" I am not doing it, Aunt Margot," I adamantly refused as we walked into my home, it was already a few minutes past 5pm, and all I can think about now is a shower, dinner, and sleep but my beloved godmother has decided to be a thorn in my flesh. For the past two weeks, she has been going on and on about this girl she wanted me to meet. She wouldn't stop singing her praises and comparing her to Izzy, which is part of the reason I do not want to agree to do this; she shouldn't be comparing Izzy to anyone. "I am not asking, Julian," She replied in a serious tone. Why wouldn't she just drop it? "You are trying to force a 32-year-old man to go on a date he isn't even interested in? A blind one at that," I stated, stopping in my tracks "Yes, that is exactly what I am doing, and he doesn't have an option," She responded with a knowing smile on her face, but her tone left no room for argument. "You are 32 already, Julian. If you don't want a wife, I want one for you, and this is your chance; you will never know if you don't try." "So you are trying to say that magically a lady you picked out yourself for me will turn out to be the wife I couldn't get for myself?" I questioned with raised eyebrows, I know she means well for me, but sometimes I really wish she would just stay out of my business. "You cannot know till you try," she shrugged. "And if I don't like her and she isn't even my type in any way?" I asked. "Would definitely be better than Izzy," She muttered under her breath. "Aunt Margot," I called out, not so shocked. She has never liked Isadora from the first day we became friends in preschool. She always refers to her as her father's spoiled princess, which I do not agree with. Isadora has her flaws, but that doesn't make her a bad person. "First of all, we both know Izzy and I do not have a romantic relationship; we are just friends, really close friends." ''Tell that to her," Mags muttered, making me roll my eyes. "Secondly, I will really appreciate it if you stop comparing Izzy with a woman we both don't know," I added. "You mean a woman you don't know cause I have known Sienna since she was just a child although she isn't really familiar with me but her Mum is my really close friend" She responded, the name hitting hard as I remembered the last woman I had met that had that name, Sienna Blake. Gold-digging girlfriend of Damon Cross, the only man who had ever stolen from me and almost got away with it. He was lucky, he only got house arrest, a compulsory mandate to pay back all he had previously taken with interest, and a restraining order; it could have been worse. She was always clinging to him like a second skin, fawning over everything he did like he was so amazing; she was probably the one who pushed him into stealing from me just to support her lifestyle. "And with everything I know about her, she is going to be a perfect match for you," She added, smiling from ear to ear. "But..." I wanted to oppose, but she caught me off immediately. "Before you try to decline once again, I am willing to give you details about her and then maybe a picture if that will make things better." She asked, already pulling her phone out from her purse. "It is supposed to be a blind date," I stated, which I am sure she knew already. "I know, but a picture and a few necessary details about her will not change much; it would even help you tonight when you meet her." "Tonight?" I repeated. "Oh yes, it's tonight and you only have two hours to get ready," She responded, laughing lightly. "I am not going on a date with a woman I don't know and with no time to even get ready," I refused. "I am sure you don't mean that," She clicked, walking past, swinging her purse. "I will be in my room, let me know before you leave, okay, and you better not keep the young lady waiting' She said in a sing-song voice as she got to the stairs, the amusement in her voice infuriating. She knew deep down I couldn't deny her request, no matter how badly I wanted to, and she has always used her hold over me to her advantage. Margot Lane has been the only mother figure I have had for over twenty years now, since she left, and the only parent I have ever considered since I turned 18 and disowned the man I once called father. "So much for a shower, dinner, and a good night's rest," I muttered under my breath, already texting my secretary to reschedule all my meetings before 9am tomorrow, I would have to sleep in. ~~~~ ' Venue: I chose your restaurant at the heart of the city, just so you will be more comfortable, and luckily it is not so far away from her house in case you decide to drop her off Time: 7pm This is all the information you need to know about her, Name: Sienna Elise Blake Age: 27 Occupation: Marketing executive at Oaklyn Marketing Group (OMG) Here is her picture just as promised. P.S.: Her mother said she hates to wait, so please be there on time. She might have a little attitude, but she will loosen up with time; she just needs to get comfortable. She doesn't handle strangers well, especially men. Also, her mother said she doesn't know your name, so do well to introduce yourself properly.' Mag's message read, but my eyes stopped at her name, reading it over and over again, it can't be just a coincidence, right? I quickly tapped on the picture, the face staring back at me confirming my suspicions. Damon couldn't get to me himself, and now he wants to use his girlfriend; this time, I wouldn't let him get away so easily. He will fully understand how I was able to build myself to this point without even one scandal of corruption or anything illegal. I will not fall prey to his schemes a second time, and for bringing Aunt Mag into this, they will have to pay dearly for it. My dear Aunt Mag has no idea what she has just done. Sienna is going to regret ever agreeing to any of this once I am done with her; she wants money, I would give her even more. A taste of the life she can only have in her dreams, and take it away immediately, I get her exactly where I want her. "Sienna Blake, hope you are