Ella’s POV

I woke up feeling a little different the next morning– the numbness in my head is completely gone– replaced by anger, pure and raw against Damon, against the ones who had hurt me.

I should have known, I mean did I really expect Damon to choose me of all the girls in school. I guess Sera was the better choice, the one that could match his high end reputation.

I got into the shower and took my bath, then got myself dressed up for school. I wasn't all that confident about what the day would be like but I knew I had to chose me. I couldn't continue hiding myself away, not when it could cost me my future.

I dragged myself down the stairs as I made my way to the living room. The sweet smell of roasting bacon filled my nostrils as I came down.

“Ella.” Mum called noticing me. “Are you okay?” She asked cupping my swollen cheeks as she stared at me with such tenderliness.

“I'm fine. I'm just… off to school.” I replied removing the stray strand of hair that fell over my face. A shiver ran through my spine as I said that word.

“Are you sure? Honey you don't have to.” She objected.

“I have to mum, besides he is not worth it.” I repeated her own words against her. I swear I had heard it replaying over and over in my head while I slept last night. Like a chant, it refused to go.

“Are you sure about this?”

“I'm certain.” I nodded.

“I would drive you sweetheart.” She offered.

“You don't have to, I can get there myself. I also have to do this for me and having you there would ruin that image.” I bit my lip. “I mean, not that you're going to ruin my image. I'm just saying I can do this alone.” I told her before backing out of the house.

Mum followed and closed the door behind me, I finally turned around when I reached out porch. Making my way to school, I should be taking the school bus, I usually took the bus but today, I was running late and the bus would have left.

I also didn't want to take a taxi, the last thing I wanted was to be stuck in a single place sniffing in the scent of fuel after everything I had gone through this week.

Twenty minutes later, as I walked past the school gates. The whole place became eerily quite for a second at least, and then the whispers started.

“Oh my god, look at that.”

“Oh she's back.”

“I was hoping she would stay away for a year.”

“Fatty.” That wasn't a whisper, I'm sure whoever said it meant for me to hear it. I didn't linger much because I wasn't going to stay and listen as they spat all sorts of words at me.

I kept my head high, as I walked past the whisperers into the entrance. My vision got blurred when I didn't blink for too long. My eyelids fluttered on their own Accord and my vision returned to normal. I made my way to my locker, punched in my password and opened it. I dumped my bag in and took out the books I needed for today.

In that moment, something slammed against my face, I was able to duck it due to my not-so-fast reflexes.

“Well, hello there, must be feeling new.” I came face to face with Sera, flanked by Tessa who was laughing at her joke, another very popular cheerleader.

“Please leave.” I said flatly. I wasn't built for a fight today especially not with someone like Sera.

“Or what? You're going to sit on me?” She taunted.

“Sounds like a nice idea.” Tessa joined in an they both bursted into laughter. I tried to side-step them but Sera pulled me back by the hair.

“I'm still talking to you, piece of shit.”

“Let go!” I almost let out a growl but managed to suppress it as a low sound. My wolf was swirling within me.

“Oh I would but first, you got to learn to keep your hands off Damon. He is mine and the only place he is ever going to pick a girl like you over me is in your dreams.” She said as brushed past me.

Tessa did the same and she was harder than Sera, knocking my books off with her weight. The sounds of their footsteps faded away as I bent down to pick up my books.

I heard another set of voices, male and footsteps, heavy. I looked up and spotted Principal Brandon walking alongside a new student.

“Ella, you're back.” He called noticing me. “I trust you're feeling better.”

“Yes, Principal Brandon.” I nodded . My gaze shifted to the student beside him, my breath caught staring at him.

“This is Kael Thorne, transfer student and Mr. Thorne, Elara Blackwood, she is one of our best students and a promising senior.” My eyes didn't leave him as the principal introduced us.

“Ella, I'm sure you can take him on a tour of the whole school. Please excuse me.” None of us broke the silence after the principal left until my wolf decide to say the word .

“Mate.”

