Anna's POV
"Nurse, can you help me make a phone call?"I've been trying to reach my husband on the nurse's phone since the day I regained consciousness. However, he hasn't been willing to talk to me. The first time I called, he hung up as soon as he heard my voice.I tried calling again, and this time he answered on the first ring. "Hello Lucas, please don't hang up. I pleaded with him, "I've been in the hospital for four days now.""How does that concern me and What do you want me to do about that?" he asked, sounding angry."I lost the baby, Lucas," I said sadly. I heard silence as if he was affected. Then I heard him saying," Hahaha, that's the best news I've heard today."What?"At least the universe is working in my favour, don't you think?" he replied, sounding excited.I couldn't help but cry as I asked, "How could you be so cruel to an innocent child?""Stop being dramatic, Anna, and just sign those divorce papers. That's all I want from you now." "Never call me again until you're ready to hand over the signed divorce papers," he said, coldly.Only the click sound due to hanging up left.Feeling even more alone and disconnected, I decided to call her Lucy my maid."Mrs Johnson?" Lucy asked. I could hear the concern in her voice."Call me Anna."Lucy had been helping me clean the house, and I've grown to trust her."No, Mrs Johnson, I was worried about you. Your phone was switched off, and when I called Mr Johnson to ask about you, he hung up on me. I'm glad to hear from you," Lucy said excitedly.I felt a wave of sadness wash over me.I knew my husband didn't care much about me but hearing Lucy's words broke my heart all over again."Is everything okay?" Lucy asked, her voice full of concern.I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "I'm okay, Lucy," I said, forcing a smile."I just need a few things from home."I explained my situation to Lucy who felt more sad and I know she was crying while trying to sound casual on the phone."Lucy, can you come to the hospital along with a few personal belongings for me?"I asked, trying to keep my voice from shaking. I instructed Lucy on the things I needed and I couldn't help but feel a sense of betrayal.I had always been loyal to my husband, even when things weren't perfect between us.But now, I was starting to see that maybe things weren't what they seemed.**************************I stared blankly at the divorce papers that lay on the table beside the bed. my heart felt heavy as I reached out to pick up the papers, my hand trembling with emotion. As I read through the document, I felt a sharp pain in my chest, and tears started streaming down my face.I can't believe that my marriage to Lucas had come to this. We've been together for more than five years, and I thought we would be together forever. But now, it seemed like everything had fallen apart.I've lost everything, my kid my husband and my happiness, I've lost to her again. She has succeeded in taking that one thing that gives me joy.I looked up trying to hold back my tears but I couldn't, tears started streaming down my face. She couldn't hold them back any longer. I cried until my eyes were red and swollen,I cried till I had no more tears left to cry."Where did I go wrong?" I asked herself, my voice barely above a whisper. With a trembling hand, I took a pen from my bag and signed the divorce papers. It was like signing away a part of myself, a part of my life that I had hoped would last forever. But now, it is over, and I have to find a way to move on, and start my future all over. The thought of moving on scares me, I have nowhere to go and I don't have money. As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I knew to had to be strong. I have to pick her up and start over.I don't know how but I have to do it for myself.Feeling the need to freshen up, I decided to use the bathroom.it took me forever to get to the bathroom, I was weak but I didn't want to call the nurses for help.Returning to the hospital bed, I stumbled and fell to the ground. The fall left me feeling scared and helpless, but before I could cry out for help, a pair of strong, reassuring hands lifted me from the ground.I smelt the familiar cologne, i looked up, and my eyes met the most beautiful pair of eyes.A tall and handsome man standing over her, his face etched with concern.I recognized him as the same man who had been taking care of me since I woke up but I've not seen him in the past two days. That might sound ridiculous but at that moment, I really thought he had also abandoned me.Anna’s povThe man gently placed me back on the bed, "Are you hurt anywhere?" he asked trying to check if he could see any physical injury.I shook my head, "am okay" "You should have called a nurse to help you to the washroom, you are not strong yet to do things by yourself." I looked up at him sheepishly and nodded my head in agreement.I weakly smiled back at him and tried to sit up, but my body was unable to cooperate. I fell back onto the bed, my face red with embarrassment. Seeing me struggle, the handsome man immediately called for a nurse to come and check on me. The nurse arrived promptly, she checked on my vitals before saying, "Ma'am, the drugs we've given you are quite strong, that's why you are weak. You will be okay shortly," She said softly, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. “That would be great. Thank you.” The man replied with a smile. I noticed that the nurse blushed and looked away.It came to me that this man in a suit is indeed very handsome,he is tall
Anna’s pov"You heard me the first time," he replied firmly."I have the means to make you the better version of yourself and I also need a wife."I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "Why me?" I asked, trying to understand why he had chosen me for such an important role in his life. “I see that you don't lack in any department especially when it comes to women,am sure most women will do anything to be with you. So why do you want to marry a divorcee like me?”He looked at me intently before replying, ”you are my choice and the woman I want so don't compare yourself to others”"Marry me for a year, then after a year, we go our separate ways."His tone was cold and unemotional. "Why do you want to marry a woman you don't love?" I asked, unable to grasp the concept."To get my family off my back," he said with a hint of frustration in his voice. "My mum and grandmother are setting me up with different women every day, but I am not interested in any of them. The only way out is to ge
