Theo ran his tongue over his bottom lip and spoke clearly.

They finished their drinks quietly, shared some small talk, then walked Sean to the door. Theo gave him a firm handshake. Talia leaned in and pressed a kiss to Sean’s cheek.

Once the front door clicked shut, Theo paused and listened. A second later, Sean’s door opened across the hall, then shut. Only then did he walk back toward the living room.
