Jayson:

I barely slept that night.

Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Betty lying unconscious in that hospital bed. I would wake up irritated with myself, turn to the other side, and try to sleep again, only for the same thoughts to return.

By morning, I was exhausted.

I just finished getting dressed when my phone rang.

I glanced at the screen and answered immediately.

“Hello?” I say to the screen.

“Mr. Blackwood, it's the hospital.”

“What happened?” my heartbeat raced with fear.

“Your wife has regained consciousness.”

My lips parted, relief washed through me.

Betty is awake.

I looked down at the watch on my wrist.

“Is she okay?”

“She is conscious, but she's still weak. The doctor wants her to remain under observation.”

I nodded even though he couldn't see me.

“I'm coming.” I ended the call and grabbed my car keys.

I don't understand why I was rushing.

Betty is awake and that was good news. At least I wouldn't have to keep wondering whether she would survive the night.

That was all.

I wasn't going there because I suddenly loved her.

I wasn't going there to change my mind about the divorce.

I just wanted to know that she was fine.

That was what I told myself as I walked downstairs.

I was already heading toward the front door when I heard someone call my name.

“Jayson.”

I stopped and turned around.

Jewel was standing there.

She looked beautiful, but unlike every other morning, there was no smile on her face.

“Jewel?”

She walked toward me slowly. “I came to see you.”

“I was about to leave, did something happen my love? I'm sorry you heard about Betty's pregnancy from someone else, I should have told you but I didn’t know that one nightstand would lead to...”

“I know.” Her voice sounded different.

“What's wrong?”

She stopped in front of me and stared into my eyes.

“I need you, baby.”

My grip tightened around the car keys. “Jewel...”

“I mean it.”

She reached for my hand. “I've been trying to be strong through everything that's happening, but I can't do this alone.”

I stared at her and she lowered her gaze.

“Everyone is blaming me. The internet is filled with things about us. People are calling me names. They're saying I ruined your marriage. They're saying I stole you from Betty.”

“You didn't, don't mind them.” I cupped her cheeks and kissed her forehead.

“But they're saying it.” She looked up at me again, her eyes glossy with tears.

“And now Betty is awake.”

“She'll tell them everything, won't she?” Jewel asked quietly. “She'll tell everyone that I was the reason she left.”

I feel really bad, like so bad now, I hate seeing her stressed out and sad.

Jewel squeezed my hand. “I'm scared.”

Those two words immediately softened something inside me.

I pulled her closer. “You have nothing to be scared of.”

“But I do.” She rested her forehead against my chest. “I don't want to lose you.”

I closed my eyes.

This was Jewel.

The woman I had loved before Betty ever entered my life.

The woman I had chosen despite everything.

And yet, while I held her, my mind betrayed me.

Betty was awake.

She was in that hospital.

Probably wondering where I was.

I opened my eyes and glanced toward the door.

I was supposed to be there.

But Jewel's arms tightened around me. “Please don't leave me right now.”

I looked down at her.

“I need you, Jayson.”

My chest tightened.

I already promised myself that I wouldn't let Betty's condition change what I felt for Jewel.

So why did leaving suddenly feel so difficult?

I looked at the time.“I'll stay for a little while.”

Jewel smiled faintly through her tears. “Thank you.”

She wrapped her arms around me again.

I held her, but my mind wasn't completely there.

Betty has opened her eyes and for some reason, I couldn't stop wondering what the first thing she had asked for was.

Maybe she asked for her father.

Maybe Eleanor.

Maybe she asked about the baby.

Or maybe she asked for me.

I immediately pushed the thought away.

Betty didn't need me.

Not anymore.

She had asked for a divorce.

And I had given it to her.

So why did the thought of her waking up without me beside her bother me this much?

I stayed with Jewel longer than I had planned.

She kept talking about the media, about the comments she had been receiving and how quickly everything had spiraled out of control. I listened, occasionally reassuring her that things would settle down, but my mind kept drifting back to the hospital.

