EPILOGUE

SCOT

SIX MONTHS LATER

I could feel the wind in my face and the harsh glare of the sun on my skin. I inhaled, sighing at how content and fulfilled I felt with the woman in my arms.

It has been six months since everything went down… six months since my life changed for the better and since I realized I would live and die for the woman I held in my arms.

We had gone on this holiday after cutting all her ties with the clan and bidding them farewell. She was no longer with that life and the danger it entailed.

She had no idea of course about everything I had planned for today and I could not wait to see the look on her face when she realizes that I am going to ask her today to complete me for as long as the world and our lives continue.

I turned to the left, to the man holding the signal and he winked in my direction to let me know that everything was in place and it was time for the commotion.

“Hey baby” I whispered in her ear, feeling her stir and open her eyes.

“I think that asshole is ogling you” I told her, pointing at the guy who was making it a point to eye her.

She stared at him for a little longer than necessary before she got to her feet and I did too.

The plan was for me to try and defend her dignity and for her to try and stop me right before I pull out the ring.

I however should have realized that it would never go according to plan with a woman like Catalina.

“Hey asshole” She called out to the guy while I tried to stop her in her stride.

“How dare you stare at me in…”

Before I had the chance to stop her right there, she planted her fist in the man’s face.

“Catalina… stop please” I put out one hand, turning her to myself.

Her eyes flashed and it was then I pulled the ring out of my pocket.

“Marry me, Catalina Vega” I murmured, holding the close box up in her face.

I saw the light leave her eyes followed by the swelling of tears.

“What the hell?” She whispered, pulling away from me.

I got to one knee, flipping the box open.

“I have always wanted someone who matched me both emotionally and intellectually, Catalina but you… you surpass me in every way and I cannot think about anyone I would love to spend eternity with, Mia dolcezza” I struggled on the last word while she laughed.

“I love you so much, please marry me” I murmured.

She put out a hand, allowing me put the ring on her finger.

“I will marry you, Scot and I love you more than you can ever imagine” She muttered a few curse words in Italian before she collapsed on both knees, wrapping her arms around me.

“Cheers to forever?” I murmured, my throat clogging up.

“Cheers to forever” She concurred.

I waved to the man behind us, expressing my sympathy that the plan had been ruined but I could not think of a better way to ask her to be my wife.

I touched the beautiful tresses of her hair, marveling at how we had met at some dingy bar with her thoughts being only of revenge.

My lips touched hers in reverence, sealing our lives and our love until the end of time.