Anna's POV "We are going to be together for a year and we will live like a husband and a wife, but I will not force you to do anything you don't like," he said to me. "I will provide for you, and get you a job if you desire to work. You will attend business meetings with me if I ask you to," he added. "Are we going to sleep on the same bed?" I asked him. "Yes, but I will not force myself on you. I will gladly make love to you if you want me to," the man said with a smile on his face. "You wouldn't want your husband going about cheating with other women, would you?" His question shocked me. "What do you mean?" I asked him. "If you don't allow me to touch you, I will get it outside," he replied. I couldn't believe he said this to me. I wondered what I should do. I had nothing to lose if I accepted his proposal, but what if he treated me like my ex-husband did in the past? "I will give you a few hours to think about my proposal, as I mentioned earlier. You help me, and I'll help
HARVEY'S POVSix months back...."Ivan, I want to see you in my office in the next thirty minutes." I told the man before hanging up. I heard a knock on my office door and immediately knew it was the new secretary, Miss Lawson. Without raising my head to see her face, I asked, "What do you want, Miss Lawson?" "Sir, I brought you coffee," she said in a tone that sounded overly sweet.I looked up to see her standing there, and my gaze was met with a sight that made my blood boil. Her tight-fitting dress was more suited for a nightclub than a professional office, and her heavy makeup and curly brown hair made her look like she was trying too hard. I was disgusted by her lack of professionalism and her pretentious nature."I didn't ask for coffee, Miss Lawson," I said gruffly, trying to hide my annoyance. ""Sir, I was informed that you take your coffee early in the morning before starting work, so I prepared it for you," she said, her voice dripping with false sweetness. Her tone was
HARVEY'S POV Ivan burst into my office without knocking, his mind clearly preoccupied. He slumped into the sofa, his eyes fixed on the floor, and his shoulders slumped in defeat. "Do you have any good news for me?" I asked, my tone sharp with anticipation, but also laced with a hint of frustration.Ivan's face fell, his expression a picture of disappointment. "Nothing yet, sir. It's like searching for a needle in a haystack." He shook his head, his voice laced with frustration, and his eyes clouded with despair. "I've been searching for two years now, and every lead I follow ends up in a dead-end."Ivan had been working on this assignment for two years now, and I was growing tired of the same old excuses. I had hired him the woman of my dreams, the one whose name I dont even know and I was starting to lose hope. "Ivan, it's been two solid years, and all I get is the same old story. What am I paying you for?" I demanded, my patience wearing thin, and my voice rising in anger. The
Anna's povPresent day....."The doctor said you can be discharged today, am going downstairs to take care of the bills and paperwork for you discharged. get prepared, we are going home." After the Last word, he smiled warmly before leaving the room again. " What would have happened to me if not for the help of this man? no one not even my family has asked about me.Why did they hate me so much? They couldn't hide their hatred for me, they even proved that they didn't have a daughter called Anna.My thoughts swirled as I lay in the hospital bed, my mind racing with questions and emotions.I had been in the hospital for several days, and the doctor had finally given me the news she had been waiting for - that I could go home. But as I thought about my family, a mix of sadness and anger filled my heart. Why had they abandoned me? Why had they pretended I didn't exist? The pain of their rejection was still fresh, and I couldn't help but wonder what o had done to deserve such treatment
Anna's pov As I stepped out of the hospital room, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. Mr. Gorgeous, my new husband, had been by my side throughout my stay and I was grateful for his support and love. I had never been surrounded by loved ones in the hospital before, and the experience had been overwhelming, to say the least. But Mr. Gorgeous had been a rock for me, always there when I needed him most. However, as we made our way toward the exit, I couldn't help but notice the stares from the nurses. They were all looking in our direction, some even trying to talk to Mr. Gorgeous without acknowledging my presence as his wife. It was as if I was invisible as if I didn't exist. But he ignored them and held my hand protectively, which no one had ever done for me before. The man became a changed person from the moment we stepped out of the hospital room. He was as cold as ice, and I could see how distant he was from other people. It was strange to see this side of him, as he had always
Anna's pov As we continued to drive, I looked out the window and saw that we were approaching a gated community. It was called Riverview Estate, and I had heard rumors that only the wealthiest of people lived there. It belonged to a very powerful young man, or so the rumors went. This man must be extremely powerful to afford a place like this, I thought to myself. We drove through the gates and I couldn't help but gasp at the sight before me. The estate was absolutely stunning - beautifully manicured lawns, huge mansions with sprawling gardens, and a pristine lake at the center of it all. It was like something out of a fairy tale.As we pulled up to our own mansion, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was easily the biggest, most luxurious house I had ever seen. I felt like I was in a dream.Mr Knight helped me out of the car and led me inside. The interior was just as opulent as the exterior - marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and priceless works of art adorned every wall. It was lik
