Chapter 16: A FORCED AGREEMENT

Anna POV… .

“Drop the call” he repeated but I wasn’t having it too, why is he being such a pain in the ass? He is becoming more annoying and authoritative by the day. What exactly does he think he is? Does he think I will remain his slave simple because he saved my life.

“I am not going to drop the call, I am speaking with my best friend, deal with it” I laced out in anger, I think this is the right time I stand up to him, I can’t continue giving him an upper hand.

I watched as he turned to me in surprise, maybe he didn’t expect I would speak to him that way, he wanted me to remain submissive and does whatever he wants.

“What is going on, Anna, are you in any kind of trouble” Eva voice resounded from the other end and I tried to put everything under control.

“Don’t worry, Eva. Remain on the call, don’t end it” I replied with all confidence.

“Don’t you dare test my patience, you would regret it” Damien voice was filled with rage now as he spoke bu

Chapter 30: A ClueAnna POV… .Then, instinctively, my gaze shifted once more to Louis—just as he reached the top of the stairs. That’s when I saw it—A sly smile playing on his lips.“I told you, he is Louis! He just gave me that disgusting smile that never leaves his face,” the words escaped my lips before I could stop them.A hand gripped me tightly, pulling me back, stopping me from getting anywhere near Louis.I struggled, fought hard against the grip—but I couldn’t break free. I was losing the fight. I was giving up.“Confess already, Louis! I know it’s you. Why are you making things so difficult?” My voice shook with tension, my emotions tangled with desire and frustration.“You’re accusing me just because I smiled?” Louis said, his voice calm, almost too calm. “I still want to be friends. That was just a friendly smile.”He looked genuinely sad, his eyes heavy with regret. “I really am sorry for the inconvenience I’m causing in your life right now. I promise, I didn’t mean a

Chapter 29: A Sly Smile I stood up from the floor, shame weighing heavily on me. No help was coming. No one had come to assist me, even after I waited there for what felt like minutes.I had expected Mrs. Evelyn to come comfort me, maybe even apologize for leaving me behind—but she didn’t dare.I was left there like a piece of trash.I dusted off my clothes, even though they weren’t stained or dirty. The floor was clean—neat and sparkling.Slowly, I ascended the stairs, my limbs tired and weak. I just needed a little rest to recharge. What I truly needed was a long, uninterrupted rest in my room. A quiet space to think clearly and breathe again. As I climbed, a thought suddenly flashed through my mind:“Just run away, and you’ll be free from all this pain and torment.”I nodded to myself, taking the thought to heart. Maybe that was the best thing to do.I didn’t think I was strong enough to carry this weight any longer. It was draining me—faster than I’d expected.I glanced around

Chapter 28: Am I the wrong one?I walked into the dining room with Harper. She took a seat, and I took mine.“You two wasted an eternity outside,” Mrs. Evelyn’s voice sliced through the room—calm and sweet.“We’re sorry about that,” I managed to say, even though I didn’t want to.“I hope you’re okay?” Damien’s voice struck me—cold and authoritative.I swallowed hard, though there was nothing to swallow, and nodded. I picked up my spoon to eat, but I felt a piercing gaze fixed on me.I looked up and my eyes landed on Louis. Even though he was eating, he couldn’t take his eyes off me.This time, I looked away immediately. I didn’t want anyone jumping to negative conclusions again.Of course, I’m not okay.Of course, I want to grab him by the neck and tear the truth out of him. I’m sure he’s Louis. He has to be. But then… why is he pretending he isn’t?Or am I the one who’s mistaken? No—it’s definitely him. So why is he acting so nonchalant, so carefree? He doesn’t even seem confused. He

Chapter 27: What’s wrong with me?“Home sweet home,” he said, the words escaping his lips with anticipation, a smile curling at the corners. As I watched him, I couldn’t shake the feeling—he looked so familiar. I couldn’t look away.Even though the sun rays masked half his face, that sense of familiarity stood firm. I silently prayed he would take another step forward so I could see him more clearly.“Anna, this is my son, Louis,” Mrs. Evelyn’s voice cut through my desperate thoughts. I turned, searching for her, until my eyes found her.She wore that sweet smile again—the same one she always wore like a mask, a mask she never removed.“Louis…” The name hit me like a wave. Why did he share the same name as my ex? And then it struck me—his figure, his stance—it was all the same. No wonder he seemed familiar.“Louis, this is Anna—Damien’s wife…”But Damien interrupted his mother.“Yes, she’s my wife.”I turned toward the voice, and there he was—Damien—standing tall and confident, his

Chapter 25: IS HE DIFFERENT?Anna POV…..The next morning…My hands flailed in different directions as I stretched and let out a groan. Even though I had just woken up, I felt completely exhausted—like I hadn’t slept in days.A dull ache pulsed under my lower abdomen, lingering without any intention of leaving. I didn’t feel this pain before I fell asleep, so why now? It wasn’t sharp, just persistent, and I couldn’t understand why it lingered. Did I sleep in a bad position? It stuck with me, and I hissed in discomfort.I must have slept rough last night. I probably ended up in a terrible posture, and now I’m paying for it.I rubbed my lower back with my hand, hoping to ease the pain, but it didn’t help at all. The ache was still there.“Gosh! What even made me sleep in such a horrible position?” I hissed, forcing myself out of bed. I need a shower. Maybe massaging my back under the warm water will help. That’s one of the fastest healing methods I’ve been using for a while now.Still
