Ava's eyes widened in shock as she locked eyes with Caleb's equally stunned face, her world coming to a sudden halt.

"Mama!" Aurora called to her mother, arms outstretched, snapping Ava out of her frozen state.

Walking towards her daughter, Ava's expression quickly shifted to relief. She leaned forward, gently retrieving Aurora from Caleb's arms and securing her in her own before taking a few steps away from the still stunned Caleb.

"You had Mommy worried sick," Ava said, pinching Aurora's cheek gently. "Don't ever go off on your own again, okay?" she scolded gently. Aurora nodded in response.

"I made a new friend, Mommy," Aurora said, pointing towards Caleb and bringing her mother's attention back to the man she was desperately trying to avoid eye contact with.

"Thank you for finding my daughter," Ava said quietly to Caleb, avoiding his eyes as she mumbled her words.

She quickly turned around and left with Aurora, not wanting to be in the same space as Caleb for even a second longer. She caught a glimpse of his lips moving before leaving but had no interest in hearing his voice or what he had to say. She couldn't help but blame her bad luck for running into him.

Why couldn't the heavens just be on her side for this trip, just for this one trip? She released a small sigh to calm herself when she saw Chris approaching her with a relieved look.

"You found her," Chris said, ruffling Aurora's hair as she giggled in excitement at seeing him. "Where did you run off to?"

"I was chasing after the balloons, but then I got lost," Aurora explained, her forehead furrowing in a frown before relaxing. "But I made a nice new friend who brought me to Mama."

"Is that so," Chris said, his eyes settling on Ava's slightly pale face.

He couldn't help but wonder if something else had happened while she was searching for Aurora, but he decided to ask her about it at a later time.

Back at the immigration office, Caleb still stood in the same position, unable to react after seeing Ava.

She was the last person he thought he would ever run into, but there she was, right in front of his eyes, much to his bewilderment.

Finally snapping out of his dazed state, he hurriedly stepped out of the immigration office, hoping to catch up to Ava, but to his disappointment, he couldn't even catch a glimpse of her.

After scanning the area with his eyes for a few more minutes and still not finding her or her daughter, he decided to give up the search. He called for his driver to pick him up and drop him off at his company, as he had some things to take care of at the office.

Finishing up his work, Caleb leaned back in his seat, his head thrown back and his eyes shut tiredly as a weak sigh escaped his lips.

He couldn't shake the image of Ava standing just across from him in the immigration office, holding her daughter in her arms.

She hadn't changed at all. She was still as beautiful as he remembered, or even more so – surpassing any previous image he had of her in his mind.

Was she married to another man now? Caleb thought to himself as Aurora came to mind. If she was married, did she arrive in the country with him? What kind of man was her husband?

Caleb frowned, his brows furrowed, as these train of thoughts ran incessantly through his mind. He sat up abruptly, his eyes snapping back open.

Why was he even thinking about her and what her life was like now? He had no right to entertain such thoughts, especially after what he put her through four years ago.

The sound of his phone ringing interrupted his thoughts, and he quickly glanced at the screen. His frown deepened when he saw the name displayed on the screen.

He made no attempt to answer the call until the ringing stopped. The call came again immediately after, and this time Caleb begrudgingly answered it.

"Hey babe," Sophia chirped from the other end of the line.

"Hey," Caleb responded, the lack of enthusiasm apparent in his tone.

"Why didn't you pick up the first time I called?"

"I'm sorry, I was busy," Caleb replied, not wanting her to drag on the conversation any longer than necessary.

"Ok. I'm making dinner tonight. I'm taking my time to prepare your favorite, Beef sauce."

"Hmm. Great. Can't wait to get back home."

Caleb knew she was lying about cooking since Sophia couldn't cook, which was a known fact to him. She was just going to ask the chef to make the meal and lie about preparing it, as she always did.

"Ok. I love you, bye," Sophia said, to which Caleb responded with a small, indifferent 'hm' before hanging up the call.

He dropped his phone back on his desk before running his fingers through his slightly disheveled hair, making it even more messy.

After letting out a frustrated groan, he stood up, picked up his phone, and exited his office.

With her phone in one hand and a towel in the other, drying her damp auburn hair, Ava sat on the bed scrolling through her phone.

After she and Chris checked into the hotel, they both went to their separate rooms. Aurora had been energetically running around the room and even playing on the bed, but after taking her bath, she immediately fell asleep on her mother's lap.

Ava glanced towards her tired, sleeping daughter's face, her small lips parted as her chest rose and fell in rhythm, causing a small smile to creep onto Ava's face.

She sighed as she recalled what happened at the airport. To think she would run into Caleb just after entering the country. Leaning forward, she placed a light, gentle peck on Aurora's forehead.

She hoped she would never run into him again until her movie shoot wraps up, but of course things were not going to go the way she wanted it to.

