Mag-log inAlyssa sat rigid in the limousine. At this time, she was meant to think of the ice cream flavour to enjoy with Kate.
Now she was getting married. She glanced at the man beside her, her husband. The word was foreign to her. It was a place she had only imagined for Conner, but now someone else filled it up. Kate had always joked about her impulsive actions and decisions. But never in her wildest dreams did she imagine her impulsiveness would get her legally bound to the such a person. Even Conner didn't own a limousine. Her stomach lurched forward. This was beyond her. “You are awfully quiet.” Harrison’s rich voice echoed behind her. “I thought you were excited to prove a point to me. Are you going to admit defeat now?” He almost pulled a smile. Alyssa turned to him. “I stand by the fact that I can make you believe in love. Your fancy car and title does not change anything,” she said defiantly. Harrison rolled his eyes. “You could not even maintain your own relationship.” What? That was not her fault at all! Alyssa’s face instantly turned red, and she faced the window. This was a lot better than indulging that block of wood. She wanted to talk back, but he might actually be Harrison Alexander the Fifth, he could do so much by lifting his fingers. Suddenly, an idea hit her. “Wouldn’t your wealthy parents disagree if you bring an ordinary civilian for marriage?” Harrison looked at her, his deep blue eyes piercing, as if trying to see if she was playing any tactics. “My parents have no say in whosoever I choose to wed,” he uttered lazily, then his eyes went up. “Alfred, please tell him to drive faster. I have a lot of work to do after this.” Alfred perked up from the front seat after hearing his name. “The court is in sight, Sir.” Fifteen minutes later, Alyssa walked out of the court as if she was in a trance. “Miss Alyssa. I'm sorry, but you would be following a different transport from the Master,” Alfred spoke, drawing her attention. “Oh, is there a reason why?” It was then Alyssa noticed that Harrison had already left. “Master Harrison had something urgent to deal with.” “Oh, okay. Can I go to my own house now?” Alyssa asked, contemplating if she could use this chance and leave the country. Alfred smiled, shaking his head. “I'm afraid not, Miss Alyssa,” he said, before beckoning her towards the vehicle. “Oh my heavens! Is that an armoured Mercedes Maybach? S-Class?” Alyssa's eyes widened, and she rushed down. “I see you knows your cars. Yes, it is,” Alfred answered her as they came closer to the car. Alyssa inhaled. Maybe marrying an ultra billionaire was not a bad idea after all. The Mercedes Maybach drove into a large iron gate, and it opened up to a large expanse of land. At the centre stood a large castle, with other buildings surrounding it. Around the pristine castle was a golden gate, manned by two security blocks. Alyssa pushed the door open, stepping out to face the tall, gloomy mansion. The afternoon sunrays were what gave it colour. “Miss Alyssa, the guards are there to assist you in opening the door,” Alfred said when he came to her side. “Thank you, but it is faster if I do that myself.” Alyssa gave him a small smile. She knew it was for her safety, but was there a need when they were at their destination? Not saying anything, Alfred led her inside. “Would I have to meet Harrison's parents, please?” Alyssa asked. Her eyes were everywhere, taking in the massiveness of just the living room. The dark colours gave her a headache. No wonder that guy was like that. ‘I don't believe in love.’ Alyssa chuckled in her head. How could you believe in love when you feed your eyes with darkness? “Master Harrison lives alone, but I'm sure he would inform you when you need to make an appearance to your in-laws,” Alfred answered. Alyssa's eyes widened. “Lives all by himself? That is sad.” “He likes his privacy,” Alfred continued. “Does he have any hobbies or things he loves doing?” Alyssa asked. “He is currently engaged in his companies,” Alfred was cautious with his answers. There were times when the Master had such things until that fateful day. It was best not to divulge anything until he was sure this new woman could be trusted. “When will he come back, please?” Alyssa sighed, sitting on one of the sofas. “Master Harrison comes back very late in the night due to his immense workload. But a guard contacted me, and he would be home in an hour for dinner.” Alyssa slowly nodded. Getting an experience of Harrison's living