Lazar’s POV

With Miriam fast asleep, it was the perfect opportunity to go to the warehouse house and investigate the bastard who had betrayed the family.

Everyone knew the consequences was death but none can predict when that death will come or how it will look like.

It's been quite some time since I gave in to my sinister side. To be honest I missed the thrill, the blood, the screams of agony as they begged for their lives, for the lives of their loved ones.

“Make sure nothing happens to her while I am away.” I ordered my chief of security who is in charge of keeping Miriam safe.

“Yes sir.” He replied.

I walked to my car and drove straight to the warehouse, ready to get the show started.

“Welcome boss.” My men bowed as I walked into the warehouse with a stoic expression on my face.

It was showtime and I could not be happier.

I walked into the dark basement where the man I had once trusted to drive me around was seated.

He was cuffed to the chair, his legs tied together to the chair, his face barely recognizable, with blood stains all over his face.

As soon as I walked in, he lifted his gaze to look at me. He was a dead man breathing and he knew this.

I grabbed the nearest chair by the table and sat down directly opposite him.

“So when did you start working for them?” I asked, I had a schedule to meet.

I need to go back to the apartment before Miriam wakes up.

But instead of the bastard to talk he only spat at my face, irritating me further.

“Xander I am sure you know the drill. The quicker you talk, the quicker it ends, saving both of us from pain and anguish. But if you insist on wasting my time which is very limited as I have somewhere to go, then it is not going to look very pretty for you.” I explained.

I could see the moment fear slashed across his eyes. Good now he knew I meant business.

“Now, I won't repeat myself again. When did you start working for the Russians?”

“Six months ago.” He answered and the sound of the typewriter filled the air.

The secretariat was recording his confess as evidence for documentation.

“What did they ask you to do for them?” I asked.

“To spy on you.” He answered.

“Just on me?”

“Yes.”

“So what did you give them?”

He stayed silent, and with the look in his eyes. He was most probably wondering what I was going to do to him.

I slowly stood up from my chair and approached the table at the corner of the room filled with different types of torture weapon.

But my favourite has always been the pliers.

It was small but very efficient and I don't need too much blood on me right now, so it will have to suffice.

Without saying a word I approached the traitor whose eyes were shaking with fear.

I don't know why they keep craving the pain and anguish before they die when they could just choose a bullet to the head and end it all.

He balled his palm to a fist but I knew my target. I grabbed his hand and forced it open.

“Are you going to talk or would you like things to get messy.?” I asked giving him one last chance to save himself from agonizing pain.

But just like I expected he kept his mouth shut.

I grabbed his hand and chopped off one of his fingers with the pliers, it was not a pretty sight but the loud scream of agony from his lips made me bask in pleasure.

“I will talk, I will talk.” He gasped out, blood dripping down his chopped finger, his eyes blood shot read and seat all over his forehead.

“I am all ears.”

“I tell them everything about the meetup with allies and I also told them about the girl you have been interested in. They wanted me to find out more about her.” He explained.

From his explanation I knew he had no idea about how deep my relationship with Miriam was.

“Is that all?” I asked, watching his expression.

“Yes.” He answered with a defeated tone.

He knew what was coming next.

“I am a man who keeps his word but you messed with my woman. Your death won't be as easy as you expected.” I said and with that I stood up and glanced at Rodosov who understood what I meant without saying a word.

Xander came after my woman, a gun shot to the head was mercy, one I was not in the mood to give.

I need to set an example and he will be my scape goat.

The loud screams and pleading filled the basement.

“Bastard, you will die miserably Lazar.” Xander screamed while I walked away.

I stood outside the warehouse and lit a cigarette and soon after Rodosov walked out. His shirt was slightly bloodied and he did not look too happy about that.

“Bastard tried to put up a fight.” Rodosov cursed under his breath as he cleaned his hand.

“What should we do with the body?” He asked standing beside me and as he lit his own cigarette.

“Dispose it in the creek close to the Russian territory.” I answered, walked to my car and drove away.

It was already getting dark and I knew Miriam would be awake soon.

But as soon as I drove down the block I noticed something was wrong with Miriam's apartment building. The top floor was on fire.

I packed my car and rushed to the back entrance and noticed that my men were laying on the ground unconscious, most probably dead although there was no blood anywhere.

My heart stopped for a second.

“Miriam.”

I rushed up the stairs, quickly texting Rodosov to get some men down to the apartment and investigate what happened to the guards I placed to protect Miriam and also in case I needed backup.

I burst through the door and there she was standing in all her glory. She was okay.

I quickly scanned the room and noticed nothing was amiss except the loud noise of the fire alarm.

Getting her out of this apartment and far away from this building was my topmost priority.

I only sighed in relief as soon as we drove down to my condo.

But then it struck me.

She was already suspicious about the Rolls Royce I was driving. How will I explain the condo to her?
