Penelope’s pov

We were called out for dinner, and everyone excitedly walked out of their rooms, chattering loudly. I rubbed my arms as I walked out too. I missed Lena. If she were to be here, I would have been chatting with her the way everyone was doing.

Since the summit was till tomorrow, we had some time to spend. This dinner was to get all of us acquainted with each other and with people from the other schools. I wasn’t looking to make new friends, but I wanted to meet new people.

Penelope’s povThen it dawned on me. They didn’t want me at all. All they wanted was the thing from my father. This made me even more confused. What was it? And why was I still here? Maybe I had even made a bad decision by telling him not to listen to them.I was confused at this moment. Didn’t they say they just wanted my father to cooperate with them? So I tried to think of a plan. I walked around the room. I looked up and saw a surveillance camera. Then I crouched to the ground. It was useless. With the camera, they could monitor my every move. So there was no point of escape for me. But it was better to try than to remain here in this hole without any way forward.I dragged the chair to the window and climbed on it. I looked outside and was shocked to see that I was really high up. I didn’t remember us going through any elevator or through the stairs, so I wondered how we got up here.I had to plan my escape. I heard footsteps and thought that they had seen me through the camera.

Penelope’s povI watched as the girl’s eyes widened.“No,” she cried. “I’m not behind this.”“Then why are you here? Who is behind this, if not you? How did you know that I was here?”She came close to me and tried to hold my hand, but I was not having it. I backed away from her.“Tell me what I asked you,” I said. She sighed. “I am just trying to help you escape.”Now I was confused. “Help me escape? Why would you do that?”“I’m sorry for barging in and startling you like that. I had to sneak in. My name is Catherine. And I’m the heiress of a Woodrich corp. And it’s my father who has you kidnapped.”My eyes widened in horror. “What? Your father? I don’t understand. I’m not the daughter of some rich man, so why has your father done this to me?”Now she had gotten to me and held my hand. “Because your father knows a secret and will not sell it out to my father. So they want to use force to collect it.”I was confused. “I don’t understand. One minute the girls from the school were abduc

Penelope’s povI yelled as I was being carted away.“Please stop this. Who are you? What are you doing?”And I didn’t hear anything. I continued. “Is this like some sick joke or something? Do you guys need money, or are you trying to play some silly pranks?”Then I heard several footsteps. Everyone kept running about, and this added to my confusion because it meant that so many people were involved in this.“Why won’t you people let me go?” I screamed. And soon, I was dragged somewhere. I heard them kick the door open, and they shoved me onto a chair. The moment the bag came off my face, I could see the faces of my abductors. They were the girls from the other school. But before I could speak, they shoved a piece of cloth into my mouth.“How dare you disrespect Miss Bancroft like that?” one of them sneered at me.So I could speak, she removed the cloth from my mouth.“Maddie?” I asked in confusion. “Did she send you here?”“Shut up,” another girl said, grabbing my hair. “Miss Bancroft

Penelope’s povI woke up with a start. My head was aching so bad. It felt as if I hit it on the spot countless times. I looked around me and realized that I was sleeping on a couch. No wonder my body ached me severely. And then I realized it was Sebastian’s couch. Suddenly, images of last night came flashing through my head. How Sebastian spoke to me after helping me. How he made me feel like I was nothing and remembered to put me in my place. My hatred for him intensified. I glanced at him sleeping soundly on the bed. How inconsiderate. Last night, he had insisted that I stay in his room and wouldn’t let me have the bed. He said he wasn’t stopping me from having the bed, but if I wanted to sleep on the bed, I would have to be beside him.And there was no way in hell that I would be sharing a bed with Sebastian Vanderbilt. After all, I wasn’t in his league. I stood up from the couch, ignoring the strain in my muscles. I should wake him for the summit, but I decided to leave without le

Penelope’s povHis eyes narrowed at me. “What exactly are you asking me? Penelope, can’t you see what is going on? They are looking for you.”I was frustrated. “I can see that, but why are they looking for me?”He shrugged. “How would I know?”I glared at him. “Didn’t you come to lure me away because you knew they would be here?”“Hmm,” he said.“So how did you know then?”“You are too stupid,” he said. “Knowing Madeleine now, you should realize that she would do everything in her power to show these girls that you are beneath them.”“But why? If there’s something you know that I do not? Why is she doing this to me?”He shrugged. “I don’t know. But if they had found you in the pool today, they would have probably stripped you, taken your picture, and posted it online.”I gasped. “They would never stoop that low.”He scoffed. “Suit yourself.”One of the girls called Madeleine. “Maybe we should go to her room.”“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” another girl asked.“Yes, it is,” Madelei

In fact, I was the second person to take a seat. A girl, the first, sat at the other end, biting her bottom lip. She looked shy, and I couldn’t understand why. So I ignored her. It was better not to poke nose in other people’s affairs.Soon, everyone was seated, and as usual, Madeleine wanted to control the table. Fair enough. Many of the students from the other school wanted to meet the heiress. One of the girls spoke to her.“You are Madeleine Bancroft, right?”Madeleine gave her a sweet
