Anna’s pov

The man gently placed me back on the bed, "Are you hurt anywhere?"

he asked trying to check if he could see any physical injury.I shook my head, "am okay"

"You should have called a nurse to help you to the washroom, you are not strong yet to do things by yourself."

I looked up at him sheepishly and nodded my head in agreement.

I weakly smiled back at him and tried to sit up, but my body was unable to cooperate.

I fell back onto the bed, my face red with embarrassment.

Seeing me struggle, the handsome man immediately called for a nurse to come and check on me.

The nurse arrived promptly, she checked on my vitals before saying,

"Ma'am, the drugs we've given you are quite strong, that's why you are weak. You will be okay shortly,"

She said softly, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder.

“That would be great. Thank you.” The man replied with a smile. I noticed that the nurse blushed and looked away.

It came to me that this man in a suit is indeed very handsome,he is tall with a chiselled, muscular physique, his sun-kissed bronze skin complemented by rich, black hair and a hint of kindness and mischief in those piecing eyes.

His words brought me back to my senses,"You can leave if you are done. I need some quiet time with my wife," the man blurted out without stammering.

"My what?" I asked him, trying hard not to laugh.

"You are my wife. That's what everyone thought in this hospital, so I am playing my role well as a good husband that I am,"

he said without batting an eye.

"Hey charming, why do I feel you are using me to scare off other girls who are interested in you?"

“I brought you to this hospital and you've also solved my problem. That’s called reciprocity.” He pretended to frown but only for half a second then he laughed out.

I laughed out as well and after we chatted for a while, this man then busied himself on his laptop

He was engrossed in his work, typing away on his laptop with a look of intense concentration on his face.

But despite his focus, I couldn't help but notice how impeccably dressed he was.

From his tailored suit to his shiny dress shoes, every detail seemed to exude wealth and sophistication.

And then there were his features - his chiselled jawline, piercing blue eyes, and perfectly styled hair were a sight to behold.

It was no wonder that women were constantly drooling over him.

As a woman myself, I couldn't help but feel ashamed as I compared myself to this beautiful piece of work.

I was dressed in a hospital gown, with my hair tied back messily and no makeup on my face.

I must have looked like a complete mess next to him.

At that moment, the man looked up from his work and caught me staring. I quickly averted my gaze, feeling embarrassed.

But to my surprise, I saw a small smile on his face as he went back to his work.

I tried to focus on my thoughts, but I couldn't help but keep stealing glances at him.

"Tell me if you're done checking me out," he blurted out.

I was taken aback by his words, but I couldn't help but laugh. This man's mouth had no filter.

"Why has no family member visited you since you got admitted to the hospital except the maid?"

he asked, his tone suddenly serious.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I wanted to share my personal life with a stranger.

But something about him made me feel at ease.

"That's because I have no family." I replied honestly.

"Your husband? Because I heard the maid calling you Mrs. Johnson," he prodded further.

I felt a pang in my chest as memories of my ex-husband flooded back to me.

"I have no husband and I have no family?"

He looked up to see me curiously.

I handed over the divorce papers to him. and he read through it.

"He is willing to give you 10 million dollars and the mansion you lived in after divorce?" he asked.

"he must be rich."

"yes, but I don't want anything from him after the divorce," I said to the man.

I told him how he had chosen my sister over me and how I got into an accident has left me on the hospital bed.

"All I want is to be a better version of myself," I said to him.

"I like that but are you ready to take that step?"

"Yes, I am ready," I said to him with determination.

" You don't have money and a place to live so how are you going to do that."

I looked at my fingernails and a tear dropped from my eyes.

"I don't know?" I whispered.

The room was filled with tension as he spoke those words.

"Then be my wife," he said as if it was a business proposal. I was taken aback and didn't know how to respond.

"Excuse me?" I replied, hoping I had misheard him.
