LOGINSienna's POV
"Yes, this one, it would do the trick," Lila yelled excitedly as I flashed the dress I was holding in her face. "Finally, I was this close to thinking you were losing your touch," I groaned, plopping down on the sofa in my room right beside her while we both stared at the dress I had placed on the bed. "Remind me, how I let you take this dress that day," Lila spoke up, turning to look at me. "Well, you asked me to tell you what i thought about the dress and I did, then you my loving best friend forever decided it would look better on me instead so you got the dress for me and got yourself another one" I said meekly batting my eyelashes at her, my little way of playing innocent. "If I remember vividly, you watched me buy the gown for myself and then you stole it," she accused me, folding her hands across her chest. "Lila," I gasped loudly, trying my best to stifle my laughter. "You have no proof, besides we both know it fits me like a second skin, perks of having a body like mine," I joked. "Yeah, sure," She muttered, rolling her eyes. Lila and I have been best friends since diapers, our mothers are best friends too. We have always been inseparable, no matter what anyone tried to do, we always found our way back together, she is the reason I never really felt lonely when Mum would go on her monthly trips when we were growing up, she is the reason I struggled to get back on my feet once again after what he did to me so many years ago and still the reason I stood my ground with Damon after he cheated. "You better start getting ready or you will be late and you know Mum wouldn't like that," Lila spoke up, stopping my train of thoughts. "She insisted I stay till the end, so whoever it is should be ready to wait till I come," I said stubbornly. "I don't really care if he waits or not, but we still have to get our celebratory drinks tonight, too. The earlier you go, the earlier you return, and we both know how much I hate having to wait," she chided. That makes two of us. "Fine, just because I am looking forward to it too, you are yet to give me all the juicy details from your little trip because I am sure you did more investigations than the one you were actually paid for," I joked, wiggling my eyebrows at her. "I do not understand what you are talking about, I did exactly what I was paid for and nothing more," She quickly defended. "You can lie to yourself all you want, but not to me. All this excitement and extra glow is not just because you were able to secure the contract for the brand, there is something else, and you'd better start talking," I laughed. "Whatever it is you tell yourself," she murmured, rolling her eyes and ignoring me. "You are going to help me with my makeup up right?" I asked in a small voice as I adjusted myself on the couch, placing my head on her lap, so she could see the puppy dog eyes I was trying to make. "You asked me to help you find a dress for tonight, and I did so. I believe I have helped enough," She answered, turning her face away. "No, I asked you to please help me get ready and not abandon me halfway," I corrected, placing my hands on my waist. "Yeah, sure, I am done here," she rolled her eyes, turning to leave. "Lila," I called out as she got to the door, but she simply smiled brightly at me before banging the door loudly behind her. "So much for having a supportive best friend," I murmured to myself as I picked up my gown. ~~~~ It was already ten minutes past seven, and my dearest date for the night wasn't here yet. To say I am not surprised will be an understatement. I am always the one to keep them waiting and not the other way around. This is a big blow to my ego, and the fact that I just had to promise Mum I would stay tonight of all nights just worsens everything. I am so going to give Mr.Late one hell of a night for this. "Good evening, Ma'am," A waiter greeted me with a slight bow. I slowly glanced up from my phone, nodding slightly in acknowledgement. "Can I get you something while you wait? I was asked to specifically get you anything you want, Mr.Thorne would be with you soon," He said once he realized I wasn't going to say anything to him. "Mr.Thorne?" I asked, confused. "Yes, Ma'am," he answered, staring at me like I had grown a second head for not knowing who it was. "Are you sure you are at the right table?" I questioned just as my phone pinged. He watched me in confusion, before shaking his head and walking away muttering incoherently to himself, how embarrassed he must be feeling right now. 'Hope you have been attended to? I will be with you shortly - J. Thorne' the message read, it was from an unknown number, which confused me more. J.Thorne? Mr.Thorne? He should be my date for tonight, but why does the name sound so familiar? 'Mum, don't I deserve to at least know the name of this little setup for me ?' I texted, gratefully she was already texting back. 'Oh wow, this is new,' She texted back with a laughing emoji. 'What do you mean?' I responded, suddenly getting agitated, I hate waiting, I have always hated doing so, it reminded me so much of that day. 'You have never wanted to know any of their names, is this a sign that I finally picked right. This is great news then, considering this one was so much more harder to convince than the rest.' 'He didn't seem so interested in the whole idea until I sent his godmother, my dearest friend, your picture and all the necessary information that he needed to have about you,' She typed on. 'YOU DID WHAT, MUM?' I asked, anger slowly filling me. She never knows when to stop, just when I thought she had learnt from the silent treatment I had given her for setting up a dating account for me without my consent, and now this? Who knows what she must have told him. 'What exactly is the point of calling it a blind date?' I texted back angrily. 'I know it defeats that purpose, but it is still a blind date to you if that makes it any better.' 'It doesn't, plus now I want to know his name,' I replied. 'I had to do it, he was being reluctant and I never give up,' She replied, she isn't even remorseful about it, it is obvious she knows nothing about the word privacy. 'I have to go now, I need my take routine shower, have fun, my child' Great, I still didn't get his name " I have always known you were rude to people below you, but not to people above you, too," Someone spoke up from behind me, just as another message came in from Mum. 