Chapter 72

The house hummed with the distant echoes of laughter and music, but Andreas felt an emptiness settling in his chest as he walked briskly down the hallway, each step heavier than the last.

His son’s words, “Dad, it’s a gift from Sofia!”, replayed over and over in his mind like a haunting melody, pulling him further into a storm of confusion and longing.

His pulse quickened as he passed through the living room, not realizing his mother had been calling his name until she used his full name, sharp and commanding.

“Andreas Mateo Leonardo…!”

He froze mid-step, the imaginary world around him fading for a heartbeat. His thoughts raced back to the present, and he turned slowly to face her, offering a forced smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

“Oh, Mum,” he said, trying to sound casual, but the words felt hollow in his throat.

She chuckled lightly, though the concern in her gaze was unmistakable. “Goodness! Where are you off to in such a hurry? You didn’t even hear me call you

Chapter 84Mia's heart slammed against her chest as she bolted toward the poolside, the scream still echoing in her ears like a warning bell. Her heels clicked violently against the pavement, and the June sun overhead was suddenly too bright, the air too still. Her breath came in quick, shallow bursts as she rounded the corner, only to stop dead in her tracks. Her jaw dropped. There was no emergency.Instead, what lay before her was something out of a dream. The pool had been transformed, the surface now covered in a flawless, glass-like platform that shimmered like water frozen in time. Beneath the surface, gentle lighting glowed in soft purples and golds, casting an ethereal luminescence that turned the midday light into magic. Flower petals were scattered across the platform, forming a delicate path that stretched from where she stood to the far side where Andreas waited. He stood like a dream. A vision Dressed in a crisp white shirt with the sleeves folded just above his elbows a

  • FALLING FOR THE FORBIDDEN STAR    83: Mended Bridges

Chapter 83The morning sun filtered softly through the tinted windows of Mia’s car as she drove through the sleepy streets, her fingers clutching the steering wheel a little too tightly. Her mind wandered back to the early hours, to the warmth of Andreas's arms still lingering in her bones, and the tremble in his voice when he told her, "You should go see her. You both should talk things out. She deserves that."Mia had looked up at him then, her face tucked into his neck, her voice small and thick with guilt. "You really think she'll forgive me?""You never gave her a reason not to," he whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "You were just scared. She’ll understand. Go. Make things right."And she had. After breakfast, she'd kissed Sofia goodbye and hugged her mother, who gave her a knowing look but said nothing. Now, with the engine humming beneath her and the scent of morning dew hanging in the air, she turned onto Susan's quiet suburban street, her heart pounding.Susan's hou

Chapter 82Mia didn’t remember moving. One moment, she was staring at the man who haunted her dreams for five long years, and the next, she was in his arms. Her body collided against Andreas’s chest with such sudden desperation, she could barely breathe through the flood of emotions. Her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, her fingers digging into the fabric of his shirt like she was afraid he might vanish if she let go.A sob broke free from her chest.Andreas’s arms closed around her without hesitation, strong and warm, pulling her closer, anchoring her to the only place that had ever felt like home. His own chest trembled beneath her as his breath hitched, and when she lifted her head to look up at him, she found tears glistening in his eyes."Shh... I'm here," he murmured into her hair, pressing a kiss to the crown of her head. "I'm here now. I’ve got you."Mia buried her face against him again, her body shaking as she cried. Years of solitude, of pretending, of being strong for

Chapter 81Andreas had never been a fan of chaos, but that day, in the middle of confetti, plastic cups, and Brian's football-themed birthday cake smeared across half the kitchen counter, he found the quietest storm of all hidden in the smallest gesture, Sofia’s birthday card to Brian. It was almost too easy to miss. Amid the bright scribbles and glitter glue, tucked into the crease of the folded paper, was a faint line of ink. At first glance, it seemed like just another smudge from a teenager's overenthusiastic coloring. But something told Andreas to look closer. His heart stuttered when he realized what it was: a phone number. Lightly scribbled, nearly invisible, like a secret waiting to be found by the right eyes. He glanced up immediately, scanning the compound. Tania was distracted, laughing too loudly at some joke someone told. Brian was running around with his friends, showing off his gifts to everyone with the charm of a future team captain.Andreas slipped the card under his

Chapter 80Mia stood frozen in the doorway, Sofia’s arms still wrapped tightly around her. The warm embrace felt like a balm to the aching hole in her chest that she hadn’t even realized was there, until now. Her daughter, her smart, beautiful daughter, was her anchor in a storm of chaos. The tears that had been threatening to fall all night now slipped down her cheek in silent surrender. She quickly wiped them away, but Sofia noticed. Of course, Sofia noticed. She always did. The teen's soft eyes searched Mia’s face, concern etched across her features."Mom, are you okay?" Sofia asked, her voice a quiet whisper, yet so full of care that it pierced Mia’s heart."I'm fine, baby," Mia replied quickly, brushing it off with a strained smile, though her chest felt like it might crack from the weight of everything she'd been holding in. "I’m just glad you're here."Sofia nodded, but Mia could see the doubt flicker behind her eyes. She didn’t push further, though. Instead, she stepped inside

"What are you talking about, Mia?" Her brow furrowed in genuine confusion, but Mia wasn’t looking for answers, she was already unraveling.Mia stood, shoulders tense, lips trembling with the sting of Lucas’s whispered words still ringing in her ears. "Don’t play dumb, Susan. You knew. You knew Lucas snuck backstage while you conveniently put everyone outside! You were acting strange the entire time! Before I got on stage, you had this nervous look. Was it because of him?"Susan took a hesitant step forward, eyes widening. "Wait, wait, what are you saying? That I... let Lucas in here? On purpose?""Don't deny it!" Mia snapped, her voice rising with every breath. "Your face said everything. I saw it. That nervous look before I stepped on stage
