"Alyssa, you can't just walk out after the damage you caused," Conner said.

Alyssa smirked. "Weren't you the one who was chasing me away? And as you can see, I have moved on," she said, beckoning to the man beside her.

"You are kidding. You cannot expect me to believe that you got married and patched up your life in a single year." Conner stepped forward, his eyes dimmed when he stared at Alyssa.

There was no way she could move on that fast. Did she not say she loved him?

Alyssa frowned. She remembered calling this man her boyfriend. Why was Conner talking about marriage?

"That is none of your business, Conner." She pulled off the diamond ring on her finger.

"Ta-da! We are now engaged. I am getting married to him and that is my decision, so stay out of it." Alyssa placed the ring on her hired boyfriend's finger.

Meanwhile, Harrison looked at the woman who had dragged him into this drama, and he gazed down at the ring. What was she thinking?

She mentioned pretending, but she never spoke about marriage!

He wanted to say something, but from the way she spoke, this moment deeply mattered to her.

Harrison's eyes moved to Conner. He had seen the displayed video.

This Alyssa lady had bad taste in men.

Conner felt a pang in his heart, but he could only watch as Alyssa walked away.

Why did her back feel so unreachable now?

Seeing the interaction made Clara burn with jealousy. "Conner, my darling, she doesn't deserve you. I am here," she said with a sultry voice, causing the man to turn to her.

Just as he was about to speak, his phone rang.

Conner picked up his device, and when he saw the caller, his face paled.

It was his grandfather.

By then, Alyssa had walked out of the building, and she pulled the waiter with her.

A tear fell down her cheeks, but she quickly wiped it.

This was what she had planned for a year.

Despite the pain and anger she felt, she would suck back her tears.

The past year had been filled with so much trouble, but the journey had strengthened her.

Then a voice broke her reverie. "Your ring."

Alyssa turned back to see the waiter handing over the ring.

"Even you don't want to marry me." She chuckled with a sardonic smile.

The man raised his head. "I don't think you want to get involved with me either." His deep blue eyes seemed to stare into her soul.

Since when were handsome men recruited to be waiters?

Alyssa paused, then she tilted her head. "You don't believe in love at first sight," she said, wondering why she was so confident in flirting with a stranger.

It had to be the wine.

"I do not believe in love," the man shot back. He pulled out the dollar notes she had given him. "I do not need this either."

Then he turned to leave.

"Wait. You can't leave." Alyssa panicked. She had just played a big card inside that building by announcing her wedding to him.

Why did she not think straight? She blamed her raging emotional impulse.

The man raised his brow. "I am not interested in getting involved in your drama. I was merely bored today."

"What if I make you fall in love?" Alyssa blurted out.

Her mind was constantly racing. If Conner found out she was lying, he would make her life worse.

"I do not need love at the moment—" The man paused his words before raising his vibrating phone to his ear.

Alyssa could only watch in silence while she admired his facial details.

This man was beyond handsome. Was this what books meant when they described the male leads as Greek gods?

His jawline was defined, and the dimples in his cheek were an added bonus.

His voice had a deep, rich feel, and it made her swallow. It seemed like he was not pleased with whoever was on the other side of the phone with the way he pinched the bridge of his nose.

Taking her gaze down, she realised his clothes were tailored to his fit.

This was definitely not a waiter.

"You can take a picture, it would last better." The man's voice brought her back.

"I— I can make you believe in love, and I really need this wedding." Alyssa uttered. She was already out of options.

At first, the man took a good look at her, his eyes eating her up.

"Since you want to get married so badly, I would humour you. Make me believe in love in thirty days or..."

Alyssa didn't think he would actually accept at all, so she interrupted him. "If I do not, I will do whatever you want after the bet."

He slowly shook his head. "You are making a big mistake, lady." He chuckled. It was a deep, dark chuckle.

Just then, a limousine pulled up in front of them and a man stepped out.

"Master Harrison. We have been looking everywhere for you." The elderly man took a quick bow before speaking with deep concern.

"It is fine, Alfred. Mother sent me here to honour her friend, Jamie Winters. I don't think I will be coming back."

Alyssa froze. She couldn't believe her eyes. Isn't that a limousine?

"You own this vehicle? What kind of waiter are you?" She asked.

Her entire world tilted to the side.

Maybe she needed to get a job as a waiter too, if they were paid this richly.

Alfred perked up. This was the first time in years since he had caught the master alone with a woman. He did not think Harrison would take his mother's orders seriously and actually find a wife. "He is Harrison Alexander, of course he would be afford a limousine."

Harrison sighed. "Alfred, please tell mother I am fine. This is my new wife, so please take us to the court. We both have a contract to sign."

Alyssa swallowed hard. Harrison Alexander? Wasn't that the name of the famous and first Billionaire in the country?

But that man was named Harrison Alexander the Fifth and the annoying thing was there were no online pictures of him, so she didn't know what to believe.

But if they were the same person, she had just gone from the pan and into the fire.

