He stepped closer. “Thank you for bringing this news… even if it tears us apart to hear it. Zagaff…” he paused, looking for the right words to say, “…he risked his life, and it’s my fault. I tried to show him the light… and now we might lose him.”

Sylvania’s lips trembled, but she said nothing. She only lowered her head, trying to absorb the pain.

Ruger gave her a small nod. “Go home. Keep yourself safe.”

She nodded back quickly, afraid that if she spoke, she wouldn’t be strong to say the words. A guard opened the door, and she was escorted out.

Outside the gates, her taxi was still waiting. She climbed in silently and the car drove off into the night.

Back inside, Ruger turned to Macholo. “Send someone to watch over her. Make sure no harm comes to her.”

Macholo hesitated. “Boss… are you sure? What if she’s the one who betrayed Zagaff?”

Ruger turned and looked at him straight in the eye. “If she betrayed him, she wouldn’t have come back at all. And the way she looked tonight…” he shoo

Macholo’s serious face softened for a moment. “Thank you,” he said, and his deep voice sounded quieter than usual. “Thank you for guarding him.”Sylvania’s lips parted. “I couldn’t leave him.”Macholo nodded once. “You should go home now. I’ll take over from here.”She hesitated…her eyes lingering on Zagaff, but finally she nodded. “Take care of him.”Macholo’s answer was short. “Always.”Sylvania walked out even though she didn’t want to.Outside, she waved down a taxi. Victor leaned back in his chair, blowing a thin stream of smoke toward the ceiling. His eyes were still fixed on Titan. “Don’t waste time. Get me more. Zagaff won’t hide forever. If this man is walking in the streets… then he’s too close to slip again.”Titan nodded once. “Understood.”Victor smiled like he didn’t want to. “Good. Bring me something solid, Titan. And when you do…Zagaff will finally pay his debt.”Titan gave a short nod, then turned and left the room.Back at Marco’s office, Titan pushed the door open and stepped inside. Marco was still at his desk, flipping through files, and his eyes lifted quickly when Titan walked in.“Your phone,” Titan said, handing it back.Marco took it with a small sigh of relief. “Thanks.”Titan didn’t leave right away, and his face was now serious. “Give me the number of the person who sent you those photos.”Marco hesitated for a moment, then typed quickly on a notepad. He tore the sheet and handed it over. “It was my brother, Russell. He mi

Sylvania took a deep sorrow breath, and she couldn’t believe what she had found out. Tears formed in her eyes as she had finally seen Coco, but didn’t know how she was to get him back. The truth had cut through her like glass; all along, she was playing with the devil…Lucian. The man who had smiled at her, who had touched her hand so gently, was the same man who had destroyed her wedding. Her fingers shook as she reached for the knife on the table, and she pressed the blade against her stomach. She gave out a little sob, biting her lip until it bled. Tears blurred her vision, and she dropped the knife, clutching her middle with both arms as though she had to hold herself together.“No… I can’t,” she whispered, rocking forward as her face was twisted with pain. She covered her face with her hands, but she couldn’t hide from the torment running wild inside her.Her eyes fell on the hat resting on the couch…Lucian’s hat, the one he had left behind. She grabbed it angrily, ready to throw

He tried to close his eyes, trying to erase the image he had just seen, and he gripped the wheel tighter though the engine was off. He gritted his teeth, and his eyes burned with bitterness as the image of Sylvania hugging that stranger replayed in his mind. He muttered under his breath, shaking his head. “Who the hell is he?” He felt his heart beating louder, and he took a slow breath trying to calm himself.Several thoughts rushed through him…as he thought of walking to the apartment, knocking at her door and ask her directly who the hell the man was. Another idea tempted him, as he just thought of leaving and pretending none of this ever happened. But the one that got him deep really raised the frag as het thought of catching this man on camera. If he couldn’t face them inside, he would wait outside. He would wait as long as it took and snap pictures when the man left. Then he would know who he was. Russell pressed his lips together, nodding to himself at his new plan. His eyes wer

Still being bothered, Tashil sat at her desk long after the newspaper had slipped from her hands. Her coffee had gone cold, but she didn’t notice. Her mind was racing. She drummed her fingers against the wood, staring at the ceiling as if the answers might fall down.“Scarlet Fashions… now we have a competitor.” The words circled in her head like a drumbeat. She pulled out her notebook and wrote down quick ideas, “we need more sauce and something new, something that has never been written before. And it will start here, at Style Studios…”But as she flipped through the old sketches on her desk, she found what she wasn’t expecting. Most of the best-selling designs that hung in the company’s showrooms; the outfits that had made Style Studios famous…were born from Sylvania’s hand. Each sketch and stitch were of Sylvania’s vision.Tashil stared at them, and she felt bitter. Even here… even in my own office, she’s still haunting me.She slammed the folder shut, leaning back in her chair wi
