Clairessa’s POV

The memories came in fragments that refused to hold together.

The restaurant, the waitress setting down the juice with a bright smile. My lips touched the glass, I had taken a few sips, then everything turned blurry.

Adrian’s arms steadied me when I swayed, keeping me from falling as I tried to make my way to the restroom. My legs felt shaky, the floor tilting under me. I dragged a hand along the wall to keep myself upright, my eyelids heavy, my chest tight.

The waitress appeared again, her smile gone, her voice low. “Let me lead you to the restroom.”

She guided me toward the back, down a hallway, dim light, the sink. My hand gripped the porcelain as I tried to breathe through the sudden dizziness.

And then, him, a man in a mask stepping inside as if he’d been waiting for me.

“Who are you? What’s going on?” The words came out slurred, weak, as though they weren’t even mine.

He lunged. A rough hand clamped over my mouth. I tried to scream, but the sound was smothered. I

Drama after Drama. Clarissa is always tied up in something....... She undergoes more torture/twists in this book. Its not a good look for the book.

Seriously sick of this author hurting Clairessa. The hurt is for chapters and seems to not stop. Then she is okay for a few. I will NEVER read another story by this author. There is no balance in her stories. Always drama. Always heartache. It’s sucks. Sorry not sorry. It’s bad

  • Falling For My Ex's Dad   Chapter 305: Fire We Can't Put Out

Clairessa’s POVI sank into the mattress with a long, grateful sigh, the steam from the shower still seeping warmth into my skin.Gabriel fussed with the blanket, tucking it up around my shoulders as if I might catch a chill in the middle of the night. His hands lingered, smoothing the fabric, stroking the hair at my temple with a tenderness that had become a daily ritual. He had been my strength through this whole awful recovery since the shooting. He made sure he came home early, helped me shower, made certain I ate, and stayed by my side when the flashbacks came. He treated me like I was fragile and fierce at the same time, patient and devoted. The pain of Marco holding my life on a thread and shooting me was still a memory that could sting if I let it, but with Gabriel here, I had found peace, real peace. I had never felt alone with him. Because of him I healed faster, slept a little easier, breathed a little freer, as if something heavy had finally been set down.I was happier th

  • Falling For My Ex's Dad   Chapter 304: Second Chance At Happiness

Gabriel’s POVClairessa’s eyes brightened even more. “Two bouquets of roses?” she teased. “I must really be a princess. Or maybe... a queen.”I crossed the room, set the flowers down on the bedside table, and bent over her. My lips brushed her forehead, my hand stroking her hair back. “Of course you are,” I whispered against her skin. “You’re the queen of my world. You hold my entire heart.”Color flushed her cheeks as she leaned into me, warmth against my chest. “You hold mine as well,” she answered, so low I almost missed it. It landed, and it was everything.I turned, urging softly, “Come closer, son.”Adrian gave a shy smile. “I just wanted to give you two lovebirds a moment.” Still, he stepped forward and placed his roses into her waiting hands. She brought them to her face, breathing in their scent.“It’s good to see you, Adrian,” she said warmly. “And I absolutely love the flowers. Thank you.”“At least I got your favorite this time,” Adrian joked lightly. “Thanks to your boyfr

Gabriel’s POVI couldn’t bring myself to sit, not when every second without news felt like it was tearing me apart from the inside. Adrian sat slumped in the chair, elbows digging into his knees, his eyes red and weary. I kept pacing the floor in front of him, every muscle in my body wound tight like a bowstring.“Dad,” Adrian said after a long silence, his voice tired. “You should sit down. You’ve been on your feet all night.”I shook my head. “If I sit, I’ll fall apart. I can’t.”He leaned forward, elbows on his knees. “Maybe you should let me stay here, and you go home. Get some rest.”I stopped pacing and looked at him.“No, you’ve got to get home, Adrian. You need rest, too. I’ll stay, and I’ll call you if anything changes.”He shook his head quickly. “No. I’m not ready to leave you here alone. Not with her still…” His voice trailed off, but the weight of it pressed between us.Before I could answer, the doors swung open. Dr. Elena walked in, this time with a faint smile tugging

  • Falling For My Ex's Dad   Chapter 302: Staying Strong For Her And The Baby

Gabriel’s POV The two gunshots tore through the air almost as one. One slammed into Marco’s skull and his body dropped to the floor, lifeless. My enemy was gone, but I couldn’t spare a glance at him, not when a bullet tore through Clairessa’s shoulder. My world stopped. All I saw was her collapsing, her hair falling across her face as she crumpled. “No!” The word ripped from my chest as my legs moved before I thought. I dove forward, catching her before she hit the floor. Her weight sagged into me, too limp, too still. Blood poured from her shoulder where the bullet had torn through. My hands pressed against it, useless against the flood. Her hair clung to her damp face, and I pushed it back, desperate to see her eyes. Her eyes were shutting as I pressed her closer to my body. “Clairessa, stay with me,” I begged, voice shaking. “You’re going to be fine. Do you hear me? You’re fine.” Her lashes fluttered, her lips trembling as though she was fighting to obey, but the darkness

  • Falling For My Ex's Dad   Chapter 301: Getting Shot

Clairessa’s POV“Nowhere,” I lied, because anything else might make him beat the shit out of me.He didn’t buy it. His fingers found a fistful of my hair and jerked my face up until my head spun. His eyes were two coals. He grinned like he enjoyed the brokenness on my face.“Don’t try anything stupid,” he warned. “Or I swear I’ll end you, and everything you’re carrying inside that fragile little body of yours.”I simply nodded and then he let me go.He barked orders, his voice cutting through the room. “We move through the back hallway. Clear this place out. You two, move it now.”Draco and Connor, the taller men, nodded and melted into the darkness. Marco turned to Nicole like a captain to a cowardly officer. “You, get in front. Now. Move.”Nicole’s lips pressed into a thin line. She looked pale and shaken, and for the first time since this began I saw fear on her face. She obeyed, walking ahead like someone who had been given no choice.“Your turn.” Marco shoved me forward, the edge

  • Falling For My Ex's Dad   Chapter 300: Attempting To Run

Clairessa’s POVFear unlike anything I had ever known gripped me, squeezing the air from my lungs. For a moment the thought was simple and brutal, this was my fault. I should never have shrugged off Marco’s threats.I should have listened to Gabriel’s warnings about my safety and stayed with the security, not snuck off with Adrian. Stubbornness had a price, and I was paying for it now.I never, not in a hundred nightmares, imagined Nicole and Marco working together. Paying off a waitress, cloning a phone, setting a trap, the ugly pieces fit together now. No wonder the waitress had been so eager. No wonder the juice tasted wrong, a slow drift of dizziness that pulled me under before I could think. She drugged me, and then everything went black.Adrian must be frantic. Would he have swallowed his pride and called Gabriel? Have they called the police? Is Gabriel tearing the city apart trying to find me? I clung to that image like a lifeline, picturing him furious and desperate, doing wha