Damon's POVI know a lot of things my sister Delilah doesn't like. She doesn't like the way our parents treat me better than her. She doesn't like how easily things come to me while she has to fight for attention. She doesn't like that our father listens when I speak but barely notices when she does. She doesn't like that I am the favorite. And honestly, I hate it too.Not because I enjoy being miserable. Not because I want to complain about having things easier. But because I see what it does to her. I see the way disappointment settles in her eyes every single time our parents choose me over her without even realizing it.I hate seeing my younger sister unhappy.I hate the way her smile disappears whenever our father praises me for something simple. I hate the way she quietly leaves the room when our mother starts talking about my future like I am the only child she has. I hate the bitterness she tries so hard to hide. But what am I supposed to do about it?I didn't ask for any of t

Ella's POV"What do you mean you've changed your mind? This guy's father killed your father. Have you forgotten that?"Delilah's voice snapped through the phone. Sharp. Urgent. Like everything depended on my answer.I had called her to tell her I wasn't interested in dealing with Kael anymore. Not the way she wanted. Not the way we had planned. But she wasn't taking it well."What if it's not his father?" I said, walking around my room. "What if my mom got it all wrong?"I had been thinking about it since i came back from school. Tossing and turning. Going over every word my mother said. I believe Thorne killed him. She said believe. Not know. Not I'm sure. She said believe. That word had been sitting in my chest like a stone."No, Ella. It is his father. Your mom was not wrong." Delilah's voice was getting louder. "Are you telling me your mom doesn't know who killed her late husband?"I let out a loud breath. My head was pounding."Ella, there is a reason why fate brought you and Kae

Delilah's POV"Kael."Ella suddenly mentioned his name while we sat in the cafeteria eating lunch.I looked up immediately from my tray. "Kael? What happened to him?"The moment I saw her face, I knew something was wrong.Ella was breathing too hard. Her chest rose and fell quickly like she had been running. Her fingers trembled around the plastic fork she held, and her eyes looked distant, unfocused.Fear.Anger.Confusion.All of it was written clearly across her face."I asked my mom about who was responsible for the death of my father," she finally said quietly. My heart jumped."Really?" I interrupted before I could stop myself."Yes, I did," Ella replied with a small nod. "And my mom believes that Kael's father killed him."For a second, I forgot how to breathe. That wasn't what my parents told me.Ever since I was little, I had heard the same story over and over again. Alpha Ragnar was responsible for Lucian's death. He wanted power. He wanted the alpha title. He wanted Moonrid

Ella's POV"No, I can't do that. I can't take his life even though I have the chance," I replied to Delilah. We were sitting in the bleachers, watching the hockey team practice. Kael and Damon were on the ice, moving fast across the frozen surface like they were born there. Their skates cut sharp lines into the ice while the sound of sticks hitting pucks echoed through the arena. Cold air brushed against my face, but somehow it didn't bother me.Delilah had just asked me something insane. She wanted me to kill someone. Not just hurt someone. Not scare them. Kill them. And the scary part was how calm she sounded while saying it. Like she was talking about the weather instead of someone's life. She claimed it would unlock something inside me which my mom also said. "Why?" Delilah asked softly. Her voice was smooth. Too smooth. "Doing this comes with a lot of benefits. You unlock the witch in you. You become an alpha. You rule this pack."I turned to stare at her properly."Become an al

Delilah’s POVI am so sure my parents don’t have any real plans for me.Not real ones. Not the kind that matter. Not like they have for Damon.Everything has always been about him. Every expectation. Every conversation. Every future they imagine for this family somehow leads back to Damon standing at the center of it all. Strong. Powerful. Chosen.Perfect.They believe in him in a way they have never believed in me. Not once. Not even when I tried. Not even when I did everything right. To them, Damon is the future. The one who will raise our family. The one who will lead the pack. The one who will bring power, status, respect. The only one who matters. And me?I exist in the background. Useful when needed. Invisible when not.“So it’s true? You two are dating?”My mother’s voice cut through my thoughts the moment I stepped back inside.I had just escorted Ella out.Carefully.Deliberately.My hand had rested on her waist as we walked through the living room. A small touch. Casual to a

Ella's POVNow it is not about avoiding Kael and Damon anymore. Because avoiding them doesn't change what would happen. It doesn't stop the clock from ticking. It doesn't rewrite the script. What matters now is who lives and who dies in this written script of life. A script I never agreed to. A script that feels like it was written long before I was even born. Every second feels heavier now, like time itself is watching me, waiting to see what choice I will make."We can't die, Ella. I don't want to die," my wolf said. Her voice was shaking. I had never heard her scared before. Angry, yes. Fierce, yes. But never scared. Her fear crawled into me, settled deep in my chest, tightening everything."No one is dying, girl. Be calm," I said. But I was lying. I had been panicking since last night. Since my mom dropped that bomb in the kitchen. Since she said one of us has to die. Since the way her eyes looked, serious, certain, like there was no way out."Don't you understand what Mom said?"
