Jaxon’s POV

The drive back home took forever, the traffic light took longer to turn green and the turns were unusually longer but when I stared at the time on the dashboard, it's still the same five minutes drive.

My brain couldn't stop playing her voice over and over again. Why is she intentionally shutting me off when I can still see the same looks in her eyes or was that all part of the act.

I park crookedly now at our car park and shut the the door harder than necessary.

Hazel’s POVA few months ago, I would have killed to hear those exact words from Trey.“I like you.”“You’re the one I want to be with.”“It doesn’t even matter that we’re somewhat related.”In fact, I might’ve even bawled out my eyes from pure happiness. I would have replayed them in my mind until they were engraved into my very memory.I wouldn’t have hesitated to run into his arms and pour out every bit of affection I held onto for so long. But standing here now, watching him sway unsteadily on his feet, his eyes red-rimmed and heavy with alcohol, I felt absolutely nothing. No butterflies. No longing. Anger. Sadness. Or even regret.Just emptiness.“Go home, Trey,” I said quietly. “You’re drunk.”He scoffed, stumbling a step to the side before barely catching himself. “I’m perfectly fine.”“You’re not.” I could smell the stench of vodka oozing off him from where I stood, strong and bitter. “Just go home.”He reached out and grabbed my wrist, his grip harsher than before. “I’m not g

Trey's POV It's been a crazy period for me especially these past few days as the seasons draw very close. My dad has never been so hard on me till as of late, "Boy, this is your final year, I need you to prove that you are the star player this season if you want the scout to take you seriously."He looked at me sternly from the dinner table and resumed eating up his dinner after crushing my appetite.I have been the star player right from High School until two years ago when a freshman decided to steal my spotlight. Now I will do everything within my power, to prove that I am still the star player.Today, I played a fast one on him—my biggest rival, Jaxon and assembled the team in his absence. The look on his face when he walked in was the icing on the cake. Well I had every right to do so because that was the discipline and strategizing the team needs right now. After the meeting came to an abrupt end, I waited a while in the apartment catching up with O'Malley until my phone buzze

Hazel’s POVJaxon’s car pulls up in front of my dorm like a scene straight out of a movie I take a quick look at myself one more time on my phone's reflection before finally stepping out in sight. My white crop top clung to my waist in perfection, in contrast with his jersey paired with my short skirt and my sneakers. I even curled my hair for once instead of throwing it into a messy ponytail. When Jaxon sees me, he straightens beside his car with his eyes glued to me. I never imagined that there will be a day where I would get trapped in his eyes like this.“Wow! You look… dangerous.” He whispered as I finally got close to him.I let out a chuckle. “Is that a good thing?”“That’s the best thing.”I was about to open the car, when he held my hand and turned around to open it for me.As he drove, I couldn't help but steal glances at him with his eyes are fixed on the road. When we rode for about five minutes in silence, I knew something was wrong.“Are you okay?” I tapped his hands.H

  • Faking it with the Hockey Bad Boy   Chapter 68: Living in Denial

Hazel’s POVI don't know what came over me a few minutes ago. I know that the whole homecoming stuff had overwhelmed me. I still couldn’t believe Jaxon had gone all out like that, in front of everyone. Then I freaked out because I was almost certain he was about to profess his feelings and that was too hard for me to believe. The car was quiet now except for the soft hum of the engine and the occasional rush of wind slipping through the window. I wanted to reach for him to take back my words. To explain that I wasn’t rejecting him earlier, I was only protecting myself but fear glued my hands to my thighs where I held unto the flower that he gave me laying across my lap.Today was one of those days that had a lot going on.I pressed my forehead briefly to the cool glass of the window and let out a slow breath. When I glanced at Jaxon, the hurt I had seen in his eyes earlier was gone but not replaced with ease. His jaw was tight now and his gaze fixed on the road. The silence between

Jaxon's POV I didn’t plan to have asked Hazel out for homecoming this way but with everything that had happened lately, I decided it was best to sweep her off her feet. Plus,, I figured that when I finally to open up about her I truly feel about her, this will score me some point. When I went through the idea with Johnson, man was totally blown away."Man, when did you turn to be a sucker for love?" "Relax dude! You aren't the one I am asking out" That earned a punch from him. Here, I was in standing there in the cafeteria—black and gold balloons bobbing, looking at her because I was tired of pretending that I didn't care and this was all a deal.My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was trying to escape my ribs. I had imagined a hundred reactions of her at this moment, her laughing it off, freezing at a spot, or probably reminding me this was all pretend. I hadn’t imagined the way she looked at me now, with her eyes wide and lips parted, because she looked totally in awe.
