I headed inside and washed up, trying to scrub away the heaviness sitting in my chest.

Then I slipped into the black outfit — the one that clung to my hips and traced every curve I once believed could make Noah stay.

I dusted my skin with Cledbel powder, fixed my lashes, and sprayed myself with perfume — too much of it. I wanted to drown in the scent of someone who still mattered.

It took thirty minutes to become the woman I used to be. The woman Noah once desired.

Before leaving, my gaze drifted to the lipstick I’d bought weeks ago. I thought everything was about the shade didn't wear, so I got one hoping to catch his attention again. It hadn’t worked, but maybe tonight, it did need to.

I picked it up and glided the color across my lips, a trembling breath escaping me as I stared at my reflection.

I was beautiful. Still beautiful.

And yet, I’d been cheated on — told I was no longer enough. That my beauty had faded like old perfume.

A sharp exhale broke through me. I straightened, gr

At a point, a part of me wanted to turn back but the other overcame it. I stood in front of room 407, my hands scratching the card like the way the pain is eating me up. I glance at the lobby, checking if anyone was noticing me. It was all empty. No movement, only me, just Emma. I swallowed hard and leaned forward, scanning the pass card and the pad light green. I press the doorknob and swing the door open. His eyes darted as he saw me at the entrance. My jaw dropped the moment our gaze met. I remain close to the door, a flicker of guilt washing through me. But the next thing I know, my black dress has fallen to my knees, and I am naked except for my heel sandals. My nipples are painfully erect as he looks at me. His blue eyes take their sweet time ravaging my body.Fuck. He hasn't even touched me yet, but I'm already so wet. I step out of my dress, pulling off my heel sandal, and walk towards him. Before I could think, his lips came crashing down on mine. A soft moan escaped me

Bella’s call was a revival of hope for me — but a shattered one at the same time. She told me she’d been followed by her arrogant boyfriend the night I asked her to check on Noah. He trailed her all the way to the apartment I rented for her, ever since she agreed to help me. He threatened to expose her for spying on Isabella and even took the camera as proof. In the struggle to get it back, he beat her.She sent me her pictures the moment our call ended. My heart tightened seeing the bruises — her once lively face now pale, swollen, and painted with pain. But despite it all, she said she’d managed to build a bond with Isabella — close enough that Isabella had confided the secret of her affair with Noah.So this evening I was ironing clothes, Noah and William sat across each other in the living room. My phone buzzed and Bella’s name popped up the moment the screen light up. I picked it since there were ear pods in my ear. I waited for her to speak before saying anything but the voice t

“You said you could gather evidence, so what happened? It seems like you don't have what it takes to lead this war. At this rate, the divorce will hurt you more than it will benefit you.” Those were the lawyer's words when I gave him a hint about what just happened. He sounds completely angrier than me. Got annoyed over my fucking act. “Have you ever been betrayed by someone you loved?” My eyes widened in shock, causing me to glance at him then back to the slip in my hands. “Do you trust the man you married?” I didn't reply, pretending I didn't hear anything. This question shows my secret is out, known by everyone already. “The EKG and the endocrine function test results showed nothing unusual. And your allergy test… There was nothing unusual as well.” “So another dead end regarding my issues,” he mumbled. I leaned back, resting my back on the chair. “Rather than an internal illness, I'm guessing it's more psychological. Why don't you consult with a psychiatrist?” I a

I didn’t hear from Bella all night. My messages sat there — delivered, unread. The silence clawed at me. Sleep never came, and neither did Noah. By morning, my mind was a battlefield of what-ifs.“Dr Emma, I will see you in two weeks,” the old woman said as I escorted her out.“During that time, please be mindful of your diet,” I said as we approached her daughter, who seemed to have brought her here.“Thank you.”“You're welcome. Have a safe trip home.”I was about to turn when I heard a voice from the receptionist counter.“I'm here to see Dr. Emma. She's the associate director… oh there she is.”My jaw dropped when I took a turn as my gaze landed on Bella's arrogant boyfriend. His lips curled into a smile as his gaze landed on me. My mind raced for any possibility, pounding faster. He paced closer to me and sneered as if he had held some of my hidden secrets. “Shall we talk inside or out here?”I rolled my eyes then gestured with my hand. “Inside.”By the time we're in my office,

It’s already past 8 p.m., and Noah still isn’t home. Ever since he started cheating, he’s been stretching his hours — staying till 7, sometimes later. However, he used to leave the office by five.Even though I’m plotting his downfall, planning to take back everything that’s mine, including William and every penny in that account. I still feel the sharp sting of jealousy each time I picture him with her while I remain silent and try to endure it. But the pain of him now sleeping in Isabella's place is beyond control for me.I reached for my phone and texted Isabella.‘Please he hasn't been back home since. Can you please confirm his whereabouts?’I hit send the moment I finished typing.‘Give me ten minutes. I will check,’ she replied instantly as my message dropped. Twenty minutes passed. Then thirty. No reply from Bella. Each call went unanswered, each ring stretching like a thread about to snap.Terror is eating me up already. It felt like my chest was shrinking from the inside. I