Betty was awake.

That thought wouldn't leave me alone.

I stood up. “I should go now babe.”

Jewel looked up at me immediately. “Where?”

“The hospital of course.”

Her expression changed. “You said you'd stay with me.”

“I did. And I did.”

“So you're leaving me for her?” she pointed out.

“That's not what I said.”

“But you're going to see her.”

“She just woke up, Jewel. I need to know how she is.”

Jewel looked away, wiping the corner of her eye.“Fine.”

I sighed. “Don't do this, please I'm begging you.”

“Do what?”

“Make it seem like I'm choosing her over you.”

“Isn't that what you're doing? And if it's not like that, don't go Jay.”

I stared at her.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes. “Please, Jayson. Stay with me.”

For a moment, I didn't know what to say.

Then my phone vibrated.

I pulled it from my pocket.

It was the hospital again.

I answered immediately. “Hello?”

“Mr. Blackwood, I'm calling to let you know that Mrs. Blackwood is asking for her husband.”

“I'm coming.” I ended the call.

Jewel heard enough.

“She asked for you?”

I nodded slowly.

She looked down at her hands.

“Of course she did, she was even the one you got married to, meanwhile I was the one that was always there for you. Jayson, we've been dating since 2018, and you…you ended up marrying Betty.” she sniffed.

Yeah, but I wish she could see how tight it was for me.

“Jewel…”

“Go, your family, including you, always put her first while I'm nothing.” Tears rolled down her cheeks.

“Common baby.” I held her hands and kissed her knuckles. “You know I'll always love you and it has always been you, so I promise I'll come back.”

She gave me a small smile that didn't reach her eyes.

“I know.”

I walked toward the door.

But before I could leave, she called my name.

I turned around.

“Be careful.”

I nodded and walked out.

The drive to the hospital felt longer than usual.

My hands were tight around the steering wheel as I replayed the phone call in my head.

Betty asked for me. Why? Did she want answers, to talk about the divorce, to tell me she regretted leaving or maybe she simply woke up confused and didn't realize what had happened?

I don't know.

And somehow, not knowing made me nervous.

(Betty’s POV) The footage was clear enough that there was no mistaking either of them. For a moment everything around me became strangely quiet. I stared at the screen, and did not know where they were going. I did not know why they were there. I did not know what had happened before the video was recorded. But none of that mattered to Thalia. She wanted me to be hurt, it's obvious she wanted me to see it. I slowly lifted my gaze. “Is that all?” She looked surprised. “What?” I handed the phone back. “Is that all you wanted to show me?” Her expression hardened. “You aren’t even going to cry?” “No.” I forced a smile. “Why would I cry in front of you?” She stared at me for a moment before saying, “Because you’re pathetic enough to keep hoping he will eventually love you.” The words hit me harder than I wanted to admit. But I refused to give her the satisfaction. I turned around. “I have nothing else to say to you.” I walked out of the kitchen. My hands were

(Betty’s POV)Haven’t I already spent years trying not to interfere? Haven’t I accepted every cold look, every distant response, every reminder that his heart belonged somewhere else? Nobody knew that. Nobody knew that sometimes I had cried myself to sleep because I felt like a stranger in my own marriage. Nobody knew how humiliating it was to stand beside a man who looked at everyone except his own wife with genuine affection. Nobody knew how many times I had told myself that perhaps things would eventually change. And now, because strangers had seen a few pictures and heard one side of a story, I was suddenly the woman who had stolen someone else’s love.I opened TikTok again. I should not have. But I did. A new comment caught my attention.“She probably got pregnant on purpose to trap him.”My heart stopped. My hand instinctively moved to my stomach. The words hurt more than I expected.“How did you even know that?” I whispered to the empty room.Another person replied beneath it.

