VIOLETTA’S POV

Mateo had dropped me into the passenger seat of the truck before taking off, just as a heaving Cassian almost caught up with us.

Cassian practically crashed into my lap, dropping onto the step of the truck as he tried to catch his breath.

I was still laughing when, as if he wanted to tease Cassian one last time, Mateo came running back.

“Well, you should be grateful I loved you enough to…” He dropped a backpack in front of Cassian before adding, “pack up clothes for the weekend.”

VIOLETTA’S POVGrowl.Oh my… fucking GOODNESS!He smirked as I covered my face with both hands and immediately buried myself against his chest. “Please don’t.”He burst out laughing to my surprise, throwing his head back as he teased, “That… that is your dangerous side?”“Oh, shut up,” I groaned into his shirt, fighting the smile that threatened to ruin the moment. It didn’t really matter that he was teasing me because, for the first time since the final whistle, he had somewhat forgotten about the loss that had been eating me up.I peeked through my fingers and found him still laughing, harder now.“Come on, princess,” he said once he finally caught his breath. “Let’s get you fed before your stomach threatens someone else.”I sat there still embarrassed as he walked over to his stall.I didn’t even try to look away as Cassian pulled the damp jersey over his head… The fabric clung for a second before peeling away, revealing the hard lines of his back and shoulders… I could already im

VIOLETTA’S POVHow can we get rid of this pest once and for all?“Logan, this is really not the time for this” I said to which he only just laughed. That laugh… the same one that used to make me roll my eyes when we were together, now only made my blood boil in anger. It was the confidence for me, he had seen me walk in here and then followed suit so he could have to gotcha moment… and even could look me in the eyes after everything? What more could I do to get rid of him?I took a step toward him, ready to tell him exactly where he could shove his attitude down his ass but before I could take a step in his direction… Cassian’s arm slipped around my waist and pulled me against his side.He leaned closer, his lips brushing my ear as he whispered just loud enough for him to hear. “Just let the wild dog bark.”I almost laughed.Logan, however, did not find anything amusing like I did. The smile on his face disappeared in a blink.“What the fuck did you just call me?”Cassian didn’t even

CASSIAN’S POVLogan. He was leaning against the wall, staring at us with an unnerving smile on his face.At that moment, all I could think about was the bullshit he had said to me before the game.Hours earlier…We were getting ready in the locker room, the usual noise filling the space as everyone prepared for the game.“Where’s Vee?” Jace asked, glancing toward the door.“Probably on her way,” Declan said, his eyes trailing to the door before turning to me, “Did she text you she’d be late or something?”It was the way these lots were asking about my girlfriend like she owed them a debt. And at the same time, they were kind of right, I hadn’t heard from her since she texted me about thirty minutes ago that she wasn’t too far from the rink.Nico looked at me too, pausing his prepping to face me. “True, Vee is usually here by now… what did she say when you talked to her?”I shrugged as I pulled my jersey over my head.“My girlfriend isn’t obligated to be at every single thing you idiot

VIOLETTA’S POVFor a moment, I simply stood there. The disappointment in the rink was almost tangible and I watched as the boys slowly made their way off the ice, their faces hard and down.If anything, Cassian looked the worst. He barely acknowledged anyone… myself included as he headed toward the locker room.I lowered my camera as they knew there was no point forcing cheerful content after a loss… one they were already beating themselves badly over. Also I was the worst at this… Cassian’s frown when he had seen me by the rink earlier was still weighing heavily on me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it.Perhaps I had a hand in the reason he was losing his shit on the rink? The thought made my stomach twist.I felt Ollie’s eyes on me, but I walked past him toward a quieter corner where I could focus on keeping the team’s social media positive.I edited and posted a couple of shots, making sure they captured the effort the boys had put into the game without pretending the loss hadn’t h

VIOLETTA’S POVThe team had another game today.By the time we arrived at the rink, the auditorium was already packed to capacity, with supporters from both teams filling the stands. The noise was almost overwhelming, with chants coming from both sides as everyone waited for the game to begin. This time I had arrived so late mostly because Sienna had stopped for a late snack.Ollie gave me a look as I arrived with her… one I pretended not to see as I adjusted the camera hanging around my neck. The players were still warming up, and just as I found the perfect spot to get some good shots, I spotted Cassian turning to meet my eyes.I tilted my head before waving at him with a smile on my face.He didn’t return either… he didn’t even look happy to see me.That confused me a little because he had driven me to school this morning. “Don’t even ask!” Ollie snapped as I turned to face him. “Because why the fuck were you even late?”I gulped and was about to explain when he interrupted.“Let

VIOLETTA’S POV“I also brought a tray of drinks to the table,” Mateo said before adding, “Maybe we just had a lot to drink?”Thankfully, the conversation didn’t stir back to Sienna because, honestly, I didn’t know how to defend that allegation.I finished serving breakfast, and soon everyone was gathered around the table.Nico was already complaining that Jace had taken the biggest pancake.“They’re all the same size,” Jace argued, holding up his plate to compare.Nico looked at his pancake, then at Jace’s. “They are absolutely not.”Jace shrugged, completely unbothered before digging into his food. “Looks the same to me.”“Then give me yours.”“Hell NO!”I shook my head, trying not to laugh as they continued arguing over pancakes like their lives depended on it.Breakfast as expected was the same, loud, messy, and somehow exactly what I had come to expect from mornings with these boys.By the time everyone was finished, I hurried upstairs to get ready for class.I slipped into one o
