MasukThe man picks up Aurora who is still sobbing with her lower lip out as she sniffles. He pulls at her cheeks as he smiles adoringly at her.
“Hey little one. I’m so sorry you fell”. He pats her hair.
He looks into her green eyes that remind him of hers. She finally smiles at him and someone else’s image comes into his mind.
He shakes his head trying to get rid of it. He reciprocates her smile. He turns to his sister with a huge smile. However, his sister looks impatient. Knowing the kind of person she is, he removes his phone from his pocket and sends a text to his driver.
“I just sent a text to the driver. He will be here soon. You can just go to the lounge to wait for him”. He informs her. She nods and leaves in the direction of the lounge without saying a word.
Caleb heaves a sigh of relief the minute she leaves. He had come to pick her up from the airport to prevent her from complaining about being abandoned later on.
He had even hoped that she would have helped him with the little girl. There was no single maternal bone in her body too.
He returns his face to the little girl in his arms.
“Hey. What is your name?”. She looks at him in silence for a few seconds. He almost concludes that she is mute until she cracks a toothy smile and speaks.
“Aurora”. He almost coos at her voice.
“You are very cute, Aurora.” He squeezes her cheek in fondness. Aurora places her chubby little hands on his cheeks, too, mirroring his action.
He chuckles at her action.
“Where is your mummy or daddy?”. He asks her. He knows she can not be here alone and whoever is here with her is worried sick.
At the question, her face turns sour and she starts crying. He starts to panic immediately trying to find a way to get her to stop crying.
He spots a cotton candy shop near them and an idea comes to him. He turns her in the direction of the cotton candy stand to put it in her line of view.
“Look! Do you want some cotton candy?”. He points at the stand. She rubs her eyes and follows his line of sight. Her eyes light up, which shows Caleb that he made the right decision.
“Pink! Pink!”. She points excitedly at it.
Pink? Well, a win is a win, he thinks to himself.
He goes to the cotton candy stand and buys one. After collecting it, he hands it to her. Wrong move to give such to a 3-year-old because it lands on the floor the second she carries it.
She starts a tantrum again and he knows that if he doesn’t get her another one soon, he will be in trouble. He gestures to the man who is making the cotton candy to make another one.
He takes out $50 from his wallet and hands it to the man.
“Oh sir. It’s just $10. I don’t have any change”.
“You can keep the change”. Caleb gives him a smile which the man reciprocates with a grateful nod.
In a few seconds, the cotton candy is ready. This time, he has learned his lesson, and he holds the stick with his left hand while allowing her to eat from it.
He starts walking away from the stand and looks for a chair to sit down. He decides to go to the immigration office with her once she is done with the cotton candy.
After making a mess of the whole thing, she finishes it with pink sugar all over her face. He uses his handkerchief to clean her face.
A part of him strangely wants to keep her but he finds it ridiculous because the kid is not even his. Her eyes though…. They remind him of his own eyes. And her smile? They look so much like that woman’s own.
He must be overthinking things now.
“Aurora, you want some water?”. She nods in response.
He bends down to take a bottle of water from the side of his bag. He opens it and helps her to drink it.
When she’s had her fill, he carries her up in his arms again.
“Mama”. She starts calling out again. She begins to rub her eyes again and he immediately knows that she is about to start crying.
“Yes, we are going to mummy, so no need to cry, okay?”. She nods and keeps quiet.
He gives her a peck on her cheek and starts walking. He pauses when he feels something on his cheek. He turns to her surprised.
“You like copying me, don’t you?”. He chuckles. She covers her mouth and lets out cute little giggles.
He cannot stop himself from hugging her, so he does it anyway.
“I am going to miss you, little one”. She smiles at him as if understanding him.
“Alright, let’s go find Mama,” He asks for directions to the immigration office.
Coincidentally, at the same time he is leaving the outdoor area of the airport, Ava starts calling out for Aurora through the mic.
Caleb only starts hearing her voice when he has almost reached the office. He knocks on the door and enters. Inside the office, two people, a man and a woman, seated behind a desk in uniforms.
“Good day. I came to ask if you could help me find this little girl’s mother. I found her lost and it doesn’t look like she can tell us her mother’s name right now. Her name is Aurora”. He tries to place her down into the chair but she holds on tightly to his shirt.
The woman looks amused at the scene.
“Are you sure that’s not your daughter you are trying to dump with us?”. Caleb laughs at her question.
He is about to reply when the door opens up. The person that steps in, leaves him utterly dumbstruck.
“Ava?”
“Mama!”. Aurora says with outstretched arms.