(Betty’s POV)I stared at the name. For several seconds I could not believe what I was seeing. Jewel, Jayson’s first love. The woman he has just admitted he still loved only minutes ago. The woman whose name had haunted the beginning of my marriage. She sent me a friend request.A slow, almost disbelieving smile spread across my lips even as my stomach twisted. I stared at her profile picture—elegant, polished, the same woman I had seen in the old photographs Jayson used to keep. My thumb hovered over the screen. I did not know why she had sent it. I did not know what she wanted. But one thing was certain: Jewel Smith has walked into my life and this time, she has come looking for me.I stared at the friend request for several more seconds, a strange mixture of curiosity and apprehension settling heavily in my chest. Even seeing her name there felt surreal. For months she existed in my marriage as a ghost I could never escape—a woman I never properly met but somehow knew f

(BETTY’S POV)I swallowed. “Jay, it’s okay.”“No, it isn’t.” He looked directly into my eyes. “You didn’t deserve it.”I forced a small smile, though my chest felt tight. “I understood why you acted that way.”“That doesn’t make it right.”“You were in love with someone else.” The words came out more quietly than I intended. “Anyone in my position would have been hurt. But even though you didn’t love me, you still treated me well in front of everyone. You took care of me when I was sick. You never deliberately humiliated me.”His expression softened. “You were there for me too.”I looked down at the roses in my arms. “I was your wife.”“You were more than that.”My eyes immediately returned to meet his own. For a moment neither of us said a word. There was something in the silence—something charged and unspoken. The way he was looking at me made my heart race. Suddenly all the little things he had done over the past few days came rushing back: the way he would not let me cook, the

Betty’s POVJayson has always been the kind of man who acted as though nothing in the world could ever truly bother him. He moved through life with a quiet, almost indifferent confidence that used to frustrate me more than I ever admitted out loud. He could walk past me in the hallway of our Paris mansion without a single word, spend entire evenings buried in work documents or long conference calls, and give me that same cool, unreadable look whenever I tried to catch his attention. That was the version of him I had grown used to—the distant husband, the man who fulfilled his marital duties with careful politeness but never with warmth. That was the man I married under a contract neither of us had chosen freely.I don't know what exactly made me love him even despite this cold nonchalant attitude of his, like my heart still chose him.He always gives me the I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU attitude. But ever since I returned from the hospital, his nonchalantness has changed. He was still Ja

Jayson: “The pregnancy is currently stable,” The doctor continued. “However, she is physically and emotionally vulnerable. We need to avoid anything that could cause severe emotional distress.” Marcus swallowed. “Does that include telling her about the divorce?” The doctor hesitated. “Right now, yes. I strongly advise against suddenly telling her that her marriage has ended.” “But the divorce is already…” “I understand,” he interrupted me. “But from her perspective, that event hasn't happened. If she suddenly learns that she lost her marriage, discovered her husband was with another woman, left home, and ended up hospitalized…all at once, the emotional shock could be severe.” “So what are we supposed to do?” “Let her recover first. We can monitor her memory and assess whether those memories return naturally.” “And if they don't?” I asked. The doctor looked at me. “Then we'll deal with that when the time comes.” I stared at the floor. This was insane. Only

Jay: I’m happy Betty finally said we should get a divorce. I've always wanted to hear it from her after a long time. I walk inside my room, loosening my tie. He could’ve just pretended as if he wasn't happy. That was the part that hurt the most. Not the affair—not even the fact that it was her. Not the humiliation, not the quiet nights spent alone in a marriage that felt emptier with each passing day. He could’ve at least pretended not to be happy.

“Let’s get a divorce,” I said. For a moment, he didn’t react. Then he chuckled as if I had just told a joke. He wasn't sure I understood myself. “Because you found out Jewel is back, you want to threaten me with a divorce?” he asked, his tone laced with mockery, his lips curling into that fam

Betty: One day, I found out my husband, Jayson Blackwood, was having an affair. It wasn’t shocking in the way betrayal is supposed to be. Jayson had never treated me right, not once in the entire year we’d been married. Ours wasn’t a love story that led to marriage. It was a contract marriage. A