experience made her realise she would have to put effort into winning his heart. However, she did not love him either, except he was a very handsome man, which was actually good enough. Pinching her nose bridge, she scolded herself for being impulsive. “I'm never drinking wine again.” --- In the Winters Mansion. Conner threw his phone against the wall, startling Clara. “Darling, what is wrong?” Clara inched forward. She had a feeling it was because of Alyssa’s return. “She actually went and got married. I cannot believe Alyssa would do this. What is her play? Does she have something that would stand against us?” Conner moved his fingers through his hair. Clara moved back with a slight frown on her face. This was supposed to be her moment. The spotlight was finally on her and now Alyssa had found a way to drag it back, just like when they were children. Clara dug her nails into her palms, letting the pain clear her mind. She had gone out of her way, hiring those men to kill Alyssa, yet it was fruitless. However, giving up was never an option. “Baby, you are thinking too much about this. Remember, we have our wedding on the way,” Clara uttered, moving to stand in front of Conner. Seeing the teary gaze in Clara's eyes, Conner smiled before leaning down to kiss her forehead. “I know, Clara. But Grandfather is making it hard. I do not think the wedding would hold this month either, unless Alyssa can convince Grandfather to let us be,” Conner explained. “Do we really need Grandfather’s agreement? He is not the one getting married!” Clara thought out loud. Conner nodded. “He is the patriarch of the Winters Family. His agreement must be given as long as he lives.” “I see. Alright then. I hope Alyssa would consider the good you have done for her and help us out,” Clara smiled and rested on her fiancé's chest. Either way, she would still become the Winters’ bride.Alyssa's fingers were still trembling slightly from the shock of what she had just heard. Her blood did not match. It made no sense. Harrison already had a thought. It was something that irked him but looking at Alyssa's state, he didn't want to jump into any conclusion. Not right now. “Alyssa, think carefully,” he said, his voice steady but firm. “Have you ever had any medical test like this before?” Alyssa shook her head slowly, her lips pale and dry. “No… never something like this,” she answered, her voice barely above a whisper. Her thoughts were spiraling, refusing to settle into anything logical or calm. If they were her parents, then why did her blood not match? Unless— “No,” she muttered under her breath, rejecting the thought. Harrison noticed the shift in her expression and tightened his jaw. Before he could say anything, a nurse hurried toward them with urgency written all over her face. “Miss Alyssa, the patients' condition are becoming unstable again,” the
Alyssa didn't raise her head, and and her cheeks were still flushed.Seeing her behaviour, Harrison's smiled widened. He loved every single part of her that she showed him.“You know he's gone right.” Harrison muttered, wanting to nibble on the corner of her ears.Would she shy away or would she fight him for it?It was something he irked to find out.Alyssa finally lifted her head. Her cheeks were still flushed, and her heartbeat had not calmed completely.Harrison watched her closely, clearly enjoying every single reaction she gave him.“You look like you just ran a marathon without moving an inch,” he teased lightly.Alyssa shot him a look, but her lips betrayed her with a shy smile.“You are the problem, Harrison. You never know when to stop,” she muttered.Harrison leaned closer, his voice dropping into a softer tone instantly.“It’s your fault for stealing my heart,” he replied, brushing her hair aside gently.Alyssa froze for a second, her breath catching at his touch and words
The sun rays shone into the room and landed directly on Alyssa’s face. She twisted in the bed.Or at least, tried to move when she felt a heavy force on her.“What the…” she looked down and realized that a man's arm was around her waist.“Harrison.” She mumbled but the man merely gave a grunt in response. Then he pulled her closer to his body, “Stay still.” The sound was more of mumble than a statement. It was only because Alyssa was close to him that she was even able to hear him.“Harrison I have to go to work today.” Alyssa grumbled, and wanted to move again. But the man was having none of it. “It's your birthday, they'd understand.”His argument was valid and seeing that she was no longer struggling, Harrison moved closer to her, resting his face in her hair. She had a wonderful scent, something he couldn't get used to.Alyssa waited a while and when she heard that his breathing was softer, she knew he was sleeping.Normally she would try to sneak out, but the man had really been
