Chapter 12

My birthday was tomorrow, we had decided to keep it low key. Especially after all the dramas but I was still praying my knight would turn up and reveal his identity.

Christie was going to buy some drinks while Julian and his boyfriend made a small selection of food and snacks and a couple of my college and work friends were going to come round for a hopefully quiet but fun evening.

I had been so closed off from the world. It felt like I had missed all the news. There were rumours about the special patient being someone from the alpha family although no one recognised any of the patients to be anyone special, there were rumours about Alpha Damon being distant from home (my guess is hiding out with a female wolf as he’s meant to be a huge womaniser), and more rumours about a valedictorian already been picked for our graduation at the end of the year.

I think the valedictorian news upset me in particular because it’s something I had been aiming towards. For the past three years I have been putting all my effort into being the best student and getting the best marks. For someone to have been picked so early it would usually mean the alpha has had a say in the choice.. That doesn’t mean it’s the right choice, but it does mean that they are going to be a special part of the pack.

All the conversations seemed to move onto Damon, thankfully I’m not dating his Beta anymore but still surly this guys isn’t all the things they say!

So far, I have heard that he has slept with over 200 Shewolves, killed over 100 people, caused territorial wars for others packs and the he’s the most ruthless future Alpha to date.

How can any of this be true when our current alpha is so compassionate, calm and fair. I have no idea whether any of these stories are real but if they are, I worry for the future of the pack.

What if he picks an awful Luna, one of his conquests that is cruel, unjust and self absorbed.

A Luna should be caring, understanding and she should help when guiding a good Alpha. What was to become of us if our Alpha was all the crazy stories.

The thought wasn’t one to worry about for now, I just needed to enjoy my birthday and relax with my friends.

As the evening went on we were singing and dancing in the living room, some were playing beer pong in the kitchen and my quiet drinks were turning more into a loud party but I was absolutely loving it. I was walking to the door after the bell rang only Julian beat me to it.

As he stepped away from the door smiling, holing a large box I was curious. “My Love, My Mate, My future!” Julian said out loud as he walked to me and handed over the well wrapped gift.

He had read the words on the tag, instantly I knew my Black wolf knows where I live! He’s been here, before I even thought about opening the gift I ran to the door hoping to get a glimpse of my mate. But as usual I was too slow.

I sat on my sofa with my gift and everyone started to gather around like it was a show, when I removed the lid the first thing I saw was a card which I opened and read out loud which made me very embarrassed.

“My love, my mate, my future. I have been watching you from afar waiting for the right time to reveal myself, however for now my love I will remain a mystery. Since the first moment I caught your scent and saw your face I was hooked. Nothing could have ever prepared me for the amount of love I could feel for 1 person. Seeing you injured hurt a lot, but seeing your resilience as you pushed through this difficult recovery makes me proud. Our love will be one people cooo over for years, they will wish they could be loved like I will love you. There will be nothing you could wish for, nothing that your heart desires that I wouldn’t get for you and there will no no one brave enough to ever hurt you again.” I was crying at the sweet note, “my love although I’m your mystery, you I know all about. You deserve the world and more. For now here are a few small tokens of my love, enjoy and until we are together just know you are safe and loved.”