'Oh sorry, I almost forgot to answer your question, it's Julian Thorne, CEO OF Ashthorne Enterprises, and also Corporate lawyer and Senior partner at Strathmore Holdings, a real gentleman indeed,' It read. My eyes widened as I recalled exactly why the name sounded so familiar.Julian's POVI don't know how on earth someone has been leaking vital information about this company without anyone finding out, and from my findings, this has been happening right under my nose for over a year now, and I am just finding out. I am not sure how things got this far, but what I know is that I am so going to fucking kill somebody."We had a spy in the company that has been leaking vital company information to Ethan's company," the words sounded bitter to me, like I am in some kind of sick dream I can't seem to wake up from."What?...how come?" Sienna exclaimed, her eyes widening in shock.I don't know why, but a part of me felt it was okay to tell her, which doesn't make any sense to me when I couldn't even tell my most trusted employee, Leah...something about the way she watched me when she asked the question made me feel...safe?"I don't know, before I even got here this morning, I was already ambushed with mails and calls, and then I arrived at work to find out that mo
Julian's POV"Mags, I don't...." I tried to come up with a lie, but she wasn't having it."I am not asking, Julian, you can't be in a relationship with someone for how many months now and I have not met her, and what even makes it more absurd is the fact that I am the reason you both met and now you are hoarding her."Hoarding her? More like preventing a temporary person from coming close to my home and my life."It is not like that, Mags, Sienna is a really busy woman, it is even hard to get some time with her myself." I lied, keeping my face straight, but Mags' eyes told me she already knew exactly what I was trying to do.I guess lying to a woman who has known and taken care of you since diapers is a lot harder than it looks."You better not come home for dinner without her, Julian," she stated, not even leaving any room for negotiation. How the fuck do I get Sienna to come over for dinner without giving her the wrong signals....nice one, Mags. ****
Sienna's POVThe words from last night wouldn't stop haunting me, I can literally hear them in my head in a baritone voice of some unhinged killer...and the fact that I can't even think of who it is from makes it even scarier.I don't want to let my mind wander to who it might be....it won't end up well for me, I already know that."Bye, Mum," Brittany murmured, rushing out before I could even respond to her like she couldn't bear to spend another second in the same car with me.They say children easily forgive, but this feels so much more than a little childish grudge and I fear what this would mean for our relationship that is barely hanging by a thread. What makes this worse is the fact that none of the ways I have tried to work on my trauma worked. It's like I am losing grip of my child and I can only sit and watch....it feels like a different type of death that I can't even explain.****The company was eerily quiet today...it's not like it is always noisy or anything, but there
Julian's POVAnd once again... I fucked up.It's like I can't just do anything right for a complete day when it comes to her. I should really stop letting my anger control my actions or I will sabotage everything.I need to do this right... it is the only way to achieve my goal at the end of these six months."I am fine, Izzy, heading home now," I answered as I headed towards the elevator. It was already pitch black outside, just a few minutes over 9 p.m., and I finally decided to go home."By this time?" she screeched over the phone, her high-pitched voice spiking the dull ache in my head."Why are you sounding like you are not used to how I work anymore?" I spat, trying to cover up my irritation at her drama."I can never get used to it because I don't even understand why you do so in the first place. It makes no sense to me. You practically own the place and it is not like the company is still coming up from scratch that we can say probably needs close follow-up. Your company is li
Sienna's POV"Brittany, time for bed," I said as I walked into the living room where she sat watching cartoons."Please, Mum, just a few minutes more, the show is almost over," she pleaded, her eyes still glued to the screen."Bed, now.""Mum...""Now, Brittany," I snapped angrily. The last thing I need after the day I had is for her to throw a tantrum."You know, Mum, I can't believe I still have to spend an extra week with you. I wish Grandma would just come get me, I don't want to stay here anymore," she yelled, storming out of the sitting room angrily, leaving me to face the cold weight of her words. If I say that didn't hurt so much, then I am a very dirty liar because that felt like being stabbed over and over again by my child. My baby doesn't want to be with me.... I am now so bad that she can literally say it to my face how much she hates being near me. Why me? Why does it have to always be me? Haven't I suffered enough?I felt the wetness on my cheeks before I even realized
Sienna's POV'Hey, please I know I was a real bitch to you but please call me, I am miserable without you'My message sat read in Lila and I's chat. I had sent this message over an hour ago and she had read it almost immediately but she didn't say anything. Not even an attempt at typing and yes I have been watching it.A part of me is angry she just ghosted me this way and then the other part of me understands her anger. We never kept things to ourselves and now I am becoming an expert at it. I know I would have even reacted worse if it were me, I guess that is part of what makes it hurt more.I sighed for the umpteenth time this evening as I dropped my phone back on my desk. It is already 4:40pm and all I can think about is running home and crawling into my bed for the rest of the night...but no, I still have this fucked up dinner with Ethan and cancelling on him will warrant questions I don't even want to think of answering.I have got to have a change of shoes at least...two more h
