the back of her hand. “God, Brie. You scared the hell out of us.”Her lips parted, dry and trembling. “How…?”“You’re safe in the Hospital.” He grabbed a cup from the side table, carefully raised her head just enough to let her sip. She coughed.“Easy, small sips.” He supported her, holding he

A small girl not older than five years sat on the sofa, her legs dangling beneath. She held a barbie doll with one arm and munching on a biscuit with the other while the television played spongebob cartoon in front of her. Laughter bubbled from her lips as her tiny fingers twirled the doll’s tangled yarn hair.At the door, her nanny stood still, her eyes fixed on her watching the child like she was memorizing every detail of her face.“It’s bedtime now missy,” the nanny said, her voice calm but a little distant. She walked in, switched off the television without waiting for protest, and gently took the little girl's hand. The little girl obeyed without question, carrying her doll as they made their way toward the stairs.Just as they climbed up the stairs, the front door opened roughly. Her father stepped in. Garland Milton, followed by the smell of expensive cologne tainted with alcohol. He didn’t see his daughter at first. His words were sharp and directed only at her nanny.“You d

Ballons and decorations covered the interior of the Owens mansion. With the surprise party, Mrs. Owen had gone above and beyond as she always did with her husband. The small but significant guest list included close business partners, long-time friends, and a few neighbours who had watched the family grow over the years. She knew her husband didn’t care much about grand displays, so she kept it intimate, classy, and without his knowledge.Brian stood by the entrance, watching the joy slowly spread across his father’s face as the lights shined on and the loud “Surprise!” filled the hall.Mr. Owen stood in silence, stunned at the display before him. Then a slow smile stretched across his face. “Well, I’ll be damned,” he muttered, his voice rough with emotion. “You people planned this behind my back?”Brian and his sister chuckled, As they moved forward to pull their father into a bear hug. “Happy 70th, Dad.