Her face was filled with bright smiles as she stepped into the house, she looked at the house and her suspicion grew stronger. She knew that something was wrong and someone was trying to do something to her but she could not place it. " Hey, I know you want to go over and do a lot of digging and I know you do have lots of questions, but I want you to rest," he said. She did not think it was what she needed, she never saw a need to take a rest like the way he was saying it. It pissed her off that he would say that to her. " I'll take her to her room" was the only thing she said to Chris. She held Aurora's hands as she led her to her room. She got in and ran her eyes all over the place. She expected that the room would be cleaned but that was not what she saw. As she turned to the door to step out of the room, Chris was standing by the door. " I told Clara to leave things the way they were, I knew you were going to find out what happened, so I asked her not to clear anything" he s
Sophia got home, feeling so upset about what it was that was going on with Chris and Ava. She wanted to find out if her deliveries were done the way she had wanted it. She wanted to be sure that the child was injured in a way that it would be hard for her to be alive. She paced the room and wished that the death of Aurora was going to appear in the news any moment from now. She seriously hoped for it as she stayed glued to the television and even to her phone. She got tired of waiting and decided to call the person that made the deliveries. " Hey, what the hell did you do? I gave you an instruction, why was it not done the way I wanted it to be done?" She asked. .The person at the other end of the phone went silent at first. " I know you heard me and I know you can speak as well," she said. " Of course, I did as I was told, I made sure that everything was in order, I did deliver the package to them and by now, things should have taken a different turn" he said. It sounded false
She paced about the hallway. Her heart was beating so fast, her palms were shaky as well. She hated that she had not paid so much attention to her daughter, she has been busy with trying to keep Caleb off. " I need you to relax a bit, she is going to be fine. The doctor said she will be okay, it's a little burn" Chris said. Ava did not think so. Even though it was a little burn from the device Aurora uses to play, she still thinks it did so much damage. Chris was rather calm, his hands were not as shaky as that of Ava. " You aren't worried about her safety? You look perfectly fine with what just happened and I can not believe you right now" she said. Chris ran his hand through his face and held her shoulders. " Can you stop, I understand you are scared for her, but it does not mean that I am not scared as well, and please, do not give me that look" he said. He felt she was accusing him of feeling less concerned about Aurora. " I don't believe you," she said. " I do not know
Sophia rolled her eyes as she heard that she was given a little time to say whatever she wants. " What do you want?" She asked him. " We have a common enemy and that's why I am here" she said. Ava smiled, she found it silly to be told that by Sophia. " I do not remember having any of your enemies as mine, say whatever you wish to say and leave" she said. " You should be calm and listen to me. You do not want Caleb and he did something to me. I want us to be able to work together and get him to his knees" she said. " I have nothing to say to you about that, I can't do it,find someone else" she said. Ava stood up but was held back by Sophia. " You are going to forgive him just like that? Remember that he did something to you and made you be in a bad state,we can get him to his knees and render him as nothing" she said. She held a serious and angry look. Ava gently removed Sophia's hands. " Don't dare walk in here again to tell me about such a thing, do you hear me?" She warned
A bottle of alcohol was in her hands. Her eyes were filled with so much tears, she wished she had not done the recording. " He told me he loved me and he wanted to be with me, why did he have to do this to me?" She said, The tears she had been holding back began to fall down her face. She was in so much pain but there was nothing she could do. She got out of the house and got into her car. She drove alone down to Caleb's house. She got there, and had the button on his gate pressed so many times, she was also ringing his phone as well. " Are you stupid? I told you that I did not want you here, what's so hard to get in that?" He asked her. She scoffed, wondering if she was dreaming or this was some silly joke." I want to talk with you," she said. " Why do you want to do that? We have nothing to talk about and you know it, you can equally text me whatever you wish to say, Sophia" he said. His face held so much seriousness, he was not going to open the gates for her. She looked a
He called his lawyer as soon as she left his house. He spoke with so much tension that he wondered if he was okay. " Are you sure about this?" His lawyer asked him. " I'm way too sure, I have her on recording and there's even a video as well, there's no way she can deny this" he said. " I want you at my office right now. We have to handle this as soon as we can" he ended the call. Caleb drove crazily to his lawyer's office. He got there and got into the building. He made his way to his lawyer's office where he met him seated. He had his eyes on him before he drew out one of the chairs and got seated. " Let me have it" his lawyer stretched his hands out to him. He placed his laptop on the table, and then inserted the drive into the system. He turned it to his lawyer to handle things from there. His lawyer played the video and got all of the information that he wanted. He raised his face and looked at him. " Thank you, this will compel her to do something about the videos in he
Ava had her bags packed as well. She went to Bella's room. Got in and checked on Aurora. " I'll be gone for a few days, the security men have returned, so the house is safe, but do not leave. Do not take my daughter anywhere till I am back" she said. Bella nodded her head. Ava kissed Aurora and p
He poured one more drink into her glass as he watched her take it. She smiled at him as she drank all of it. She was glad that her little plan had worked and she wondered why it took her this long to do it. " You have been so kind to me lately, I like the way I am being treated right now, it feel
He saw her father outside. He knows that Sophia was there. " I want to speak with Sophia," he said. Her father looked at him, confused at what he was doing there in his house. He had asked him to come to his house the other day, but he refused. He turned it down, and there he was, right in his ho
Ava was out of the house, she knows she's meant to be inside the house but she does not care about that. Chris has asked her to choose being miserable and being happy and she chose to be happy. She was visiting lots of places and uploading all of her visits to the media. Caleb would stay in his o
