She deflated. "Fine. We're worried because Lucas hasn't marked you yet. The Luna is usually marked before the Luna Ball otherwise she has no claim to the title."

I felt like I was sucker punched. "W - what?"

Again, Meg glanced at my neck, and with a start, I realized she was staring at Gavin's mark that had not quite faded. The main body of the mark had faded completely, leaving two small black marks where his teeth had punctured skin. It was impossible to hide, though it was somewhat inconspicuous if you didn't look hard enough. Meg had looked hard enough. I resisted the urge to raise my hand to the small mark, drawing more attention to it. Instead, I pretended, like I always did that it wasn't there and that the only mark I would bear would be Lucas's.

I turned to Alexis, hoping she'd confirm to me that it wasn't true. She was avoiding my eyes. Lucas had to mark me? Why hadn't he said anything? Didn't he want to? Was he regretting the fact that I'm his mate? I mean, I'd wanted to ta

Alexis squealed as we browsed through the shelves, grabbing dresses left, right and centre. My hands were empty and Meg held up a shimmery black dress to herself, asking for our opinion."Too revealing", I said."Perfect", Alexis said.Meg stared at the both of us. "Which should I take?"I shrugged."It's a date with your mate, Meg", Alexis said, rolling her eyes. "There's no such thing as *too revealing*. Cole will love it.""He would, wouldn't he?", Mused Meg. "I wonder if I could get something shorter than this?"I shook my head, amused. "That's one's revealing enough, Meg. You'll look fine.""Not just fine", Alexis cut in. "You'll look mega-super-awesomely-hot!""What she said", I said.Meg grabbed the dress and began looking for another one."Aren't you getting anything, Adrienne?", Alexis asked.I shook my head. "I don't really feel like shopping.""You never feel like shopping", Meg cut in. "The Luna Ball is in a week! You need to get something."I groaned at the reminder. Afte

I gasped awake to find a hand shaking me roughly."Wh - what...?"Lucas pulled me into his chest and held me tight. "You're safe, honey. I'm here. You're safe."I realized I was sweating heavily and my heart was thumping so hard, I could hear it and I knew Lucas could too. Another nightmare. We hadn't gotten around yet to see Dr Abbie about them and I cursed myself for falling asleep when I should've been awake. Snatches of the dream began to come back to me and I paled, gasping for air.*...the plunge of silver into my flesh...the sound of my own screams...the smell and sight of burning flesh...*I felt bile rise up to my throat and I pulled away from Lucas quickly and ran to the bathroom."Adrienne, what is it?", He yelled, following closely behind me as I threw the door open and bent over the sink, upending all my dinner that hadn't been a good size to begin with. Tears filled my eyes as I gagged at the memory that seemed permanently implanted in my brain. Bile rose in my throat ag

Bo sat and almost immediately began to regal me with tales of Lucas's antics as a child together with Cole and Lance. I laughed so hard, I almost shed tears. Then he proceeded to tell me why Lucas loved making his hot chocolate in paper cups."You see, Lucas used to take his chocolate in sippy cups until he was thirteen. He used to think he was a vampire when he was little and insisted hot chocolate was blood. Luna Katie had to play along and give him them in cups with covers so he didn't see what was in it else he threw a tantrum. He never did grow out of having chocolate that way", Bo said with a cheeky grin at Lucas whose ears promptly turned pink.I burst out laughing again, leaning back on my chair, food forgotten. The whole story was so ridiculous, I could almost assume Bo was telling tales.Lucas pushed his empty plate away and stood. "Alright, bard Bo", he said. "Time for the gym. Let's go."Bo's face fell. "Aww, you know how much I hate working out. Why do you have to torture

Finally, the light showed green and the car stopped as the doors slid open. The pack members behind me looked like they couldn't have been more glad. Lucas and I stepped out and I had to actively work to stop my jaw from clattering to the floor. Large was an understatement. Huge, fucking awesomely ginormous was more like it. The whole hall was like a large cafeteria, with the standard long benches and tables lining the walls and smaller circular tables in the middle that sat four. Then at the very middle stood two buffet tables so piled up with food that it gave the impression that they were leaning from the weight. Endless platters of steaming sausages, bowls of eggs, stacks of mile high pancakes, loaves of bread, bowls of fruits, a coffee dispenser, some jars of maple syrup, peanut butter, honey, marmalade, butter, you name it.The hall was rowdy and noisy as people moved around, helping themselves to breakfast, telling jokes and in some cases, yelling playful profanities. The longe

Lucas and I slept over at his room in the pack house that day, deciding to have breakfast there the next morning. He had another set of clothes and toiletries in his suite at the top of the pack house and he had enough foresight to have someone transfer some of my things from his home to his suite.I rolled over to him as soon as the first rays of sunshine filtered in through the blinds and poked his cheek. He didn't move. I poked it again, liking the bouncy sensation of his soft cheek. I giggled as his brow furrowed as he struggled to keep a straight face and pretend to still be asleep. I poked again and one of his eyes shot open as he glared at me."Is this how I'll get to wake up for the rest of my life? And it's barely even morning yet!"I giggled as he shut his eye again and went back to pretending he was asleep."Wake up, Lucas", I said. "I want to go to the gym today."He groaned and opened his tow eyes. "Can't I have an extra thirty minutes of sleep? I'm not a morning person."
