"We're here," he said and parked the car. He opened the door and stepped out. He unlocked mine, yanked off my seat belt and hauled me out.

I didn't fight him even as he dragged me in. He stopped in front of his door, unlocked it with his key card and pushed me inside.

I could have landed on my knees if I didn't have some stamina, and then my child could have been hurt. God knows I almost lashed out before I breathed, trying to keep my anger at bay. I studied the interior of the simple but massive house, my eyes looking for another exit way since he'd already locked the one we came in with. He took just one step closer to me.
