Elena’s POV

I woke up with a dull heaviness behind my eyes. Not from exhaustion exactly, but from the restless way I’d slept — if you could even call it sleep.

Somewhere between one dream and another, I kept seeing fragments of home. Dad’s face. The church aisle. Aiden’s expression when he realized I wasn’t there.

I forced those images out of my head.

Today wasn’t about them. It was about me.

I showered, slipped into a cream silk blouse and tailored high-waist trousers, and tied my hair in a low, sleek ponytail. Luxe Vogue was about image — every hallway here was a runway whether you wanted it to be or not.

Breakfast was at 8 a.m., and the rules were clear: all contestants were expected to attend together. No exceptions.

When I walked into the dining hall, I took in the scene with a trained eye.

The breakfast spread looked like something out of a magazine — fresh fruit glistening like jewels, warm pastries sending curls of steam into the air, scrambled eggs perfectly

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    I want you

Aiden’s POV Her eyes searched mine, wet and wide, trembling with doubt that melted into something else—something fragile, reckless. “You… really didn’t,” she whispered, her voice barely there. I shook my head slowly, never breaking her gaze. “I swear it, Lara. I didn’t marry her.” Something in her broke then. Relief. Fear. Hope. All tangled together. Her lips trembled, and before she could stop herself, she leaned forward, resting her forehead against mine. The softest sigh left her. “Then why does it still hurt so much?” My chest ached. My hands slid up, cupping her face. “Because you care,” I whispered back. Her breath hitched. And then, in that raw, dangerous silence, she lifted her face, her lips brushing mine—not a kiss, just a trembling accident of closeness. But it was enough to unravel me. “Lara…” I warned, my voice a low growl, though my thumbs stroked her skin like I couldn’t let her go. “I want you.” she murmured, the faintest smile tugging at her lips bef

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    Hope for something unreal

Aiden’s POV Her tears soaked through my shirt, warm and aching against my skin. Every drop felt like it was carving me open. I couldn’t let her believe this. Not tonight. Not when every damn thing I’d done since morning was for her. “Lara…” My voice came out rough, strained. I tipped her chin up with my fingers, forcing her to look at me. Her eyes were glassy, red from crying, but damn, she was still so painfully beautiful it almost broke me. “You’re wrong,” I said firmly. She blinked at me, lips trembling. “Wrong? About what? That you’re married now? That I’ve already lost you?” I swallowed hard, brushing my thumb across her cheek, lingering longer than I should have. Her skin was warm, soft, addictive. “I didn’t marry her.” Lara’s breath hitched, but instead of relief, a bitter, shaky laugh left her lips. “Don’t… don’t play with me like that, Uncle. Not now. You left before dawn. You didn’t even look back. Do you know how that felt?” My chest tightened. “I swear to you

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    out of club

Aiden’s POV The music hit me like a wall the second I stepped inside the club—lights flashing, bodies moving in chaotic rhythm. My jaw tightened. This wasn’t Lara’s world. She didn’t belong here. I scanned the crowd, ignoring the stares, ignoring the whispers of recognition. It didn’t take long before I found her. Lara. She was sitting in one of the corner booths with Rose and a group of strangers, a glass in her hand. Her head tilted back as she laughed at something someone said, but it wasn’t her usual laugh. It was too loud, too careless—like she was forcing it. Relief and anger twisted inside me all at once. I moved closer, my eyes locked on her. When she noticed me, her laughter faltered, and her lips parted in shock. “Un-Uncle Aiden?” she said, blinking like she wasn’t sure I was real. She tried to stand, but her balance betrayed her, and she stumbled against the edge of the table. I was there in two steps, catching her before she could fall. “Careful,” I mutte

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    Lara’s absence

Aiden’s POV By the time I returned home, every bone in my body ached with exhaustion. The press, the board members, Richard’s endless scheming—it had drained me. But beneath the fatigue, a strange sense of relief pulsed quietly. The wedding hadn’t happened. Elena’s letter was still folded in my pocket, its words burned into my mind. Three months. That’s what she wrote. Three months before anything could be pushed again. Three months. Enough time. Enough time to find a way to end this engagement completely, to crush it before it chained me forever. Because the truth was, I didn’t want Elena. I never did. And as for Lara… I already knew what I felt. I didn’t need time to figure that out. What I needed was time to free myself from Richard’s grip, from this ridiculous alliance he was forcing me into. For once, I felt like I could breathe. I pushed the door to my room open and flicked the lights on. Empty. But not completely. Her scent was there—faint but unmistakable. Th

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    Enjoy life to the fullest

Lara’s POV I waited. And waited. The clock ticked louder and louder in my room, like it was mocking me. Rose had promised to come pick me up “soon,” but soon had turned into hours. My stomach growled, but my chest burned hotter than hunger. I was restless. Agitated. Angry. Jealous. Every few minutes, I snatched up my phone, checking for missed calls or messages. Nothing. Finally, I gave up waiting politely. “Rose, where the hell are you?!” I snapped into the phone when she finally picked up after my fifth call. “Do you want cobwebs to grow on me before you come?” Her lazy laugh came through the line. “Relax, princess. I’m on my way.” “On your way? You said that an hour ago!” She giggled again, clearly enjoying herself. I could picture her rolling her eyes, putting on her makeup at her own sweet pace while I was losing my mind here. By the time her car finally pulled up in front of the house, it was already a few hours past lunch. I stormed out, slamming the door behind

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    Internet Scandal

Elena’s POV The training ended just before noon. My head was pounding from the endless corrections about posture, the reminders about grace and expression. Everyone was eager to get to lunch, to laugh and gossip over trays of food. I just wanted a shower and ten minutes to breathe.I slipped my notebook under my arm and walked down the long corridor toward my room. My phone buzzed in my bag, and when I pulled it out, the caller ID flashed a familiar name.“Jessica,” I whispered, already bracing myself. The moment I answered, a deafening shriek nearly burst my eardrum.“Elenaaa!”I jerked the phone away, holding it at a distance. “Jess, calm down—what is wrong with you?”“You’re famous!” she shouted, her voice bubbling with excitement. “Already famous and you haven’t even walked the real runway yet!”I frowned. “What are you talking about?”She laughed, half hysterical. “Don’t play dumb with me. The internet is burning with your name right now. Go check for yourself. Social media, int