prepared because I am about to take you for a long ride," I muttered to myself, smirking as I started my car heading for the restaurant.Sienna's POV"Welcome back, Miss Blake. Welcome back, Mr. Thorne," Julian's driver said as he opened the door for us, while two other men loaded our bags into the trunk of the car."Thank you," I beamed, but Julian just nodded, his face blank. He had been this way all morning; he had only said a few words to me, and that was because of my panic. He had suggested we drive back, but that would have meant long hours on the road, so I pushed until he agreed to us taking a plane back.He stayed by my side throughout, ensuring I felt safe. I had lost it, but not as much as I would have if he wasn't there. He held my hands, singing to me like he had done before, but this time I was more aware of what was happening. Although, with how things are going, I doubt he would ever want me to mention it.My phone buzzed in my purse, snapping me back to reality. Lila's picture popped up on my screen, making me smile."Hey," I greeted softly as I picked up."My girl is back!" she squealed excitedly. My
Julian’s POV “We can stop if you really don’t want to talk about it,” she said softly, sitting up a little.I hated talking about Ethan, but not as much as I hate talking about our father.“It’s fine; you asked about Ethan and I, I can manage that.” I breathed, moving my eyes back to the city below us. Sienna’s deep gaze remained fixed on me like she was trying to see through me.“Our father... let’s just say he was one messed up man.” I continued, that day replaying in my head like it was yesterday.“He had the money to send us both to college without even blinking; he didn’t need any scholarship to assist, but no, he just decided not to. Even when Ethan and I got our scholarships, he blatantly refused to cover up the rest of Ethan’s bill the scholarship couldn’t cover. He outright asked Ethan to fight me for my spot, and Ethan did. Ethan was our dad’s favorite despite everything, so he believed our father would give in and just help Ethan at some point, but oh boy was I wrong.
Julian’s POVFlashback (15 years ago)“You have to back out, Julian. That scholarship spot is mine,” Ethan sneered as he walked into my room, headphones around his neck, hands in his pockets, like he simply came to borrow something and not ask me to forfeit the one thing that might be my only chance at a better life.“If you didn't come here to say anything reasonable, you might as well leave,” I said calmly, not even looking up from the book I was reading."This doesn't sound serious to you?" “If it did, you would know.”“You better not test me, dear brother, or things will get really ugly,” he threatened. His voice was serious, but this time, I didn’t care. I couldn’t afford to care, not when my whole future depended on this.“Do your worst, Ethan.”He really did his worst... he got me out of the house earlier than I planned, which would have left me homeless if not for Aunt Margot.*** End of Flashback ***“Would you like me to get you anything, Sir?” the housekeeper ask
Sienna's POVJulian's body went rigid against mine, his face morphing into one of sheer anger."Sienna, let's go," Julian instructed, grabbing my hand, not too tight, but I could feel his urgency."Come on, why are you in a hurry, dear brother?"Brother? He has a brother?I pulled back to carefully access his face; his eyes were already on me."I will explain later," he whispered, already knowing what I was thinking."Sienna, right?" Julian's brother spoke up, walking closer to where Julian and I stood. Julian quickly pushed me behind him protectively."Watch it, Ethan," Julian spat pure anger and hatred in his voice. That got me confused. How are they brothers yet acting like sworn enemies? What could have happened between them?"Or what? Too scared she might want me instead?" Ethan taunted, his words shocking me.Is this why Julian didn't want me to come? He was scared I would want his brother? How stupid... I am not even his in the first place."I am not scared of anything," Julia
Julian’s POV "If you actually want this meeting to hold I advice you don't use that term again" I warned trying to contain the anger that was brewing in my heart."Come on,don't be like that. We are brothers aren't we?" Ethan chuckled walking closer to me,a mischievous hlint in his eyes that fueled my anger even more. I should have declined this meeting or even sent someone in my place."Why did you insist we meet here,Ethan?" He chuckled, making himself comfortable on the chair in front of his desk.“We have business to discuss, Julian. Have you forgotten?”“Business that couldn’t be discussed over the phone? I am a busy man. I don't have time for your silly games,” I kept my voice blank as I spoke. There is no need to let him get what he wants.“I see you have a new plaything.” The excitement in his voice made me very uncomfortable.“Is that the business you want to discuss? I don’t see how my personal life is any of your business."Ethan has a very bad history when it comes t
Sienna's POV I watched the roads pass by, the city lights illuminating the beautiful city. A car had arrived in no less than fifteen minutes after I had called Leah and now we were on our way to wherever Julian was.Something in me kept pulling at me trying to tell me that this was a bad idea but I have already come this far might as well complete the journey plus pissing Julian off is so much fun."We have arrived, Miss Blake"The driver informed as the car slowed down coming to an abrupt stop. A large building stood beautifully at the side of the road, it was entirely made of glass which made it stand out amongst the other large buildings here. Of course Julian would have his meetings in places that scream money, I doubt he knows what the world simply even means."Thank you" I appreciated as I stepped forward from the car bracing myself as I took in the large building in front of me.How the hell am I supposed to find Julian here?I straightened the creases that had formed on my d