Harrison pulled Alyssa closer to him, blocking her with his body.“Stay behind me, Aly.” He whispered. The gun shots were fired again, causing the people in the area to go down on their knees.l“Everyone shut up.” One of the men said.At this sound, Harrison snuck a cap on Alyssa's head and bent down to her ear level.“Keep this on and keep your face covered.” He said, pushing the cap down.Alyssa nodded. Her mind was already filled with thoughts. Was this a coincidence or did bad luck stuck to her for some reason? It was then she noticed that Harrison shifted and she grilled his arm tightly.“Please don't leave me.” She whispered harshly.Another rain of bullets were shot into the air.“We came looking for Mr. Alexander, and we know you are here.” “We don't plan to kill you and we come with a message.”Harrison's brow deepened into a brow, and he kissed his teeth. Before they came here, he had guards stationed at every entrance of the arcade. That means these people must have blended
The car sped through the lively streets as neon lights reflected brightly. Alyssa pressed her face lightly against the window, watching the city blur beautifully. Her excitement was barely contained, and her fingers tapped rhythmically against her lap. “Are you always this excited about simple things like arcade games?” Harrison said, before he moved his hand to cover her fidgeting fingers. Alyssa turned to him quickly, her eyes shining with unfiltered joy and warmth. “They are not simple things, Harrison, they are experiences that stay forever,” she replied.Harrison let out a low chuckle, clearly amused by her passionate explanation.Alyssa sighed, "I have never been to the arcade before." She explained."Why?" He raised his brow, even he had been to the arcade when he was young. He had begged Alfred to cover up for him when he went with his friends."Father said I had to study but Clara went. I looked forward to her stories and wanted to go myself. As an adult, I didn't have
Harrison tightened his grip around her. He was over the moon.He had never imagined he could feel such happiness because of a woman.Even Kelsey had never given him this kind of joy.“You shouldn’t cry, Alyssa,” Harrison said softly as he stared into her eyes, his fingers gently wiping her tears away.He grinned in a slightly goofy way. “This is a yes, right?” he asked, looking down at her, his hands still firmly around her waist.Alyssa nodded softly. “Yes, Harrison Alexander. I’d be your wife,” she said, hugging him even tighter, as if afraid he might disappear if she let go.It felt like his heart exploded in his chest.Harrison lifted her off the ground as he rose to his feet, spinning her lightly before carefully placing her back in her seat.“We should eat. We barely have enough time for what I have planned,” Harrison said, lifting his gaze to her with a hint of excitement. But he froze.Alyssa was already rushing through her food. She glanced at him with a playful grin, then po
“Kate, I do not think I can get out of this bet.” Alyssa was on her bed, talking to the one person who made her feel safe. “Why do you want to leave? This was really good for you, Alyssa. What about Conner and Clara?” Kate asked. “I would leave the city after the gala. Run away from Harrison. Get
“Watch your words, Helda. It is my wife you are talking about,” Harrison’s frown deepened. Helda scoffed. “You do not understand, Brother. It happened the first time, and it will definitely happen again. Women like this are gold diggers.” “I have more than enough gold for her to dig, Helda. What i
Alyssa walked with her waist tightly held by Harrison. Being a model allowed her to adapt to such an atmosphere. But she had never been in a place like this as someone's wife. Even Conner didn't take her to all these places. “Relax.” Harrison whispered by her side. Alyssa nodded softly. It was s
“I told them to get you dresses of all colours,” Harrison narrowed his gaze. Seeing why his mood had dropped, Alyssa quickly waved her hands. “I was the one who told them not to. It was too expensive and it was only one day. I do not think I would have enough to pay back all that,” she explained.