She was not comfortable with the way he had spoken to her over the phone. It seemed like something was wrong with him. She was standing in front of the building where she was about to drop Aurora. She had wanted Chris to go in with her but since he was big there with her, she had to go in by herself. She hated the feeling that she was having as she went there alone. She was attended to and they are so happy to have her daughter there. It was a smooth registration and she succeeded in keeping Aurora there. After making sure her daughter was fine, she headed to her shoot venue. She thought about Chris and how he did not sound okay over the phone. She wanted to go to his hotel room to find out what was wrong, but she had a shoot to be present on. " Ava, can we have you here?" One of the directors called her; she was torn between going after Chris, who did not sound okay, and going for her shoot. " I am not going to be here for a long time; something just came up, and I will have

She held her phone in her hands as she looked at the number, staring her back in the face. She wondered if it was necessary or if she could just go ask Ava if Caleb had been after her lately. " She is not going to answer me or tell me what I want to know," she sighed. She went ahead and dialed the number. She held the phone, waiting for him to pick it up. " Hey, how is it going with you?" She asked as soon as he picked up. " I'm good; it's been a while. Do you have a job for me?" his husked voice was heard from the other end of the phone. " Yes, can we meet up? I will send you the address" she said as she ended the call. She did not want the maid to know what she was talking about as she was still in Caleb's house. She turned her head and saw a maid standing close to her, she flew back in fear. Then she went closer to the maid. " Tell me, did you hear anything at all?" " I heard nothing, ma'am," she said fearfully. She did not want to believe the maid but she had to. She g

Ava Martin was on the screen as one of the top Actresses in the city. The shoot for that day was over and she was back home. She was in front of the television, watching the news, it was about her being so good at what she does. There was a bowl of popcorn in front of her and a cup of juice as well. She would dip her hands into the bowl and take some popcorn from it. She would also stretch herself to take the drink as well. Chris walked into the room. He had not gone yet, and that was because Aurora would not let him go; he had to follow them to the hotel room so he could please Aurora. " You are so good. Look who is on the screen again," he said. " They can not do without me, I happen to make the news, I'm the one always talked about" " I guess I manage you so well. Look who is being recognized again and again." he raised his shoulders up at how good he was at managing Ava. " I should get your pay increased," Ava burst out laughing. " That should not be a joke," he said. H

One would think that he was going to back down from going after her but no, it was not someone like Caleb Reed. He followed behind her like someone who was chasing after those who took something from him. His driver would look at him, expecting him to say something about them stopping and turning back but he kept a straight face. When he saw that his driver was stealing glances at him. He dropped his phone and looked at him. " Is anything the problem?" He asked him. " You will be late for work, should we not turn back and head to the office instead?" " The last time I checked, I was the one paying for your services, isn't that so?" " My apologies sir," he said as he slightly bowed his head. Caleb was a bit pissed with his driver, but his mood changed when he could see Ava clearly. A smile appeared on his face as his lips curved into a happy grin. His face turned into a frown almost immediately as he wondered why he was overly happy to see her. He thought to himself that he sho

She attempted to lean in again, only to have him place a hand on her shoulder, keeping her at arm's length."Not tonight, Sophia," he said, causing her face to fall as he picked up her robe from the bed.Caleb walked back to Sophia and handed her the robe. "Put it on," he commanded, his voice firm yet calm."But—" Sophia began, but Caleb cut her off. "Just put it on, Sophia," he repeated, his tone more forceful this time, causing her to flinch.Reluctantly, Sophia took the robe from him and put it on, her forehead creased with frustration."I'm really tired. You should use the other room tonight," He stated, his words sounding like an order rather than a suggestion."But we always sleep together," Sophia protested, her fists clenched tightly. However, the seriousness in Caleb's expression made her think twice about arguing further."Okay," she conceded, forcing a smile. "Go

As she finished drying her hair, her phone began to ring, prompting her to pick it up to see who was calling. Noticing it was Chris, she answered the call promptly."Hey," Chris's calm and smooth voice greeted her as the call connected. "Are you settled in?""Yeah. Aurora just fell asleep," Ava responded, her gaze lingering on her daughter."I'm going out for lunch soon. Would you like to join me?""Sure. Just give me a minute to get dressed," Ava said, rising from the bed and walking towards the wardrobe to choose an outfit."Okay. I'll wait for you in the lobby," Chris replied before ending the call. After deciding on a simple casual outfit, Ava let her hair down and checked on Aurora once more before grabbing her bag and phone and leaving the room.Chris sat comfortably in the hotel lobby, his gaze fixed on his phone as he made necessary schedule changes for the upcoming movie shoot, scheduled in two days, while waiting for Ava to arrive. Finally, he caught a glimpse of her approac
