Lila POV

Ryan's words stopped me in my tracks.

"This is all your fault! Everything is your fault!"

Something inside me snapped. All the guilt, all the fear, all the exhaustion from the past few days turned into anger.

I spun around to face him.

"My fault?" I asked, my voice shaking. "How is any of this my fault?"

Ryan skated to the edge of the rink, his hands gripping the boards. "You started dating my enemy! You caused the fight!"

"I did not cause the fight!" I shouted back. "You and Derek caused the fight! You two chose to use your fists instead of your words! I was just sitting there injured, and you both decided to turn it into some kind of territorial battle!"

"Because you were with him!" Ryan yelled.

"So what?" I demanded. "Even if I was dating Derek, even if I chose him over you, that does not give you the right to attack him! The fight was not about me, Ryan. It was about you and Derek and your stupid rivalry that has nothing to do with me!"

Ryan's face flushed red. "You do no

Derek POVThe reaction to my speech was mixed. Some students took the petitions I offered, reading them carefully before deciding whether to sign. Others walked away shaking their heads, clearly not interested in defending Lila. But at least some people were listening. At least I had planted a seed of doubt about the narrative everyone had accepted as truth.I watched Lila walk into the school building, her shoulders hunched, her face pale and exhausted. She looked like she had been through hell. And she had. Because of me. Because I had been too weak to stand up for her when it mattered most. But I was done being weak."Derek!"I turned to see James jogging toward me, his face tight with concern. James had been my closest friend on the team since I transferred to this school. He was one of the few people who actually knew me beyond my reputation as the bad boy hockey player."Hey," I said, giving him a slight nod."What are you doing, man?" James asked, looking at the petitions in my

Lila POVThe drive home from school was silent except for the sound of my mother crying quietly in the front seat.I sat in the back, staring out the window, my fever making everything feel distant and unreal. The three day deadline kept repeating in my mind like a countdown to my execution.Three days to prove I deserved a second chance.Three days to find teachers who would speak on my behalf after what I had written.Three days to explain the unexplainable. It felt impossible. When we arrived home, my mother went straight to her room and slammed the door. I heard her sobbing through the walls, and the sound made my chest ache with guilt.Robert stood in the hallway looking lost and tired. He gave me a sad look before following my mother upstairs.I dragged myself to my room and collapsed on my bed, still wearing my school uniform. My fever had gotten worse throughout the meeting. I was shaking with chills one moment and burning up the next. But I could not sleep. Every time I close

Lila POVThe principal's office felt like a courtroom.I sat in a chair facing a long table where three administrators sat watching me with stern expressions. Principal Hayes was in the center, flanked by Vice Principal Morrison and the Dean of Students, Mr. Carter. My mother sat to my right, her posture perfect, her face a mask of controlled fury. Robert sat to my left, his hands folded in his lap, looking uncomfortable and sad.And I sat between them, burning with fever, shaking with fear, feeling like I was about to collapse at any moment."Thank you for coming in today," Principal Hayes began, her voice formal and cold. "I know this is a difficult situation for everyone involved."My mother opened her mouth to speak, but Principal Hayes held up her hand."Please, Mrs. Richmond, let me finish. Then you will have your opportunity to speak."My mother pressed her lips together tightly but nodded.Principal Hayes turned her attention to me, and I felt like I was being examined under a

Lila POVThe car pulled into the school parking lot, and immediately I knew something was wrong. There were too many students gathered outside. Too many people standing around staring at the school building. Too many phones out taking pictures."What is going on?" Robert muttered, parking the car.My mother said nothing, but her jaw tightened as she looked out the window.I felt my fever spike higher as dread washed over me. Something terrible had happened. Something worse than everything that had already happened. We got out of the car, and that was when I saw it.My stomach dropped so fast I thought I was going to be sick right there in the parking lot.The entire front wall of the school building was covered in paintings. Giant, crude, sexual paintings. And I was in every single one of them."Oh my God," I whispered, my hand flying to my mouth.Someone had painted me surrounded by boys. Dozens of boys. All the boys I had written about in my stories. Their faces were recognizable. T

Lila POVI could not sleep.I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling, watching shadows move across the walls as the hours crawled by. My mind would not stop racing. Every thought was torture. Every memory was pain.Derek had denied me. Publicly. On the internet for the whole world to see.The message had gone viral within hours. Everyone at school had seen it. Everyone knew that Derek Stone was claiming he had never been close to me. That our relationship was a lie. That I was nothing to him.I had checked my phone a hundred times throughout the evening, hoping to see a text from him. An explanation. An apology. Something to tell me that the denial was not real. That his father had forced him to do it. That he was sorry. But my phone stayed silent.Derek did not call. He did not text. He did not reach out at all.It was like I did not exist to him anymore. The boy who had kissed me at the park just days ago. The boy who had held me while I cried. The boy who had promised to help me thro

Ryan POVI stood in my room with the door slightly open, listening to every word being said downstairs. My stepmother's voice carried through the house like thunder. Loud. Angry. Unforgiving."You are a disgrace, Lila! An absolute disgrace!"I heard Lila sobbing quietly, trying to defend herself, but my stepmother was not having any of it."Do you have any idea what you have done to this family? To your stepbrother? To our reputation?"I winced at those words. My stepmother, Margaret, had always been obsessed with reputation. What people thought. What people said. How things looked from the outside."I am sorry, Mom," Lila whispered through her tears. "I did not mean for any of this to happen.""You did not mean for it to happen?" Margaret's voice rose even higher. "You wrote those disgusting stories, Lila! You posted them online! You dragged Ryan's name through the mud along with yours!"I clenched my fists, wanting to go downstairs and defend Lila. Wanting to tell my stepmother that
