The Hawaiian breeze carried the scent of salt and sunscreen, but Julia hardly noticed. Her heart raced like a drum, echoing against her ribs. She hadn't expected Alan to actually pull her out of the resort building and drag her toward the beach, away from everyone else.

"Alan… what—why—" she started, but he cut her off with a sharp glance.

"No talking," he growled, voice low, dangerous. "Not until I say so."

Julia's stomach twisted. She wanted to protest. She wanted to pull away. But the heat in his eyes froze her in place.

They reached a quieter stretch of sand, waves rolling lazily at their feet. The ocean reflected the early morning sun, sparkling like liquid gold. But Julia felt none of the calm. Alan's jaw was tight. His fists clenched, but the moment he looked at her, his restraint cracked.

"I heard," he said, voice low, almost strangled, "everything Kai said in that conference room."

Julia's pulse skipped."Alan, I—"

"No," he snapped. "Not now. Don't explain. Don't lie. Just… look at me."

She swallowed hard, fear and desire colliding. His chest was rigid, his arms threatening, yet inviting all at once.

"You're smiling at him," he said suddenly, words laced with heat and accusation. "I saw it. The way you looked at him this morning—it's not a professional smile."

Her throat tightened."It's not like that, Alan…"

He stepped closer, closing the gap between them until she could feel the warmth of his body, the rise and fall of his chest, the faint scent of him mixing with saltwater.

"Then tell me why I can't stop thinking about every time your lips touched his voice in my office this morning," he whispered, jealousy igniting every word. "Why I can't stop imagining you leaning into him—smiling at him—letting him protect you…"

Julia trembled. She felt herself shaking—not from fear, but because his words were piercing straight into her chest.

"I'm not… I'm not doing anything!" she whispered, tears brimming. "Alan, please… you don't understand. Kai—he's just… he's trying to help me. Nothing more. I swear!"

Alan's eyes softened slightly when he saw her tears. Her walls were cracking—finally, finally letting him see the vulnerability she hid behind stoic composure and defiance.

He stepped closer again, hand brushing her hair back from her face."Julia…" he murmured, voice trembling now. "Do you know how it feels to watch someone else touch what's mine? To hear you speak to him like… like he matters more than me?"

She shook her head, tears spilling freely now."I… I didn't mean for it to be like that! I swear, Alan! I only—"

He pressed a finger to her lips, silencing her."I know," he whispered. "I know you didn't. But I can't control what I feel. And I don't… I don't want to."

The wind picked up, carrying the roar of the waves around them. Alan's hands cupped her face now. Their foreheads touched. His gaze locked onto hers, smoldering and possessive, demanding yet gentle.

She could feel it—the pull, the longing, the raw need that had been simmering since the night in Hawaii.

Without thinking, she leaned up, closing the distance. He met her halfway, lips brushing hers softly at first, testing, teasing, before the kiss deepened.

Time slowed. The world disappeared.Only the taste of him. The heat of him. The ache of everything they'd suppressed.

And then—

"Alan! Julia! Wait up!"

A chorus of voices ripped them apart. Julia blinked. Veronica appeared at the edge of the beach, fuming and clutching a notebook like a weapon. A few coworkers trailed behind, oblivious to the storm they had interrupted.

Julia's heart raced. She pulled back, cheeks flushed, words stuck in her throat. Alan's eyes darkened, but he didn't release her. Instead, he leaned close again, lips hovering near hers, and whispered:

"This isn't over."

Her knees nearly buckled. She nodded, breathless, knowing deep down he meant it.

The waves crashed behind them, a soundtrack to the chaos, jealousy, and heat that had finally, irrevocably, ignited between them.