This man could order her downfall because of everything she did today.

It was better to be safe than sorry.

"I am sorry. I did not know who you were. Whatever I said, I take it back. I apologise for troubling you and wasting your time." She bowed down her head and instantly turned to leave.

But a strong grip held her hand.

"The only place you would be going would be the court. I want to see you fulfil your little promise."

Alyssa walked into a store, holding the card tightly in her hand. “What dress would I get?” She asked herself. Her fingers brushed lightly over the sleek surface of the black card, as if reminding herself that this was real. On a normal day, she couldn't care less about getting a dress, but Harrison wanted her to. And maybe, deep down, she wanted his eyes to remain on her on that day. To see that quiet admiration in his gaze. So she'd definitely pick the best dress. Joshan had picked this place for her, saying it was one of the best. The store was filled with elegance, soft lighting bouncing off polished floors, racks lined with exquisite designs that whispered luxury. But anytime Alyssa's eyes scanned the price tag, “It's so expensive.” She bit down on her lips. She wasn't used to spending such an amount on a single day. Even with the card in her hand, her instincts still resisted it. “What is wrong with you? Can't you watch where you are going?” Someone had bumped into A

The phone rang shrilly, and this time, Alyssa didn't waste time picking it up. Before she could even speak, Harrison took the phone from her hands. “Good day, Dutch.” He said into the phone. On the other side of the call, the hand that held the phone instantly paled. Harrison sat down on the bed, his lips curving into a calm, confident smile. “I'm sure you are surprised I know your name,” Harrison said. Dutch wasn’t the only one surprised—Alyssa was flabbergasted too. Maybe she had underestimated Harrison. This man was a billionaire. Of course, he would have certain advantages. “I might be cancerous and bedridden now, but never think of me as weak, especially when you try to blackmail my wife.” Harrison’s tone was brutal, cold, and unwavering. Earlier, when his guards informed him that a man had escaped, he had instructed them to let him go, hoping the man would lead them to his higher-ups. But this Dutch fool had been reckless enough to threaten his wife. “I

“Alyssa.” Harrison looked at her. It was a look that meant that he could already spot that something was wrong. "What's going on? was it a bad call?" Harrison was quick to throw in the questions. “It’s okay, Harrison. It's nothing really.” Alyssa said, standing up. She wanted to get fresh air, and maybe find a way to think. She had to leave immediately. The space choked up and with the way he looked at her. Her chest tightened and her pulse raced. She might blurt everything out. “I need to speak to the doctor. Maybe I can find a way to get him to release you earlier.” She pushed the right buttons with her words and Harrison brightened up. A faint smile appeared on his lips, though the worry in his eyes remained. He thought it was best not to push her yet. “Okay, I'd wait for you.” He said. Alyssa nodded and walked out the door. As soon as she was outside, she shut the door and leaned on it, sinking into a nightmare abyss. Her legs trembled, and she felt like collapsing on

  • Fall In Love, My Billionaire CEO   CHAPTER 40: A REOCCURRING NIGHTMARE

Harrison was moved to the hospital and then the doctors began the next therapy session. Clear tubes carried the medicine slowly while machines beeped around him. Alyssa had escaped from the drilling questions given to her by the media with the help of Kate. Even now, echoes of flashing cameras and invasive questions lingered in her mind. They had questioned her relationship with Harrison to which she publicly denied. There was no way she would let another creep into their family, because she was married to the man. She sat in the doctor's office. Her hands rested on her lap, fingers slightly intertwined. “Mrs Alexander. Your husband is strong but he still needs all the strength he can get. You shouldn't allow him to do some strenuous work. Going out…” The doctor paused and then his face darkened. His expression shifted from professional calm to clear disapproval. “No, sneaking out of the hospital wasn't the wise decision.” The man continued. Alyssa coughed, hiding the chuckl

The applause inside the Supreme Vida Hall had not died down. Alyssa completed her final turn on the runway and walked back behind the curtain. The moment she stepped backstage, the models and assistants surrounded her. “That was incredible!” “You owned that stage!” “The designer is going to love this!” Compliments poured in from every direction, but Alyssa barely processed any of them. Her mind was still stuck on the moment she saw Harrison in the audience. He was supposed to be in the hospital. Yet he had come. A warm feeling spread through her chest. Kate rushed toward her and grabbed both her hands excitedly. “I knew it! I knew you would crush it!” Kate said proudly. “You should see the reaction online right now. Everyone is talking about you!” Alyssa smiled faintly. Her eyes drifted toward the stage entrance again. “I saw him,” she said quietly. Kate blinked in confusion. “Who?” She asked, until a realization dropped in her heart. Alyssa confirmed it with the nex

Alyssa looked around, her arm entwined with Harrison's. They were standing inside The Ivory Table—the kind of five-star establishment she had only ever dreamed of visiting. Now, it was right in front of her. Suddenly, a man in a sharp suit rushed out from the entrance. "Master Alexander! I d
