Niko’s POV

  • Faking Forever With My Hockey Roommate   Chapter 12

Niko’s POVI pulled the black towel over my head, scrubbing at my wet hair as I walked out of the bathroom into my bedroom. Water was still dripping down my bare chest, pooling at the waistband of my grey sweatpants. I tossed the towel over a chair and grabbed my phone off the nightstand, putting Dmitri on speaker and setting the phone down on my dresser. I had immediately called him after Zaria left, discussing what happened today."—and three different PR reps from the team are practically breathing down my neck," Dmitri’s frantic, accented voice blasted through the speaker.I leaned down and pulled a clean t-shirt out of my bottom drawer, slipping it over my head. "Let them breathe, Dmitri. It's good for their lungs.""Niko, I am serious!" Dmitri groaned, the sound of papers rustling filling the background. "I did not expect this fake dating scheme to actually work this fast, but the press is losing their mind.” He groaned.“Everyone is asking where this girl came from. Who is she?

  • Faking Forever With My Hockey Roommate   Chapter 11

Zaria’s POVMy feet were killing me by the time we finally walked through the front door of the apartment. I kicked off my heels right at the entryway, letting out a loud, dramatic sigh of relief as my toes hit the cool hardwood floor.David was sitting on the couch in his sweatpants with a controller in his hands and a bowl of popcorn balanced on his lap. He paused his game the second he heard us coming in, looking between me in my fancy dress and Niko behind me, still looking like he stepped straight out of a magazine.A slow, obnoxious smirk spread across my cousin's face. "Well, well, well. Good day or good date?"I felt Niko step up right behind me, his shoulder practically brushing mine as he casually unbuttoned his suit jacket. My face burned instantly. I didn't want to give David any satisfaction, especially not with Mr. Big Shot standing right there listening to every word."It was whatever, David," I muttered, rolling my eyes and walking past him. "Don't start.""Whatever?"

  • Faking Forever With My Hockey Roommate   Chapter 10

Niko's POVWell, damn. She was actually making this easy. I held her face for a second longer than necessary, letting the cameras outside get their shot, before dropping my hand back to the table.Okay, okay I admit, she looked good. Fuck me, she looked really good. The dress fit her like it was made for her, which is funny because it's like some plain thing, but whatever I wasn't about to sit here and stare at her like some starstruck idiot. But then I looked at her again, she picked up the menu immediately, holding it high enough to hide her face. I could see her eyes darting frantically across the page, her fingers gripping the cardstock like a lifeline."Calm down," I said, leaning in slightly across the white tablecloth. "I know this is confusing, but I’m the one who stands to lose millions if you mess this up. Don't you want your money?"She lowered the menu just enough to glare at me over the top of it. A tight, terrifyingly fake smile stretched across her lips."Oh my goodness

  • Faking Forever With My Hockey Roommate   Chapter 9

Zaria's POVI stepped out into the hallway, smoothing down the front of the dress, and stopped in front of the full-length mirror near the entrance.I looked at myself. Really looked at myself.Godamnnnnnn.I had spent the last three days feeling like absolute garbage, eyes swollen, skin pale, living in oversized clothes that swallowed me whole. But now? I had put on a little lipstick, curled my hair so it fell over my shoulders in soft waves, and zip-locked myself into this nice ass dress. The dress itself was simple but the way it fit was just great. It made my waist look tiny and hugged every curve like it had been tailored specifically for me.So yeah, maybe I was a little depressed, heartbroken, and living out of a suitcase, but damn. I looked incredible.I pulled out my phone, angled it toward the mirror, and took a quick picture. Then another one. I was adjusting my pose to catch the lighting when a voice spoke up right behind me."Are you taking selfies?"I froze, my hand snapp

Zaria's POVTwo days had passed since I signed my life away on a piece of paper, and I was still waiting for the other shoe to drop.It felt entirely too good to be true. I had completely stopped the desperate job hunt after signing the contract, but my brain wouldn't stop running the numbers. When was the money actually going to hit my account? The draft for my mother’s medical bills was due by the end of the week, and every time my phone vibrated, my stomach did a little nervous flip thinking it was the pharmacy calling to tell me her prescription was delayed. If this thirty thousand dollars was real, it meant safety. It meant paying off Mum’s care, putting away a solid savings cushion, and finally, finally, getting my own place. Somewhere small, quiet, and completely free of men with massive egos.I was sitting on the edge of the bed in the spare room, staring at my reflection in the mirror, when David knocked on the open doorframe and leaned against it."You doing okay in here?" h

Niko's POV"Dude, are you fucking insane?"David was standing in the middle of the kitchen, staring at me like I’d just told him I was quitting the league to join the circus. He hadn't even rubbed the sleep out of his eyes yet, but his jaw was practically on the floor.I took a slow sip of my coffee, unbothered. It was almost impressive how similar he and Zaria were when they got dramatic. It must be a genetic thing. The same flared nostrils, the same wide-eyed disbelief, the same total inability to just take a win and move on with their morning."I'm completely sane," I said, setting my mug down on the counter. "And lower your voice. She's right down the hall.""Lower my voice?" David took a step toward me, throwing his hands up. "Niko, what the hell are you doing with my cousin? This isn't some trashy romance book where the rich guy pays a girl to pretend to be his girlfriend. Who does that in this day and age? What's your angle here?"I rolled my shoulders, keeping my face totally
