The hallway was eerily quiet, painted in muted grays and the faint hum of machines humming in the background. The sun hadn’t fully risen yet, but Margaret Kingston was already up, her hair slightly scattered and her hands wrapped around a paper cup of her coffee that had since gone cold.

She had barely slept, even blinked through the night.

She couldn't, not when her son was there battling for his life.

Moments later, Raina stirred on the couch beside her. She sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes.

Margaret didn’t look at her. Her eyes were fixed down the hallway, toward the ICU.

Raina stood up at once, noticing the state Margaret was in.

She gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Let’s go check on him,” she said quietly.

Margaret gave a short nod, and the two women walked down the hall in silence. As they reached Aaron’s room, they found the doctor standing outside, reviewing a chart on his tablet. He glanced up at them with a somber expression.

Margaret’s chest tightened. “Doctor?”

The sterile white walls felt like they were closing in on Raina and Margaret.Every passing second felt like they were closer and closer to finally loosing Aaron.Just wrhn they thought he was going to be alright, that doctor… that man.. Stabbed him!Margaret sat stiffly on the plastic chair, her hands clenched so tightly around her handbag that her knuckles had turned white. Beside her, Raina paced the floor restlessly, her heels clicking sharply against the tiles, her arms folded over her chest like they were the only thing holding her together.Every time a nurse walked past her, Raina’s head would jerk toward them, maybe hoping that they were approaching them with good news about Aaron. It had been hours since Aaron was wheeled into emergency surgery after he was stabbed. The last thing either of them had heard was that he’d lost too much blood, and even the doctors didn’t sound so confident about his chances. But still, they had to believe he was going to make it.Then—finally—th

Flashbulbs exploded in bursts of white light as Lucas Kingston stepped out of the sleek black Mercedes-Benz.He was dressed in a sharp tailored tuxedo, he exuded that calm and controlled elegance the public had come to expect from him.His wife, Tris, followed closely behind, her silver gown trailing behind her.She moved with her elegance that commanded her fair share of attention. They barely had a moment to pose before the questions came towards them like darts.“Mr. Kingston! Over here… how’s your brother?”“Are rumors true that he's been unconscious for two days now?”“Is Aaron awake yet? Can you give us a statement?”“Sources say alcohol was involved.. was he drinking and driving before the crash?”That was a lie!But Lucas didn’t flinch. His face remained expressionless and unreadable, giving away nothing to the journalist. He held Tris’ hand tighter, leading her forward with that authority of his, refusing to acknowledge the storm of speculation swirling around them.Tris gav

The meeting room smelled of expensive whiskey and power.Giovanni Cingarette sat comfortably on the edge of one of Kingston’s antique leather chairs, keeping his legs crossed and his hands steepled over his knee. His silver cufflinks gleamed, matching the cold glint in his eyes.He wore his usual dark suit, tailored to perfection, with a blood-red pocket square that screamed menace in silence.Across from him, Mr. Kingston stood, still silent, still unreadable. He studied Giovanni like a tiger eyeing a rival predator who'd dared step into his jungle.“I must say,” Giovanni began, voice smooth, almost charming, “this house hasn’t changed in years. You know? It still has that same scent since I was last here, even the same walls, that same… aura of invincibility.”He looked around slowly, almost wistfully, then met Kingston’s eyes with something harder behind his smile.“You’ve been on top for a long time, Kingston. Too long.”Mr. Kingston didn’t blink. “Get to the point.”Giovanni’s s

The door clicked shut behind Jessica, leaving only silence and the soft hum of machines.Lucas stood only him, in the same room as his brother who he's spent all his life competing against. But this here, it was more than just competition.Lucas stood by Aaron’s bedside, the faint light from the heart monitor flickering across his face.He looked down at his brother, the corners of his mouth twitching—not with anger, but with guilt. He pulled the nearby chair closer and sat down, elbows resting on his knees as he leaned forward, hands clasped tightly. For a long time, he said nothing. Then, in a voice barely above a whisper—“You know what’s funny?” He exhaled, staring at the floor. “All my life… I had everything.I've had the name, the best education… even the trust. The bloody silver spoon right from birth. And still…”He looked up at Aaron, eyes clouded with something raw and unfiltered. “Still, I was always looking at you.Even though everyone saw you as the screw-up, the rebel. T

The silence in the hospital’s hallway was louder now.Raina sat again, the fury she felt at seeing Jessica was now gone, it was replaced by a that suffocating feeling of dread and helplessness.Jessica leaned against the wall, her arms folded but eyes nervously trained on the ICU doors. Margaret stood closest to them, unmoving, her posture unnaturally stiff. Then the doors creaked open.A doctor in blue scrubs stepped out, pulling down his surgical mask.Margaret was the first to move. “Doctor?”He nodded, his voice calm, clinical—but not without a human edge.“Okay, we've done our final checks for todayHe’s still stable for now. But still unconscious. The internal bleeding has been stopped and we managed to stabilize his vitals. However... he hasn’t woken up yet. It’s too early to say if there’s any brain trauma, but for now—he’s holding on.”Everyone exhaled at once, like they'd all been suffocating in silence.“You can go in. One at a time. But keep it brief.”He stepped aside.Ma
