*Kiera*

The midday sun streams through the kitchen windows, casting a warm glow on everything it touches. I’m rummaging through the cabinets, preparing lunch for Frida while she sits at the table, engrossed in her latest drawing. It is nice having a day at home… which I have because Tina asked for the day off.

The soft scratch of the crayon against the paper fills the space, a comforting rhythm I’ve come to love. I can hear her humming a little tune to herself, and it warms my heart. This is our little sanctuary, a place where laughter and creativity flourish.

Just as I’m about to set a plate of sandwiches and sliced apples in front of her, I hear the front door swing open with a loud creak. I glance over, wondering why Will is home this early. Then he all but bursts through the door, looking rather ruffled, as if he’s just run a marathon. My heart sinks a little at the sight. Something’s off.

“Frida, sweetheart, why don’t you keep working on your drawing while you eat?” I say, trying

  • Fake marrying my new boss   Interview

*Kiera* I sit on the edge of the couch, my heart racing in anticipation. The living room feels both cozy and daunting, with its soft lighting and the faint scent of lavender wafting from the diffuser in the corner. Will sits beside me, his hand firmly holding mine, and I take a deep breath, trying to calm the fluttering in my stomach. I glance at him, and he offers a reassuring smile that somehow eases my anxiety. He looks effortlessly handsome today, his hair tousled just right, shirt fitted perfectly to accentuate his broad shoulders. I can’t help but admire how he exudes confidence, like a star ready to shine in the spotlight. The doorbell rings, jolting me out of my thoughts. Will squeezes my hand, an anchor amidst the storm of my nerves. “You’ve got this, Kiera,” he whispers, his voice low and steady. I nod, though the butterflies in my stomach are still performing acrobatics. “Candy said it would just be a casual chat,” I mumble, trying to convince myself more than him. “Bu

  • Fake marrying my new boss   Good for each other

*Will*I stand in the doorway, watching as Kiera gently detangles Frida’s hair, her fingers moving with a tenderness that makes my heart swell. The sight of them together is almost too beautiful to bear… Kiera, with her warmth and patience, and Frida, whose innocence shines through despite the shadows of her loss that still lingers.I can’t help but think how incredibly lucky I am to be married to Kiera, even if it is a contract marriage. There’s a magic in the way she connects with Frida, a kind of understanding that seems to bridge the gap between their different worlds… and I feel She gets me too“Wow, Frida, your hair is so thick and soft!” Kiera says, her voice light and playful. “It’s like spun gold. You must have gotten it from your mom.”Frida pauses her drawing, looking up at Kiera with wide eyes. “People say I have her hair,” she replies, a hint of pride mingling with the sadness in her voice.“I agree,” Kiera smiles, brushing a stray strand behind Frida’s ear. “You look jus

  • Fake marrying my new boss   Tangled

*Kiera* Will has stepped out on the balcony, I am not sure if it is the same call or if he had more to make, but he seems not to be too agitated, which I assume is a good sign. As I clear the table, the sound of Frida’s crayon scratching against the paper still echoes in the background. I sneak a glance at her… her long blonde hair cascades over her shoulders in wild tangles. She’s so absorbed in her drawing, her focus unwavering, that she doesn’t even notice me watching. “Hey, Frida,” I say, trying to keep my tone light. “Your hair looks like a bird’s nest sweetie. Do you want me to help you brush it?” She glances up, her blue eyes wide with surprise, then nods slowly. “Okay, but it tangles a lot. I sleep a lot, remember?” Her expression shifts slightly, and I catch a hint of sadness in her voice. She’s been through so much, and I know the weight of her past hangs heavy on her small shoulders. “Yeah, I remember,” I reply gently, moving to sit beside her at the table. I can’t hel

  • Fake marrying my new boss   Glittering dresses and movie stars

*Kiera*I lean against the kitchen counter, my heart fluttering with anticipation as I watch Will stick his hand into the bowl and then toss a few popcorn into the air, catching them effortlessly in his mouth. It’s a simple moment, but it feels charged, like we’re on the cusp of something big. I am not really sure why it has such an effect on me, there is just something about the relaxed way he does it.Frida is still glued to the TV, her laughter ringing out like music, but soon enough, we’re ready to pull her attention away from the screen.“Hey, Frida!” I call out, my voice bright and inviting. She turns to us, her eyes wide and curious, as if she can sense the excitement bubbling in the air. “We have something super cool to tell you.”Her expression shifts from mild interest to full-blown excitement as she pauses the movie and straigtens as good as she can on the couch. “What is it? Are we having ice cream for dinner?” she bounces slightly in her seat, her dark curls bobbing along

  • Fake marrying my new boss   Planning the first outing

*Will* As I juggle two grocery bags in one hand, my phone clamped stubbornly to my ear, I unlock the door to the penthouse with my free hand. The late afternoon sun spills into the hallway, casting long shadows that dance across the floor. David's voice crackles through the line, filled with the usual mix of sarcasm and genuine concern. “Dude, come on! You can’t just bail on the premiere. It’s a big deal… we made plans months ago” he insists, and I can almost hear him pacing on the other end.“I know, I know, but life kinda happened in the meantime” I reply, struggling to keep my balance as I kick the door closed behind me. “But Frida just got here. She’s still settling in, and I don’t want to leave her high and dry. It feels too soon.” “Bring her with you. It’ll be a blast,” David suggests, and I can hear the excitement in his voice. “You know she’d love the spotlight. Plus, it’s not like you’d be alone, I am pretty good with kids actually… auntie David to the rescue.” I pause, s
